Nostalgia. Have you bought something from your youth recently out of a sense of nostalgia?

Back when I was in middle school and into my freshman year of high school (1991), I loved collecting baseball cards as well as football cards. I even had some basketball and hockey cards. There were a number of card companies at the time including Topps, Donruss, Fleer, Score, Upper Deck, and Bowman. Last week, I had an MLB ad pop up on Facebook for cards and decided to buy a box to see what cards were like these days. I was sad to learn that Topps now has the exclusive rights to the MLB and most of those other companies no longer exist.

Do you remember the happy apple?

No, can't say that I do. It doesn't ring any bells.

Ha ha

I’m laughing at myself because I spent about 30 seconds looking at this image stumped as to why a fellow Gen Xer would feel nostalgic about Shohei Ohtani, seeing as how we’re all old enough to be his parents. 😂
JeffTS@reddit (OP)
Lol! It happens.

Books and records, that's about it.
A couple of years ago I bought a Konix Speedking from ebay with the idea of converting it to USB but I never finished the project. Maybe I will now!

I came this close to buying a baseball glove yesterday
MonkeyWrenchAccident@reddit
I bought a new glove this year.

I still have one. Somewhere! I miss the days of just tossing a baseball or football around.

Me too, hours spent just throwing a ball

I like to go to Goodwill and find gently used things that I think friends/family might like at prices that are insanely affordable. I find brand new toys/plushies that I'll sometimes grab for my niece and nephew, I find in box golf balls/tees for my father in law, unopened puzzles for mother in law, random useful things for brother and sister in law, like unopened card/board games, and for myself... well, I find things I wanted as a kid.
Anyhow, a couple years back my jaw hit the floor. I found a Koosa in fantastic condition! A Koosa! Koosas were the animal versions of the Cabbage Patch kids. They only made them for a couple years in the early 80's, then they were discontinued. Someone gave up a Koosa in good condition to Goodwill, and I took it home with me for 3 bucks.
I also still buy Transformers, but this purchase I specifically made because of the nostalgia.

I don’t remember Koosa but that’s awesome!

I hated dolls, but I absolutely loved these. Just like the Cabbage Patch dolls, they were all unique and had belly buttons, a signature, and a birth certificate XD I still remember the jingle: "Cuddle up with a Koosaaa\~"

Got a package of ding dongs. I was very disappointed. Not sure if I changed or they did, they sucked.
Savethecat1@reddit
They changed them. Fuckers.

Right off the bat, no tinfoil.

I bought an original He-Man out of the package on eBay to have on the “toy shelf”
JeffTS@reddit (OP)
I’ve got a garbage bag of He-Man figures in my basement that my sibling dug up from my childhood. Including Castle Greyskull. Eventually, I’ll get around to cleaning and sorting them.

I recently got back into building model cars. I still have all the ones I built in college and later, but I hadn't built any in about 30 years. I'm having a blast with them.

A number of years ago, I decided that I was going to do models again. I bought an X-wing model and said to myself “who needs decals? I could paint models when I was a kid and can still do it”. Dude, was I wrong. I still haven’t finished that X-wing.

I couldn’t remember the name of a perfume my mom bought me one Xmas so I described the bottle to the r/fragrance sub and they figured it out in 10 minutes. I bought myself a bottle on Amazon. I was surprised it was still around. It took me right back to being 13 again when my mom was still alive. It’s not something I’d wear anymore but it brings back memories.

I bought a couple wrestling action figures because I thought I was going to start a new collection. bought 3 figures and realised I was spending $20 per figure juust to have them sitting on a shelf.
made me rethink trying to replace my 1980/1990 GI Joe collection I had.
JeffTS@reddit (OP)
Yup. I went through that phase with Star Wars figures. I have a bunch of them sitting in boxes that are unopened that I'll probably eventually sell online. It's expensive!
IvoShandor@reddit
I bought a Mongoose BMX t-shirt. I occasionally get subtle approval nods.
DiamondEyesFlamingo@reddit
I occasionally pick up some Big League Chew
groverlaw@reddit
Every once in a while I’ll buy a small Lego set and put it together purely out of nostalgia.
LoggingLorax@reddit
Does weed count?
JeffTS@reddit (OP)
It could!
LoggingLorax@reddit
Well to be fully transparent, I didn't buy it because of nostalgia...😉🤣
