There should be an IQ test and a common sense test to even run for any job that can affect other people.

Wow... a world without reddit mods.

You'd lose a large part of our workforce, which affects everyone. And those who might be a bit... Less intelligent... What shall we do with them?

Pigs are filthy animals. Who is to eat the pigs?
fig_art@reddit
the people that are gonna get fed to the pigs will eat the pigs before they are turned into feed.

What if we put young people through some kind of education and testing program that, if they passed, they would get a certificate declaring them ready to be contributing members of society?

Well as an American, I'm currently suffering mostly because of old people. I have nothing against people of any age, but an honest look at demographics makes it abundantly clear that almost everyone's life would be better if we only listened to young people. It feels absurd to say this because one would think that with experience comes wisdom, but here we are...

Every job affects other people
Suzina@reddit
That's all jobs. All jobs effect others.
So either we let low IQ people starve, or they get food for free
Bobebobbob@reddit
The (or really a) problem is when you have to figure out who's designing the tests.
Stuck_in_my_TV@reddit
That’s literally every job. Flipping a burger at McDonalds affects other people. Picking up trash on the side of the road affects other people.
mugwhyrt@reddit
What would be an example of a job that doesn't affect other people?

Too bad IQ test is only meant to measure intelligence assimilated at early ages. Also, there is no such thing as common sense. It may have seemed like it existed, but it was only the result of everybody growing up the same way on some kind of farm, which incidentally, was much worse for humanity than hunting and gathering was. There's videos about it on youtube you can search for.
You'd need a test/simulation where a person must prove through their actions and behavior that the person is a people person, exercises good judgment, and is compassionate on a long term basis. Making someone accrue experience in a volunteer position may be a good approach.

for sure, but i think in the future people will invent something like this

How about just a basic civics test?
