Can anybody identify what soviet aircraft this throttle is from?

Brought this at a military fair 15 years ago, just rediscovered it in the loft. Looks like a single engine, afterburning soviet jet so I thought mig 21. Looks similar to some variants but the olive green colouring is throwing me off! Any ideas anyone?

Something with an afterburner, if I read the label correctly ("forsaj", I don't speak Russian)
TheDrMonocle@reddit
Google translated it to "MAX. AFTERFURIOUS" which I think I like better.
MNIMWIUTBAS@reddit
It's better than the British calling it "reheat"

Reheating my breakfast. Ejecting onto the lounge

Good action hero name.
svartalf@reddit
It translates as "max. afterburner".
And labels in the last photo are saying "stop" ("стоп"), "low thrust" ("м.газ"), and "max. afterburner" ("макс. форсаж", and I have no idea why it is visually split into two labels)
saml01@reddit
Its “M.” It could be mimimum.

I wonder if "max" is their word for "military power," the max non-afterburning setting.
keel_up2@reddit
Precisely this. Max = mil.power

Because at the ‘MAX’ mark maximum fuel utilization occurs, and at the ‘AFTERBURNER MODE’ mark additional fuel is burned in the afterburner chamber (i.e. EVEN MORE fuel is used to accelerate the Jet)

Based on the part number I would say it's from a MiG-21PF (Izdeliye 76; NATO nickname "Fishbed-D").

My favorute MIg

I know some guys who flew it for the US Air Force.

Was it a stolen or defector ?
Peter_Merlin@reddit
It was one of a number of airplanes acquired from Egypt through diplomatic channels in the late 1970s and early 1980s. They were flown at Area 51 by the Red Hats squadron. I wrote a detailed history of the program in this book:

It's from Blyat-3, they way you can tell is by smelling the handle. It should smell like Stolichnaya vodka which was produced until 2013, then got bought out and it's just not the same.

There’s a lot of MiG-21 variants and the cockpit finishes aren’t always consistent between them. Here’s a picture of an olive coloured one in a former North Vietnamese MiG-21PF.

This is great.

A broken one
hakmar0_12@reddit
Yes, it looks a lot like the engine thrust control knob on a early Mig-21. It says on the panel: STOP, LOW GAS, MAX (GAS) and AFTERBURNER MODE
Boris_the_pipe@reddit
Early MiG-21 with R-11 engine I think..so every modification until MF that got R-13 engine
NervousDependent@reddit
Seems very similar to Mig 21 throttle
Opp-Contr@reddit
Looks like mig-21 throttle.
