There are actually tons of muslims in Japan. I was surprised the small, rural town I was living in had the largest mosque in the prefecture because of all the temporary farm laborers. There’s more than you would expect and like in the West, the issue is becoming a blight
e-lsewhere@reddit
Ah yes, the 'blight' of... temporary farm laborers. The very people doing the back-breaking work that keeps the agricultural sector afloat.
It's the classic Western dilemma: the economy needs the cheap labor, but the society fears the culture that comes with it. The funniest part is the constant, manufactured fear of 'Sharia law.'
Most of these men are fleeing secular dictatorships or Western-backed monarchies—the very countries where you can be jailed for being 'too religious.' The Muslim world is run by these regimes, not by Sharia. Yet people in the West panic about a phantom threat that doesn't even exist back home.
Make no mistake, they are importing something. It's the strawberries you'll buy at the supermarket tomorrow, thanks to a lifestyle made comfortably affordable by their labor.

0.28% of their population is a ton...

You wouldn’t know as you haven’t been but considering the UK gets called to prayer, you wouldn’t know what a few looks like. Why must all people be welcomed everywhere? They’ve got plenty of Muslim countries already for people who want to live like that. The mosques are an eyesore compared to the native Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines. 0 is the perfect amount for Japan

Most Muslims in Japan are from Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines
NotActuallyIraqi@reddit
That makes about as much sense as cracking down on Jews in the interest of fighting financial crimes.
It’s stupidly bigoted.
TheMarxman_-2020@reddit
The party came about because people were unhappy with the NHK ( The main broadcasting station in Japan ) forcing people to pay the TV tax like in the UK. The NHK party is literally a single issue party that promised to stop the NHK from being too greedy and all that. After getting elected, Tachibana went on a grift spewing out anti semitism with far right Japanese as well as doing antics that pissed off a lot of people.
This video explains him and his party very well
AsterKando@reddit
LMAO - I didn’t realise it that that party. I’ve been seeing loads of headlines about this, and I thought it was a legitimate political party on the rise. Well, it very well might be … but they’re not serious people
Nabbicus@reddit
Non-serious morón parties seem to be having a lot of impact across the world lately.
waddeaf@reddit
The crazy rightwing party on the rise is the sanseito
rThundrbolt@reddit
MAGA were not serious people either at first

If you want more info on them, then I recommend you to watch thi video

It's basically what if Japanese 4chaners started a party.
TheMarxman_-2020@reddit
NHK actually decreases their fees and all that which made the party essentially redundant, so the party leader resorted to all sorts of antics to stay relevant but all failed. All the people in his party aren't serious people.
Absolute_Satan@reddit
Bruh there are like 15 jews in Japan how are they still the scapegoat
BabylonianWeeb@reddit (OP)
There's no native jewish population in Japan, Japan has been isolated nation in most of its history and when comes to to foreign it's 95% came from China.
Although anti-semtisim kinda exists in Japan since the government is pro-US and Israel, which caused the spread of far-right Japanese theories about Jews controlling Japan.
hSolitude@reddit
The Japanese right wing is mostly pro US and they don't care about the middle east usually.
BabylonianWeeb@reddit (OP)
They do, especially Japan, which has a major role in the Iraq and Afghanistan war. They also refused to recognize Palestine as a state.
AugustWolf-22@reddit
Ah yes, those scary blacks and Muslims living in Japan…all 7 of them…
what a pathetic grifter, this is just a lazy copy and paste of the Euro-American far right's rhetoric, which makes no sense for Japan!
Appropriate_Mode8346@reddit
The only Muslims I saw in Japan were at the airport. Then again my trip was to Okinawa which was technically the Ryukyu Kingdom until 1879. So, I didn't see mainland beyond the Airport. Beyond the military installations and touristy areas, I noticed that Japan is very Homogonous compared to the United States. From what I read about foreigners, US Service members are most dangerous foreigners in Japan.
With that said, you're right about him being a pathetic grifter.
Temporary_Jelly1252@reddit
Japan needs only observe the rest of the world to see that this pattern recognition is anything but invalid.
I fully support their xenophobia. It's what allows them to maintain their cultural identity. The UK and France particularly are no longer safe to walk at night, or even at day if a woman by herself.
Plenty-Shoe365@reddit
lmao what? you need to go outside more instead of rotting in your room
aes_art_foiy@reddit
take a look at its account
Temporary_Jelly1252@reddit
Very quick with the dehumanization I see
aes_art_foiy@reddit
Very quick yet you still beat me to it.
Temporary_Jelly1252@reddit
Rape and murder are very much human things
aes_art_foiy@reddit
yes.
Temporary_Jelly1252@reddit
I'm not sure what appending something to a comment within 3 minutes is supposed to insinuate other than that I appended something to the comment within 3 minutes.
So my next question is: Japan has such high social trust that it's one of the few if not the only country in the world where young school children can be trusted to get to school safely on their own. If you import more people from cultures where child rape is commonplace and normalized, do you think that social trust can still remain in place once incidents start occurring?
aes_art_foiy@reddit
Its well documented that school children (and women) are not safe in Japan what are you on about?. Plus I have several Japanese friends who told me about being sexually assaulted as minors BY JAPANESE MEN in schools and in public. The news agency in the original post hosts articles about school girls being victims and theres documentaries about men groping women on public transport in Japan.
Temporary_Jelly1252@reddit
How often are their bodies found broken, mangled, and stabbed multiple times?
aes_art_foiy@reddit
I see you're restructuring the argument already. Nope I dont know because I dont look into Japanese affairs unless my academic affairs or Japanese friends need me to do so. I'm only aware or Junko Furuta's case. And frankly I have no interest in discussing it with the likes of you.
Ok_Builder_4225@reddit
Bro, the fuckin' irony of you, of all people, saying this.
aes_art_foiy@reddit
me? what about me?
Ok_Builder_4225@reddit
How was I referring to you?
aes_art_foiy@reddit
oh my bad I assumed you replied to me.
Temporary_Jelly1252@reddit
So India has a rape culture. That means India has a lot more rapists per capita than other cultures. But just because an Indian turns into a migrant, we're meant to avert our eyes to the potential of bad actors because doing so would be dehumanizing?
Ok_Builder_4225@reddit
Honestly, I'm far more worried about folks like you.
Temporary_Jelly1252@reddit
Virtue signalers like you can never answer the question directly.
Ok_Builder_4225@reddit
You really have no room to bitch about someone virtue signalling.
Temporary_Jelly1252@reddit
Yeah because that worked out so well for this woman

swelboy@reddit
Must be pretty scare news for all 5 Muslim and Blacks living in Japan.
BabylonianWeeb@reddit (OP)
There are actually religious missionaries in Japan that tried to convert thousands of Japanese to Islam (same with evangelical Christian)
The Japanese government have been spying on Japanese who converted to Islam. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2016/6/29/top-court-green-lights-surveillance-of-japans-muslims
Itsholymolyguacamole@reddit
There has been fairly major conflicts brewing underwater between Muslims and Japanese.
As a background, it is not customary in Japan to bury people - because it’s a mountainous country where land is at a premium.
This has been rule for forever. You die. You get cremated. This is how 99.9% of the deaths get processed whether you are Japanese or foreigner.
Yet Muslims have been demanding exception to this rule. so it’s not surprising that there is a politician who’s looking to capitalize on this conflict.
DeepState_Auditor@reddit
Did you even read your own source??
[Japan currently has multi-faith cemeteries where Muslims can be interred, but there are no concrete plans for establishing a Muslim graveyard. .... The Muslim association bought land in the city of Hiji, close to Beppu, after being assured by the local authority and the mayor that there were no restrictions on the plot being used as a burial site. There were objections from local people, most of whom said they feared that buried bodies would contaminate water sources.
After extended negotiations and reassurances that the graveyard posed no danger to residents in the area, the land was sold to the association. Previously, many Muslims had been buried in a nearby Christian cemetery that also permitted the burial of uncremated remains, and there was hope was that the new graveyard could open soon.](https://archive.ph/jjTbS)
This is just pure bigotry.
Itsholymolyguacamole@reddit
There are a total of 10 burial plots in the entire country.
The conflict comes from new people’s attempt to increase that when locals don’t want it.
DeepState_Auditor@reddit
In response to a Kyodo News story in September last year, one message read, “If an Islamic cemetery is established, there are concerns that Muslims will move there in droves. There are concerns that it will become a haven, a holy place. There are concerns that it will become a breeding ground for terrorists. The entire town will become a surveillance zone for the public security.”.....Japan buried its own dead until about 70 years ago, when the practice was replaced by cremation, he notes, while calls for Muslims to go back to their own countries if they want to be buried in the Muslim tradition also overlooks the thousands of Japanese Muslims.
BTW, orthodox Christians have their own exclusive burial site that completed construction last year. orthodox Christians have their own exclusive burial site that completed construction last year.

Muslims always cause problems no matter where they go.... interesting
