She shot to fame playing the fearless Xena: Warrior Princess in the iconic 1990s series. Now two decades on, leading actress Lucy Lawless opens up about her death-defying stunts, the finale that disappointed fans and why playing a cat-loving detective in the new crime drama My Life is Murder is liberating... aside from ditching the leather corset! https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/2077651/Xena-Warrior-Princess-star-reveals-stunt-went-horribly-wrong

It's shocking that there weren't more injuries on set based on what we've seen in the show. Sure most of the shots behind and taxing elaborate stunts are done by professionals, but I'm still shock we don't hear about more injuries that happened on set. Whew.

Thanks! Like others, I didn't know about the Glynn incident. I can imagine why, at the time, they would've been tight lipped. Kiwis might've shrugged, but Americans would be shocked. I visited in 2000, determined to do physical stuff challenging my fears (e.g., claustrophobia, fear of heights). The U.S. is so litigious, I expected multi-sheet safety and waiver forms, layers of equipment, restrictions/prohibitions (e.g., age, vision). Nope. Everybody was "no worries." No panic, great confidence I could do whatever. They "6-wired" (made up) remedies for the unexpected. It was great! I got to check off everything on my list. Really gave me insight into the culture that made XWP so unique and, quite frankly, probably could not have been duplicated in the U.S.

It’s still crazy they almost seriously injured the actor playing Pandora?!

I thought it must've been Pandora! This seemed scary stuff they put her through!
On another note, this actress is one of the most memorable one off characters. It's a pity they didn't bring her back for a bigger role or to make Pandora more involved in a story. Although, I think Pandora and the King from that episode return for a story in the comics.

Sometimes the xena set wasn’t the safest. In one against an army ROC had her foot landed on and the same guy a few days later broke his leg.

Good article. I didn't know that about Mary Elizabeth Glynn.
