Royle Family gives me the same comfort vibes as Detectorists. Just got inexplicably shit towards the end

Purely based on Detectorists, Joe Pera Talks With You

It’s always sunny in Philadelphia
Drawinginfinity182@reddit
A new film recently came out with Tim Key called “The Ballad of Wallace Island”, has a similar feel to it as the detectorists. Well worth a look :)
Drwynyllo@reddit
Minor correction - it's Wallis Island.
But yes, I'd definitely second this recommendation. I watched it last night and it's excellent.
Drawinginfinity182@reddit
Corrected, thank you

Stath let's flats.
First few episodes the flow isn't great but it 100% is worth the three seasons.

Bruiser, That Mitchell and Webb Look and another one with both their names in it are all on YouTube for free

Agreeing with black books, people just do nothing and phone shop, also suggesting fleabag, game face and stath lets flats
hamjamham@reddit
Phone shop was underrated at the time!
Evan2kie@reddit
"a owl?", "man's a wagamama man" absolute quality. Also slightly strange seeing Andrew Brooke show up in everything from Andor to The Agency recently
Forsaken_Abrocoma_94@reddit
I get gassed seeing him in anything, “do you like the films of Jude Law?”
Karamazov1880@reddit

It's the hand action and facial expression when he says that line that kills me
Pedantichrist@reddit
Happy!
GarethOfQuirm@reddit
Check out a 90s show called "The Strangerers" with Mark Williams and Jack Docherty. There's only one season and it ends on a cliffhanger but it's a good days worth of telly
Jimbobfreddiewilson@reddit
Just watch peep show 36 more times. That’s what I do!

I love detectorists, it's so underrated.
It might be a bit on the dark side but I always felt detectorists and flowers were melancomedies
Jealous-Shallot-3071@reddit
No it's not. It is one of the best loved BBC shows of the past decade, massively loved by critics and fans and has won multiple BAFTAs.
It's literally the complete opposite of underrated

Alma's Not Normal. Portrait of England in a very different vein from Detectorists. It could be utterly bleak, but is very funny, yet can turn on a sixpence and bring tears to your eyes,
PatrickTheSosij@reddit
How not to live your life.
Story is a guy who inherits his dead grandparents house, and has some hijinks.
Honestly it's so underappreciated.
Being human
Similar vein, UK based and what not. A very good cast, story is great. Super natural beings living together and have issues that overcome etc etc.

silliestotter@reddit
Erm because it’s an amazing show, it doesn’t matter what shows they like, it’s impossible not to be drawn to the story of mr robot. Also- I have free will
FroHawk98@reddit
It is an amazing show
silliestotter@reddit
Hell yeah
Polish_Shamrock@reddit
All good shows, I'd put "Benidorm" and "Phone shop" up there with these British comedies. "Afterlife", "Rain dogs" and "Misfits" all must watch comedies too imo off the top of my head but there's hundreds more without knowing what you've seen.
