fourth

think the lack of celebrations this fourth kinda speaks volumes ab the current vibe in america rn. I’ve lived here for a few years and celebrate in Dallas/ Addison and Mckinney and every year, bar this year, fireworks and parties are going on until late in the night. maybe no kings sentiment is resonating w/ the ppl
KevinFinnerty59@reddit
it was raining
inteii@reddit
what is there to celebrate
Mindless_Rooster5225@reddit
Huh? We cut healthcare for the most vulnerable to give more to the wealthiest who holds more wealth in the history of mankind. Let's party!
zDedly_Sins@reddit
Oh no you have to work to get healthcare
nickgomez@reddit
Getting rich…by getting healthcare?
zDedly_Sins@reddit
Someone is allergic of working
nickgomez@reddit
Someone loves adding 4,000,000,000,000 to the national debt
zDedly_Sins@reddit
So now’s an issue? What about someone loving sending money to Ukraine
ladynomingtonn@reddit
Man, get a grip. This isn’t the side of the conversation you want to be on. You can “wait and see” but what the hell do you think cutting 1 trillion is going to do for the American people… help them? If it cut 1 trillion from the deficit, maybe you’d have a leg to stand on. Your argument in this thread is ridiculous and uninformed.
zDedly_Sins@reddit
It’s the same kind of argument. How are you going to complain about adding to the deficit when you send billions to another country. This is tax payers money that they don’t get any benefit from it. You should be the one who needs to get a grip. I’m not too happy about adding more to the deficit but some people can disagree about parts of BBB some are good and some are just horrible.
theobstinateone@reddit
Considering it was mostly aging equipment being sent and 80% of the money went to US defense industry to pay Americans to build new, more capable equipment, you should get your facts straight before just sucking down ruzzian propaganda. Your gullibility is only exceeded by your willful ignorance.
pokeyporcupine@reddit
What's your favorite flavor of boot? You seem to go through a lot of them.
kingston-twelve@reddit
Redwings. Durable and guaranteed for life. This is what they want to do for the rest of their lives, chew and lick the boots and be "guaranteed for life."

What’s your favorite color anal toy? Because you seem to take a lot in the ass for then

Well at this point, we need to see the effects of the BBB. Most people are giving it praises that it does not have and some are fearful. The fact comes from like you said people visiting their physician office.
theobstinateone@reddit
It’s dangerous to jump from a 60 story building. Well, at this point we need to see the effects
space2k@reddit
Ah yes, the old “we have no idea what this will do” bill. They know.
themorganster@reddit
Also not every job offers healthcare. A lot of small businesses don’t have it cause it’s expensive to offer for not that many people. Some people don’t have it cause it’s expensive even with a job that offers it.
Mindless_Rooster5225@reddit
They are slashing 1T from Medicaid we already going to know the effects what are you going on about? Sticking your head in the sand? People are going to die without healthcare.
Even if you have no empathy and cheer that on. That's fine. Kick people off let them die. Why are conservatives always going on about the national debt when democrats are in control? Use the 1T to balance the budget and not give more tax breaks to the 1% who don't need it.

Lmao what? everyone is celebrating
gonghis_khan@reddit
Celebrations happened Thursday. Kaboom Town was packed, Addison was filled with people on the streets everywhere. Same for Carrollton
ArmWarm8743@reddit
I’ve been wondering about that…why did so many celebrations happen before or after the 4th, especially when it fell on a Friday. I know Addison and The Colony (Grandscape) were on Thursday. I’m currently in Austin and the place I’m staying has their event scheduled tonight.
gonghis_khan@reddit
Government workers are off on the 4th, so official firework celebrations happen on the 3rd like Kaboomtown
ArmWarm8743@reddit
Oh wow. I don’t think I ever realized there weren’t “official” events on the 4th.
East-Ad-1560@reddit
Allen had their celebration last weekend.
Natasha5145@reddit
Who wants to celebrate being American right now?
SimpleVegetable5715@reddit
Fireworks are still fun, whatever. I bought some that I’m going to set off in my driveway tonight.

Schmiddy11@reddit
Not sure where you were but fireworks going off until almost midnight despite the weather. Maybe you’re just projecting your own feelings on everyone else’s 4th.
KeKamba1@reddit
Certain areas of Dallas were more packed than I have ever seen. Like Deep Ellum.
dallassoxfan@reddit
Ooh, this will make me hated here, but it is statistical fact that liberals just aren’t happy people in general.
Per Pew, they are much more likely to sever relationships, even with family, because of adversarial political viewpoints. As the saying goes, “republicans will hate your beliefs. Democrats will hate you for your beliefs.” I’m not even a Republican. I’m a libertarian/minarchist, but this saying jibes 100% with my observations.
Liberals are less likely to marry at all and wait longer to marry when they do.
Per CNN 92% of republicans are proud to be an American vs 24% of democrats
They are less generous, donating to charities at a far lower rate than republicans.
Liberals report more anxiety, depression, and mental health struggles, especially younger adults and women.
WonderfulChocolate16@reddit
or maybe..... just maybe the on and off down pour of rain all day had something to do with it
apeoples13@reddit
We live in Addison so we do kaboomtown every year. I’ve never seen it so empty! The weather was amazing too so I was surprised by that
Badlands32@reddit
The local news stations didn’t even host the fireworks celebrations in Dallas and DFW. Everyone knows our country is fucked with the current people running it.
HorseCockExpress6969@reddit
Cool another negative post LOL anybody got any cool positive Dallas things to post? Every post is political upsetness LOL and please don't comment with none of the well well but this is why it's negative blah blah blah nothing's perfect. Go eat some ice cream and chill.
projectzacko@reddit
Heck, it’s Saturday now and we’re officially starting in… 3-2-1… 🧨
txharw1111@reddit
I think we heard significantly more fireworks this year than normal in east Dallas. A lot of people do travel for the fourth though. Probably just depends on your neighborhood
Queasy_Company_6710@reddit
To be fair it was raining this year…
RepresentativeAd1181@reddit
Still enjoyed our fourth of july party🤷♂️
CalciteQ@reddit
This 4th is definitely a mood.
Spock_Nipples@reddit
It did rain off and on all day. There was rain in a lot or places just before dark. That keeps a lot of people at home.
Motor-Touch4360@reddit
Kaboomtown is always on the 3rd.
Queasy_Company_6710@reddit
By not celebrating 4th of July, you’re celebrating 4th of July.
antireactive@reddit
I'm working a bar in downtown Dallas tonight that's normally packed on Friday nights. It's dead. Very little traffic in the area. A somber feeling in the air.
rjrttu86@reddit
I feel like there was a little bit of paranoia of some potential Iranian related shenanigans on the 4th. That and the whole mood statewide is muted because what happened down in Kerrville with the flash flood.
noncongruent@reddit
Iranians aren't going to do anything as bad to us as we're doing to ourselves. All they have to do is sit by and watch us dismantle our own country and economy.
antireactive@reddit
Absolutely tragic what happened in Kerrville today. I can certainly see why that adds to the emptiness of the evening.
ChartreuseF1re@reddit
July 4th is notoriously one of the slowest bar days of the year, no matter the day of the week. Same with the Super Bowl and New Years Day. 3 worst revenue days of the year. Not surprising. Here in Austin, it was quiet as well. I'm sure the rain did no favors. But i agree about the somber feeling.
YaGetSkeeted0n@reddit
Yeah idk what people are smoking here. It’s the 4th. It’s a cookout in the backyard, hang at the apartment pool, go to the beach, go on a trip somewhere holiday. Not a go out on the town holiday. Always has been. Throw in rain and of course it’s dead out and about
faithcharmandpixdust@reddit
My family and I were downtown yesterday for the protest & walked around a bit afterward & I kept telling my husband how eerie it was that it was so quiet & deserted downtown.
TheLastModerate982@reddit
Because it is a holiday an people are not working. Of course downtown is empty.
WetWolfPussy@reddit
Keep in mind that holidays like this are usually slow downtown. People stay in the suburbs for cookouts n shit. Fewer travelers as well
CrownedClownAg@reddit
I would also add that apparently this is the largest amount of travel they have seen for this time of year so maybe going elsewhere
Illustrious-Ad5575@reddit
I've lived downtown since 2009. This is very true.
Ur-Upstairs-Neighbor@reddit
I’m actually out of town. Was briefly at a bar last night that felt it should have been packed, but was only ~25% of capacity.
Cockroach3455@reddit
same. work at the busiest bar in the stockyards behind billy bobs. fridays are always havoc but this was our slowest one since I’ve started working here. vibes were in the dirt.
TexasReallyDoesSuck@reddit
im workin a bar in downtown thats normally slow as hell, & its indeed still slow tonight
nickgomez@reddit
100% tons of parking for fair park fourth tonight
csonnich@reddit
It also rained earlier this evening, though. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people just decided to stay home.
JPhi1618@reddit
That’s too simple of an explanation. This obviously has to be politically motivated.
Spock_Nipples@reddit
Maybe- but also the 'big' show in town (Kaboom Town) was on the 3rd this year. A lot of people prefer that one over Fair Park.
IMeanIGuessDude@reddit
It can be both.
Rolo-CoC@reddit
Everywhere I went was packed. Fireworks still going off into the night. Reddit politics bullshit isn't real life for most people.
Ambitious-Pressure-0@reddit
Addison circle was sold out on July 3rd and Panther Pavilion was PACKED! I had a great time at both locations!
Jaded-Box8885@reddit
Lot of wussies in this Dallas sub, kinda surprised lol
DivaMissZ@reddit
The neighborhood across the road usually sounds like the Gaza Strip on holidays; this year, only intermittent pops and no gunfire
SourDzzl@reddit
So I do production management for an Independence Day event near Austin and it turns out part of the reason a lot of the usual fireworks displays didn't happen this year is because the cost of fireworks doubled compared to last year due to tariffs.
As for the vibes feeling off outside of that, I think you're right. Why celebrate a country that is essentially booting 16 million people off their Medicare and is pulling funding that goes to feeding children, veterans, etc to cover the cost of some fucking billionaires tax cuts all while watching our system of checks and balances get dismantled by a narcissistic convicted felon. MURICA
MolochTheCalf@reddit
The weather was kinda mixed this week. I think that has some to do with it. My friends almost rescheduled for the weekend to celebrate but luckily the weather cleared up near my area
aggiepat@reddit
I saw more fireworks than I have in a few years
Academic-Visual-1030@reddit
Bro, consumer debt is at its highest right now. People are maxed out on their credit cards and cannot spend anymore.
bballjones9241@reddit
Then how the hell is it always a record number of people flying lol
aunt_snorlax@reddit
It’s not. I work for an airline, and sales are down as you would expect with economic downturn.
nonamejd123@reddit
As an Oak Cliff resident, I assure you people were still out all night partying.
Cry-ur-Tears25@reddit
Everywhere I went people were celebrating. Fireworks stands and stores were packed yesterday. On Reddit it’s doom and gloom lol
ribhere@reddit
This year more than ever people are spending it with their families.
Medvenger21@reddit

dan_man972@reddit
Lmao perspective bias… There were plenty of parties, celebrations, and fireworks. Get over yourself.
Paraxom@reddit
its nearly 1 am, i've still got some asshole setting off fireworks, luckily i don't work weekends
bizasuge@reddit
They’re still going strong at 3 am in east Dallas smh
EmotionalSupportDoll@reddit
Ya, that was annoying
savannah31401@reddit
Some pretty powerful ones too.
hiccupmortician@reddit
My neighborhood is eerily quiet. Our neighbors usually set fireworks off all night long. The only sounds are big shows in the distance.
Not sure if it's avoiding celebrating because they're disappointed in the USA or avoiding drawing attention because people are scared. I live in a big city with lots of immigrants.
Any_Toe2716@reddit
Makes sense. If you're in the country illegally, shooting off fireworks illegally is not a great idea.
Daiiga@reddit
I just wanted an excuse to drink. Went to a brewery with a friend Thursday night for a party that had views of kaboomtown (which was a generous claim imo). Then went to the in laws neighborhood for a sub par parade, a poorly organized lunch, and more varicose veins in one place than I have ever seen in my life before going to a city event and fireworks show.
There sure were a lot of people taking their day drinking excuse was too seriously, but free events are always going to be a draw
indigoC99@reddit
Honestly I feel like July 4th overall is waning down. It was like this last year. I hear some popping all through the night and the next nights: nothing.
As least the celebration in Ducanville was in full swing
More_Storage6801@reddit
I've never seen protest on the 4th either. That speaks volumes, and rightfully so
not-actual69_@reddit
I like that everyone in this sub thinks the general public’s life revolves around politics. It certainly doesn’t have anything to do with weather, consumer debt or people just being sick of dealing with crowds.

Seemed similar to every other year to me. If there was a somber tone it was because of those poor girls at camp mystic.
PorcelainDalmatian@reddit
I think many people are starting to understand that for the first time in our lives, the biggest threat to Americans is their own government.

Yeah. A lot of my friends decided not to celebrate this year.

I've been thinking about the speech Frederick Douglas gave some 173 years ago, "What to the slave is the Fourth of July?" and your question really hit it home.

I went by the grocery store dreading a madhouse and it was actually even deader than normal. Did everybody go out of town or something?
Anon31780@reddit
Nah; lots of folks around, just not out and about.
punkerjim@reddit
Really overthinking it. It was overcast and looking like rain most of the day yesterday. Rain generally has a way of changing plans for peoples outdoor celebrations.
OpenEyz2016@reddit
Addison this year was so muted.
NecessaryViolenz@reddit
Uh, there were just as many parties this year as any other year duder. People were blowing stuff up all night, my dogs can confirm.

We didn't do anything. I usually love a fireworks show. Celebrating freedom feels oddly unpatriotic right now. I love my country, which is why I'm so saddened by the state of things. This week we saw one of the largest wealth transfers from the poor to the rich in our nation's history. And some of us voted for it.
PenguinRiot1@reddit
Yeah, I am done celebrating the 4th or this country. About 150M of you people suck to bad.
JakeA03@reddit
So many overdramatic sissy’s lol
EnvironmentalLuck515@reddit
I agree. It would feel like a lie to celebrate American freedom now. We did put out or flag. Upside down.
ocultada@reddit
Idk what your talking about but people around me were shooting fireworks till nearly 3am.
BloodyNora78@reddit
A lot of places scaled back or canceled celebrations after what happened in Hill Country.
SimpleVegetable5715@reddit
Yeah and that rain made it up here too, just not as bad. Kinda hard to do food trucks, craft fairs, and fireworks when it’s raining outside.
SimpleVegetable5715@reddit
The fireworks shows were canceled because there was so much rain in the area. The one at Collin College’s Spring Creek campus still happened. Maybe others were postponed for today? Worth checking, since the city already bought the fireworks.
SoyEseVato@reddit

JulsTiger10@reddit
I guess it stopped here in McKinney at 380 and Custer around 11. I’m close to a small park, and it started before the sun went down, and I guess people used up all their fireworks. 3 hours of fireworks was pretty good.
HintzOfTrouble@reddit
It’s 1:32 and I still hear fireworks
AnastasiaNo70@reddit
All the yahoos in my rural Collin County neighborhood couldn’t afford fireworks this year, yay!

I see no reason to celebrate that we’re moving toward fascism.

Funny that about the End Times, my aunt talked to me about Proverbs 29:2, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."

Busy-Aide-5050@reddit
I moved here last year and this neighborhood was popping off... Like to the point that all the sudden my neighbor was littered with dozens and dozens of firework rocket casings all burned out and on my roof and my truck bed and everything else. I hardly hear anything tonight comparatively.
Doesn't feel like there is much worth celebrating and this is all pretty overwhelmingly bad.
VanGoghsEar2025@reddit
