Relevance to r/Linux community - Posts should follow what the community likes: GNU/Linux, Linux kernel itself, the developers of the kernel or open source applications, any application on Linux, and more. Take some time to get the feel of the subreddit if you're not sure!
hell yeah, no more fiddling around with obscure commands resulting in even more errors. he yeah to kicking stackoverbitch in the nuts because they keep closing your requests because they are too egotistical to help. progress will march on with all the luddites getting ground into paste and it will be glorious!
I installed an Al agent (Gemini) on my laptop and it's actually been pretty useful, but it absolutely shouldn't be bundled with the OS. Al tools should remain optional like they are now, not forced into the system like in sindows, where you can't fully remove them.
Having the ability to choose, that's the whole point of Linux.
I hate how everyone sees "AI" and just piles on, especially on subs like this.
Neudesic isn't suggesting pushing out of the box AI into Linux distros.
This is about businesses adopting machine learning for large data sets and integrating any Linux environments that may be present in a work flow, including things like the Linux subsystem.
AI is an umbrella term and isn't inherently a bad thing. In fact the machine learning arm of the term is fucking fantastic in certain applications, particularly in some business areas.
Don't just see a word and spaz out, it makes the community at whole look childish. Like it or not, AI is present and lots of people are using it or pushing it, and it's not just suit and ties anymore.

This is most likely because:
Your post belongs in r/linuxquestions or r/linux4noobs
Your post belongs in r/linuxmemes
Your post is considered "fluff" - things like a Tux plushie or old Linux CDs are an example and, while they may be popular vote wise, they are not considered on topic
Your post is otherwise deemed not appropriate for the subreddit
Yeah, no thanks. Crap like Co-pilot/Recall is insane to embed into an OS. Haven't used Windows in a long long time and even I'm shocked. Right now Apple is graciously allowing me to use the off switch on Apple Intelligence, but I suspect it's only a matter of time until it's accidentally and silently enabled and, oops, look at that, we've lost the off switch. I thought these Google voice assistants that listen constantly in the background was an insane level of surveillance but baking AI into your OS is next level bad.
Linux is my only refuge at this point. AI is fine, when I want it, and on my terms. Don't put this crap in my OS with the right to crawl through every byte on my hard drive. Who wants this? I've always joked that Windows was malware, but now it actually is.
Fuck no. I'd rather rm -rf my root directory than watch my system get enshittified right before my horrified eyes. The AI shit is part of the reason I ditched windows in the first place
Nope. You don't need an AI. These mega corpos promoting this filth, oh just use it everywhere, the fucking society is not built to withstand this crap.
yeah, if someone wants to have AI on their OS, they install it themselves, not have it automatically embedded into the OS with it being very difficult to disable
IIRC AMD has the AI processing bit in the CPU instead of using the GPU to do it. But then again there is OpenCL if someone has enough time to use that.
ROCm should be easy to use on most popular distros atm, but hardware support remains a problem. Though that's slowly improving as they cover most of their new GPUs and phase out older hardware like RDNA2.
oh hell nah. "AI-enabled environments" == "We want to bloat your distro with AI".
No thanks Microsoft, just because you've screwed up windows doesn't give you the right to come after our penguins, I like my freedom to choose.

I'm okay with local AI systems
