::rolls eyes:: Tarmac

What exactly are they supposed to call it besides what it is called?
codysdad89@reddit
It's not a formal aviation term, which is why it's humorous to aviation people. Each part of the airport surface area has its own name (runway, taxiway, ramp area, runup pad.)

So then it would make sense to use a general term for the plane area that the general public comprehends rather than the esoteric jargon.

Yes, it seems most people agree with you. It's just not a term anyone uses & saying "car drives onto runway" is also extremely clear and well understood.

Did it end on the runway? Do you know that? Does the reporter writing this story on limited information know that?
I havent seen an image of where it ended, you made a whole point about how the airport surface has a collection of technical terms for specific parts and are now guessing at what happened.
Saying it ended on the tarmac lacks some specificity but is correct, your version of events might be specific but it might also just be wrong!
Its much better to be general and correct

"anyone" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here

I get what you’re saying, but it’s a losing battle fighting colloquialisms.
Try explaining that entree means “appetizer” and see how many eyes roll at your next dinner gathering.

The notable aspect of this story isn't that the chase ended on the tarmac at Love Field, it's that police were even involved. Typically the main response to a hit and run is to maybe take a report over the phone the next day.

Did you read the article?
It happened on July 4 around 6:10 a.m. Police said a man was driving a car when he intentionally hit another car in a parking lot. The man then rammed his car through a gate and drove into the secured tarmac area of the airport.
