For my fellow DFW runners - the full loop at Cypress Waters in Coppell is open again!

This loop has been on my running bucket list for years and I’ve finally been getting out there to try it several times over the last few months, but it’s been closed going both directions for quite some time now.
On Wednesday I went out to just run the open parts of the trail, and on the East side the gate is finally gone and I got to do the entire thing. I figured I would get to run until I hit the construction on the West side and then turn back, but they actually have a diversion open that allows you to complete the entire loop. I did 5 miles with some walking before and after the run, so you could easily make it 6 for the full loop, or even more if you want to do multiple laps
This is one of the coolest runs I’ve done in the entire metroplex, and I can’t recommend it enough. I will say the diversion on the west side is kind of rough and involves some light route finding, but it’s not too bad.

That's nice. How much of what used to be North Lake is left?

Thanks for sharing; this is great. I pulled up some recent aerial imagery of the area, from earlier this year, and measured the following distances for the lake loop: * North section, asphalt: 0.7 mi * West section, unpaved: 1.2 mi * South section, concrete: 2.4 mi * East section, unpaved: 1.2 mi
Total: 5.5 mi. I also updated the trail on OpenStreetMap and that'll filter out to Strava and other trail & fitness apps over the next weeks. Parts of that area are under active construction though, so things may already be different in places.
As for the question about parking, yes, it's plentiful, bountiful even. In fact you can see on the map that most of the developed land there is devoted to car storage. (Though some of those garages are private.)

What’s the total distance? Where do you park if you don’t reside in Coppell?

There’s tons of free parking off Olympus Blvd. I believe the full loop is between 5 and 6 miles

Thank you!

I really appreciate this update OP. Is it all paved how it is in your pic, or is some of it unpaved?
w6750@reddit (OP)
Nope, it’s got some pretty long unpaved sections. Particularly on the west side when you take the diversion around the construction

Nope, it’s got some very long unpaved sections. After the gate on the West side pretty much all the way past the dam to the other side of the lake is unpaved, and then the entire diversion on the West side (after the section pictured) is also unpaved.
