I think it's fair and desirable to designate certain spaces as politics-free zones, because people of all stripes need spaces to just screw around and shoot the shit and let off steam and come together where we can; it's a valuable way to remember our common humanity, and frankly for my mental health I need spaces like it; I can't be furious ALL the time. There are bars with posted rules they'll toss you if you start talking about politics or religion, because it frequently leads to bar fights and that's not what they're there for. If the rule is clearly posted here, and there's a second sub (linked in that rule) specifically FOR discussing politics, *that* part doesn't strike me as unreasonable at all. But that note...that note sucks.
