I’ve owned the mp5, stribog SP9A3, and the Kuna and I would absolutely get the bog or mp5 clone over the Kuna. Wasn’t a bad gun but it’s just not in the same league as those two

Dish on the differences between the Kuna and the A3, I'm cross shopping and they seem identical on paper

For me the biggest notice I saw was the weight distribution. The kuna doesnr seem to have the weight in the right places and I noticed slightly more jumpy recoil. It almost felt like it was going up and left. The bog feels to have a heavier upper. The Kuna weighs more overall but the balance overall makes a hell off a difference to me. What other questions you got my friend? Be happy to answer.

I think if they had released it as it was when TFBTV showed it at INFORCTAC (I think that’s where it was released) it would’ve had a better value prop. Springfield won’t import that stock nor does it come with the trilug on the barrel. I thought I was gonna bend my barrel trying to get that muzzle device off tbh.

Fit and finish is fine I don’t really have any negative to say about that but I will say the safety on the A3 is incredible compared to the Kuna. You really gotta give it some ass to get it past the detent it seems. The A3 is buttery smooth imo. I got tiny bitch hands and I just found it to be something that I had to give extra effort to instead of a seamless transition like an AR safety or the A3 safety.

I will say I really do like the mags on the kuna and the mag well. They’re beefy as fuck and easy to seat home in a jiffy. The bolt release is sweet on it too. I prefer that over the bogs release tbh.

You can get different locking pieces with the bog where as the kuna doesnt support that at least not yet so you can tune the A3 depending on grain and if suppressed

For full disclosure I was planning to splurge and get a Lingle lower and scorp mags if I went with the A3 and in either case the gun would be suppressed 24/7. Are the locking pieces OEM or aftermarket?

I think it’s aftermarket or maybe OEM but GP doesnr sell them in the US. Rumor has it that they will hear soon. If not you gotta buy it from a company in Estonia lol

It amazes me how much age the MP5 has on it and in 2025 is still the king of recoil.

I haven't shot the Kuna yet so maybe it's better. But personally I'd buy an MP5 clone before this, but that's just me.

I’ve owned a few ap5’s and they all had some sort of issues, had to send two back to century. Got tired of messing with them in and sold them. Picking up a kuna soon. While not mp5 soft, I think the modularity, modern controls and reliability make up for it.

For mine the trick was replacing the ejector lever and extractor spring with OEM HK parts and using HK mags and see runs like dream now. The HK mags are sooo much better. They really are worth it.

But I get what you mean. There's pros and cons either way, especially the MP5 manual of arms being so different

It’s all about the weight. Mp5 without mag is like 6.5 pounds. An MPX which is probably the closest recoil wise is still only about 5. Even when they make good delaying mechanisms, if the gun is aluminum and polymer it won’t help

Sage Dynamics did a review and said the difference in felt recoil between the Kuna and an MP5 is minimal; basically the sights move like an extra millimeter or two during recoil. The minuscule difference in recoil seems worth the ergonomic improvements.

A ffl guy who works with foreign militaries brought in a full auto mp5 to the range I worked at in California and let me shoot the thing. Out of everything I’ve shot in my life the full auto mp5 was one of the best handling smg platform I’ve ever shot. Even though the platform is old I still think it’s an S tier sub gun compared to even some modern platforms.
