Fun_Extreme_1657@reddit
Noob question. I have a single shot trust through silencer shop, what’s needed to transfer to nationalguntrusts?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You would need to use the ATF Form 4 to transfer the single shot trust firearms into your new gun trust. That transfer is currently $200. If you can wait until January 1, 2026, that will be a $0 transfer.
Fun_Extreme_1657@reddit
In other words, by this now and wait until 1/1/26 and form 4 transfer it for $0?
inco_jay@reddit
I have my nfa items as an individual and will be getting this to transfer everything to on Jan 1 2026 with the $0 transfer fee.
Opa1979@reddit
Please Explain how this works like I’m 5… bc I have the mind of a 5 yr old
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
January 1, 2026 tax stamps for suppressors and SBR's will be $0. They are currently $200. If you need to move individually owned NFA firearms into a trust, it will be best to wait until January 1, 2026.
RipInPepz@reddit
This might be a stupid question. Are the $0 on that day only? Or starting from that day, forward?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
From what we understand, it will be starting that day moving forward.
bonesaw4570@reddit
Is this just to transfer them? Or to buy suppressors and SBRs? Just starting on January 1 or will this continue from there forward
InvisibleCat@reddit
Both making them and transferring. Nothing changes other than it being free now.
squirtbottle@reddit
So I just made a trust. Do I need to get it notarized prior to sending it into Silencerco for additional purchases?
Come January 1 what steps do I need to take to move my current individual items over to a trust?
salem_lakes_armory@reddit
Why is it Jan 1st? Thought it was 90 days which would put it Oct 4th?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
The bill has to be published in the Federal Register first. That is when the timer starts. The Federal Register is updated quarterly. So it should be included with the current Q3 Federal Register. That means the 90 day timer will start after September.
salem_lakes_armory@reddit
Ahhh thank you, I learned something new today
Lena-Luthor@reddit
what's the deal, their comment was deleted
salem_lakes_armory@reddit
Not sure, they just said it was Jan 1st because of the federal register posting updated laws at the end of the quarter
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You are very welcome. If you remember the free brace tax stamps, it was the same concept.
ShowMeYourFeet87@reddit
That is when the $0 NFA goes into affect? Next year?
inco_jay@reddit
it starts after 90 days and then the next quarter, so 90 days from now is october, and then the next quarter starts Jan 1.
priusrepellent@reddit
I will be doing the same thing, the amount of forms submitted that day is going to be insane
xX_Monster97_Xx@reddit
Same. Ill be submitting about 7 at the minimum.
priusrepellent@reddit
At least 5 for me hahah
Bourbon-neat-@reddit
Oh shit, didn't even think about not having to pay to transfer individual items to trust. That's big brain shit.
ChiefTitan808@reddit
good idea!!!
RemindMe! - 190 Days
GTE_Engineering@reddit
That’s… not a bad idea
Ibuprofen-Headgear@reddit
I’ve basically avoided anything nfa related due to all the nonsense associated with it, but am curious about a few things, and if a trust changes any of this:
Suppose I have a trust created with you all
I’m assuming fingerprints and photos are still per transaction?
Can you put more than one item in one transfer - like buy 3 suppressors and do one round of bullshit?
Form 1, same basic questions
How many people can I add to my trust (I’m assuming infinite, but there will be overhead), and what are the requirements to add a person? Like wife, parents, other family, etc
If this is all in a FAQ, sorry
I last looked into all this a few years ago, so haven’t entirely kept up. I’ll also do my own research outside of asking here. I also vaguely remember there being something like having to notify a sheriff or something like that, or was that probably just a state thing (my state has no restrictions beyond fed at this point, so if it was, it’s not any more).
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
EDIT Answers:
Ibuprofen-Headgear@reddit
Thanks so much for answering, I know it was a bunch of questions. Planning on buying a “complete package” from you all, haven’t 100% decided what, anything, I’ll end up adding to it, but it will be there when needed
Seems like it would be easiest then to set up the trust for my wife and I, buy whatever number of things I have on my list, then add addl people. As in, seems like it would be easier to add us two, then add 10 items (random number) then add my dad and/or another family member, from the perspective of amount of paperwork per item.
I thought the 1 and 4 were very similar, as you said, but for some reason a couple of the current guides / lists made it seem like there was some weird gotcha for 4s. I’ll prob have a mix anyway since I’ve had some ideas for F1 stuff for a bit just never wanted to deal with all this.
Seems like you basically have to put any coresidents on the trust unless you lock stuff in a manner they can’t access it.
Anything exist to make interstate travel less weird? Always been odd to me that it’s all federal stuff laws, but then for some reason they don’t apply federally (given the respective states don’t have their own restrictions, my state does not)
HD_Pickles@reddit
I have one can as an individual through SS. Would I have to redo my fingerprints or anything if I set up a trust and add it to my SS account?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes, you would need to submit fingerprint cards when you transfer your NFA firearms to a new trust. If you want ss to use our gun trust for your future purchases, you can upload it to your ss account.
Drexx_Redblade@reddit
For all the dudes with individual NFA Items, buy this now, wait for Jan 1st, then transfer for $0.
dorritos29@reddit
What if I dont have any NFA items? Ive always wanted to get NFA stuff but wasn't a fan of the tax stamps.
Should I buy this trust now, wait for Jan and then just go crazy with buying?
omahusker@reddit
Buy this trust now and then put all your $0 tax stamps on it
Super-Country7@reddit
Kinda new to all of this and trying to understand. Am I correct in thinking that it’s better to have things in a trust? And that, although the normal NFA tax stamps will become $0, the trust token will not, which is why we should buy it now?
omahusker@reddit
I believe on an individual if you leave the earth, no one can be the beneficiary of your nfa items or if they can it is very complicated.
With a trust you can have a beneficiary and also add responsible people (people who you can leave your nfa items with and they are allowed to possess and use them.)
I’d buy this trust now because the op is probably the best in the business and they have this deal today. Then once the $0 goes in to effect, you can transfer anything you have on an individual to your trust at $0, you just have to file the paperwork with the atf.
Drexx_Redblade@reddit
It's also important if you have a spouse or children(once they're of legal age). If you have an NFA item as an individual and they have access to it (like a key or code to the safe) when you're not around you both are committing a felony. With a trust you can add them as a responsible person and they can legally have access to it when you're not around.
Scenario: Your brother wants to borrow your suppressor to go hunting. If it's owned as an individual, you both go straight to pound me in the ass prison. If it's owned as a trust you add him as a responsible person and he can borrow it whenever you want him to.
Ibuprofen-Headgear@reddit
Can I add “USA/*” to my trust?
Drexx_Redblade@reddit
Not a lawyer, but I believe they have to be a specific legal person.
alltheblues@reddit
A trust gives you a hell of a lot more flexibility with possession, use, and ownership.
Drexx_Redblade@reddit
Yeah buy it now this is as cheap as it gets usually.
boner4stoner@reddit
I have 1 suppressor as an individual and 1 suppressor on a One-Shot trust. Can I put more individual tax stamps on the One-Shot trust I have or should I get one of these and put them on there? Unsure on how it all works in regards to One-Shot trusts.
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
The single shot gun trust is only valid for one firearm. Our gun trusts can be used with multiple firearms.
boner4stoner@reddit
Got it, thank you.
GreedyHousing5559@reddit
So I can buy this today, and wait until after Jan 1 to get my NFA items in a trust?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes you can do that.
ThatEnginerd@reddit
Can I get this now and finish it after my daughter is born in about a month
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes you can. That won't be an issue at all.
WoozyKinkajou@reddit
I don't have any NFA items at the moment. However, I plan to get suppressors after Jan 1, 2026. Should I get this now along with the EFT fingerprint service since both are discounted?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes you can, if you want to prepare and get everything ready. You can also wait and order those items in the future closer to the time that you need them.
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)

Frequently Asked Questions:
Explain to me what a gun trust is like a I am a five-year old.: It's a legal document that allows multiple people to share and use certain types of firearms, like suppressors or short-barreled rifles. The trust is a legal entity that officially owns the guns in it, and the trust beneficiaries are legally permitted to continue using the firearms after the owner's death by transferring the firearms to them either using the ATF Form 5 or by abiding by any state or federal transfer laws. Firearms within the gun trust would also skip probate.
Can I use your gun trust with my Silencer Shop Account/Orders?: Yes, you can use our gun trust with your Silencer Shop account and orders. Simply upload a copy of your notarized gun trust to your Silencer Shop account, and they will use it for your future orders. Our gun trust is also more affordable compared to Silencer Shop's traditional gun trust.
Can you add a co-trustee in the future?: Yes, you can use the co-trustee amendment that is included with the gun trust to add a co-trustee in the future. Already approved tax stamps won't require added co-trustees to submit paperwork to the ATF. You would only need to send the newly added co-trustees information to the ATF when you are applying for a new tax stamp.
Can I purchase an NFA item before getting it notarized?: Yes you can. You would only need to have the gun trust notarized before you can apply for a tax stamp.
Can I transfer individually owned NFA firearms into a gun trust?: Yes, you can add individually owned NFA firearms into a gun trust. By transferring the firearms from yourself as an individual to the gun trust using ATF Form 4, you can enjoy the benefits of the trust while still possessing the firearms during the approval process. But note, that you would need to pay the ATF $200 again per NFA firearm to transfer the NFA firearm from yourself as an individual to your gun trust.
Can I make changes to the gun trust in the future? What does that process look like?: Yes, you can make changes to the gun trust in the future. The process for making changes to the gun trust is simple. You can print the appropriate amendment form, complete it, have it notarized, signed, and dated. Once notarized, the amendment is considered executed and effective. The gun trust amendments are included free with our gun trust paperwork.
Are there any additional fees to setup a NFA gun trust?: No, the charge of $41.97 for the gun trust is a one-time charge. Once you purchase the trust, there are no additional fees or recurring charges associated with it. However, when applying for a tax stamp there are costs associated with fingerprinting, passport photos, the ATF tax stamp itself. You may need to pay for a notary to notarize the trust, although there are many free notaries at banks, you can use a friend, co-worker, etc.
How fast are gun trusts approved by the ATF?: The gun trust isn't necessarily "pre-approved" by the ATF. The ATF will review your gun trust when you apply for a tax stamp. The current wait times for tax stamp approvals from the ATF are experiencing delays. While the ATF states a wait time of 45 days, the actual delivery of approved tax stamps can take 90+ days or more for a gun trust. We have seen our gun trusts approved in as little as 10 days in many cases.
Do you still need to add the approved silencer using the assignment sheet even if I have an approved tax stamp? Yes, you do need to add the approved silencer using the assignment sheet even if you already have an approved tax stamp. The assignment sheet is typically used to transfer title 1 firearms into the gun trust or add title 2 firearms after the tax stamp approval.
Randyd718@reddit
what are the minimum add-ons i would need in order to establish the trust? like maybe the fingerprint cards and the EFT file service?
i am interested in SBR/suppressor in the future, but would like to get all my current "NON-NFA" firearms into the trust and add my partner.
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
No add-ons are needed to establish the gun trust. You would need to have the gun trust notarized in order to execute it. The fingerprint cards or .EFT File aren’t required to establish the gun trust. They are needed when you apply for the tax stamp applications.
You can use our gun trust with your non-NFA firearms and NFA firearms in the future.
Randyd718@reddit
thank you for the quick response. you mean i would just buy it, fill it out, print it, and go get it notarized? then what? send it to the ATF somehow? do i need to keep the notarized sheet on hand until i die?
once that is done, how do i actually get my partner and current collection of firearms added to it? free forms thru the ATF?
sounds like i would need to grab the fingerprint cards and EFT file whenever i decide to buy a suppressor or build an SBR? is that process basically like buy something online, send to FFL, and then i put it in the trusts name instead of my own when i take ownership?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
After the trust is notarized, it is executed and you can then use it in conjunction with your tax stamp applications. You would keep your original gun trust and only need to send a copy to the ATF when you are applying for a tax stamp application.
If they are title 1 firearms you can add your firearms at your leisure. NFA firearms can be added using the ATF Form 4. The cost is $200 for that transfer now. But should be free come January 1, 2026.
Yes that is correct. And yes you can use the .EFT File for eForm applications. The physical cards would be needed when you apply on paper.
Stifmeister21@reddit
Do I have to purchase a separate .EFT file for every person who I want to share the NFA items with or can I just purchase one .EFT file and have multiple people use it?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes you would. The .EFT File service is needed for each responsible person within the gun trust.
Randyd718@reddit
Add title 1 firearms at my leisure how?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You would use the assignment sheet that we include within the gun trust to add your title 1 firearms that you own into the gun trust.
SpaceCampDropOut@reddit
Do you know if I have to send in a new fingerprint card or can they use the one they got when I got my conceal carry card in Georgia?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Unfortunately, you would need to submit new fingerprint cards or .EFT file each time you apply for a tax stamp.
Taco-Rice@reddit
Questions here, would someone need multiple gun trusts or just one? Is there added benefit to having multiple? Would multiple just imply that one may be fore 1 set of people, and the other would be for a different set of people?
TYVM!
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes that is typically the reason why you might have more than one gun trust. We have seen other people create a gun trust for the different types of firearms that they own, one for SBR's, one for suppressors, one for title 1 firearms, etc. But typically, you would only need one.
Taco-Rice@reddit
One other question now that I picked it up: Do I need to complete the paperwork now or can I wait until Jan 1st 2026? I don't have any NFA items right now, but I am planning to get a couple when the $0 bill goes into effect.
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You can complete the trust now or more towards January. If you do wait until January, we can also revise your gun trust if you need to make any changes before you have it notarized.
Taco-Rice@reddit
Sounds great - in the case I'll wait. Appreciate all the info and willingness to answer questions!
Taco-Rice@reddit
Thanks a bunch for the help! I'll pick one up now :)
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You are very welcome, please let us know if you have any other questions.
DrScaryGuy@reddit
hey. I'm interested in making individual trusts for 6 del-ton lowers i picked up when they were going out of business, and maybe a few other items (in case in 18months the next omnibus bill drives the tax up to $5k or so). Are you guys doing "unlimited" or bulk deals?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
We don't have any bulk pricing at this time, but I will pass on your request. We do have single firearm gun trusts that are also on sale for the 4th of July for $13 too.
BigWillyTX@reddit
I don't have any NFA items but I am definitely interested in suppressors and SBRs.
Seems like this is a no-brainer to get started.
Who should I actually add to my trust? If anyone other than myself?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You don't need to name any co-trustees on your gun trust. Most common co-trustees are parties who will obviously be using the firearms without your supervision, but perhaps a spouse, child (if they are over the age of 18), friend or family member.
BigWillyTX@reddit
I assume I should purchase the Texas specific trust as that is where I live and plan to continue to live?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
I apologize for the confusion, you can order the gun trust service from our website. On the checkout page, we will ask you for your county/state, that is when your gun trust will be made for Texas.
M_Betty@reddit
If I transfer my NFA items to a trust on Jan26 do I need to re engrave with trust name?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
No you wouldn’t. ATF Form 4 firearms don’t need to be re-engraved.
M_Betty@reddit
Another question. I have my fingerprints done on silencershop. Can I get them and send those to you, or do I need to do a new fingerprint card
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
When you apply for the ATF Form 4, you will need to apply for yourself. That means you would need to complete your own cards. We have fingerprint card kits that can be used to create your fingerprints at home at a reasonable price.
Amazing_Armadillo429@reddit
That's a good question, and would be annoying!
ibnhall@reddit
I have one trust and a few individual. Would I need a new trust or just transfer to my existing trust? This might be a crazy question but just looking for confirmation.
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You have a single shot trust? That is only valid for one firearm. If you are looking to have all of your firearms in one gun trust, our gun trust can help you with that.
ibnhall@reddit
Yes it is a single shot. Thanks for clearing that up.
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You are very welcome. Let us know if we can help you with any other questions.
Amazing_Armadillo429@reddit
u/NationalGunTrusts how does this compare to SilencerShop’s NFA product and why should I choose you over them?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Our gun trust that we sell is equivalent to their $129 unlimited firearm gun trust. Our customer service is more responsive if and when you need help with your gun trust, questions, changes, etc.
Amazing_Armadillo429@reddit
Understood, thank you!
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You are welcome. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Amazing_Armadillo429@reddit
My SBR is individual and my suppressor is SilencerShop single shot. The suppressor won’t be a problem to transfer from trust to trust, correct?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
That is correct. You would use the ATF Form 4 to transfer the firearm into your gun trust.
Amazing_Armadillo429@reddit
Forgot to ask. If I name a co-trustee but don't have them do the fingerprints right away is my trust invalid until that's completed? I would like my spouse to be a co-trustee, successor trustee and beneficiary. But I can always add them as a co-trustee later.
Amazing_Armadillo429@reddit
Great. Thanks!
Aerofirefighter@reddit
Is this still helpful in states like WA?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes our gun trust can be used for NFA firearms in WA.
teek636@reddit
I already have a Trust from when I bought my silencer from Silencer Shop.
In the future I’m planning to purchase another silencer or SBR a rifle I built.
My question is, I’ll need to purchase two stamps (or more if I want anything else) then I can add these items to the trust?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes that is correct. You would transfer them using the ATF Form 4. Hopefully though, January 1st, 2026 those transfers will be free.
teek636@reddit
Thanks!

What do you do with the trust once you receive the suppressor from the FFL?
Are you supposed to have the serial numbers listed and and the trust re-notorized or anything?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You won’t need to re-notarize your gun itself. But you would need to have the assignment sheet completed and notarized though.

Personally, my experience with CS has been mixed. Really easy to get started and get your first few questions answered.
A few years on now, I haven't even been able to get an email response (if I wasn't new to buying a trust). Getting someone on the phone has also proven difficult. It seems like they are one of the better companies out there (maybe?) but temper your expectations.
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
I am sorry to hear that you weren't able to get a response by email, that is highly uncommon. Are you emailing orders@nationaldata.pro? I can't say why you weren't able to get in touch by phone. NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)

Suspicious_Canary128@reddit
So do the shops usually have the trust or does everyone that wants an NFA item have their own (or family/friend) trust?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
The owner of the firearm will usually have their own gun trust that they add friends and family to.
Privy_the_thought@reddit
Are any other services worth paying for now even if I don't plan to get an NFA item for some time? Seems easier just to get this part out the way and prepped then start looking later.
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Perhaps an .EFT File, if you are planning to apply online? Having that completed will help you with your eForm applications when you decide to apply.
Privy_the_thought@reddit
Thank you for the quick reply. I just purchased it. On the form it says to name a CO trustee and it looks like that's required. I wasn't planning to add anyone any time soon. How would I proceed?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Co-trustees aren't required. You can simply select to have no co-trustees on the form.
indiglowaves@reddit
I don’t own any NFA items but am planning to after January 1st. I wanna get a couple silencers and SBR my 10.3” AR. I don’t really share my stuff with friends or family and am mostly a solo but I want my kid to get my stuff when I pass. This is basically what I need to ensure that happens right?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes that is correct. With a gun trust, you are able to use it with your silencers, SBR's, machine guns, etc and name your son as a beneficiary to easily transfer the firearms to him when you pass away. When he is over the age of 18, you can also add him as a co-trustee.
indiglowaves@reddit
Does this apply to “standard” firearms like a Glock 17 or a “regular” 16” AR? I feel like an idiot still even after reading your long comment in this thread explaining things.
I get the trust now, and when I purchase a silencer or sbr a rifle I have to amend my trust and get it notarized?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes you can use the gun trust with your title 1 "standard" firearms. Yes, you can use the gun trust with your tax stamp applications. After your tax stamp is approved, you would still need to use the assignment sheet to assign and transfer the firearms into the gun trust. The assignment sheet does need to be notarized.
smokeshowwalrus@reddit
Is this for only one person to be involved in the trust or can there be multiple members (not sure what the correct term is)? I imagine it would be nice for me and my family members to be able to share nfa items once they’re acquired and to have a way to make sure that they aren’t an issue when it comes to inheritance.
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You can be the only responsible person within your gun trust or you can add co-trustees to your gun trust, which can be your family members, friends or others.
SmittyWerbenJJ_No1@reddit
Does it cost money to add trustees at a later time?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
No it doesn't. We include all of the necessary amendments in the gun trust .PDF and you can use our automated amendment generators to create the amendment to amend your gun trust in the future.
smokeshowwalrus@reddit
I appreciate the response, can all that be done at the time of creation?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes that is correct. You can also amend your gun trust in the future if you need to change your gun trust.
UpThePooper186@reddit
I always get confused. Trusts are a 1 time purchase right? I bought an sbr and did it under a trust. So it’s free to continue throwing things onto the trust after the tax stamps are gone
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes that is correct.
corruptbytes@reddit
the only good sale this year, will see you january 1st o7
Excellent_Act_8302@reddit
Would this make the process faster of acquiring a tax stamp? I’m planning to wait until they’re free, but expect the wait time to be long.
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Applying with a gun trust won't speed up or slow down your tax stamp application approval in most cases. If you have a lot of co-trustees on your gun trust it can delay the approval. However, typically gun trusts and individuals applications are both being approved quickly.
DrScaryGuy@reddit
9 or 10 days for all of my trust stuff for the past couple years. 1 RP with eft or silencershop, 1 residual beneficiary, and submitting a 24mo exception letter with each one to try to speed it up.
Trusts still take noticeably longer than individual - but are still much MUCH faster than it was a few years ago.
romang12@reddit
What is the process to transfer nfa item from individual to the trust?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
You would need to use the ATF Form 4 to transfer the NFA firearm from yourself to your gun trust. That cost is now $200. If everything goes as we are being told, that transfer will be $0 in January 2026.
priusrepellent@reddit
Can you do that with an eform 4 yourself on the atf eforms website or does it have to be paper?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
If you aren’t an FFL, you will need to apply on paper. We are hearing and seeing some paper ATF Form 4’s coming back in 2 to 4 months.
romang12@reddit
Awesome. I already have a trust that I bought from you guys. Will just wait until January 2026 to transfer it. I have 1 sbr that I want to transfer. I also have 1 single shot trust from silencer shop, will it be also possible to transfer that to my National Gun Trust?
NationalGunTrusts@reddit (OP)
Yes, you can transfer your SBR and firearm on your single shot gun trust to our gun trust in January tax free, assuming everything still moves forward.
Entire_Routine_3621@reddit
Can you put non nfa items here? For example, guns you want to put in a trust in the unfortunate case you are hit by a bus.
