Government Funding Cuts

So with all the political schtuffs happening I was curious how other people are impacted or what the most obvious and unusual situations you've just found yourself due to losing funds but still wanting to be employed/able and useful in your current gig. Mine: All those coder bootcamps and hobby projects have resulted in me programming new software for my org to restore the "usefulness" balance back into my control. Unless and until the current US government changes course the moneyeggs have told me that I will only have money for hardware, so I've been coding frontends for powershell actions for other engineers and little python tools to handle niche problems throughout the org. My grab-bag web stack now has flask, python, powershell, two databases and api connectivity to M365 Graph... Woohoooo. Look at me, parental units!!! I'm a...developer....now....\*coughs\*. I'll go push updates to Windows now. Have a great day, y'all

Our interests are as follows: a secure border, energy independence, cheap groceries, lower interest rates, bring jobs back to US soil, stop using abortion as birth control, quit sexualizing children, lower taxes, smaller government, and leave us the hell alone. What's the problem?

I work for an east coast ivy league school. We're getting straight fucked by this admin. Research is going to suffer immensely.

Pretty sure research was already fucked due to enrolling people based on **anything** except merit.

I'm in the Higher Education system. Not a great deal of money and many Universities are scraping by. But we see the knock-on effects both of research funding withdrawals and the number of joint bapplications from US Academics wanting to relocate.

Hospice care org. It’s going to hit our residents really hard. A good number of them are on Medicaid. Hopefully we can get more funding to help compensate and take care of these people.

It’s very clear that this administration is rotten to the core. Yet you still see people justifying whatever chaotic/harmful actions it takes. Even if it clearly will harm them as well It’s all fine and great if you’re part of this administration. Many of us are not.

Yeah my parents will be hurt by this too. A lot of people knows someone who are in the same situation. I’m not a violent person but I’m guessing… hoping some of these people are and will do something about it

I work for a library but in an area where we have our own budget and taxes. It hasn't effected that but these changed tariffs suck ass. My sales rep at govconnection told me some of the boats refuse to dock. So some things are out of stock randomly until a boat decides to dock . I had konica printers that went up in price $300 or so since the new pres came in.

Yeah it’s not just gov. I’m in an industry that is completely unaffected by gov cuts (aside from customers that used to work there don’t, etc) and our sales are ultra soft so, like you, I’m being… resourceful.

yeah it's not just affecting companies. it's affecting customers of companies, partnerships, NGOs, non-profits, charities, healthcare... Hang in there.

I work for a non profit that runs early headstarts and adult day services for disabled individuals. Hiring freezes are already being placed and they are closing one head start due to funding being cut.

I'm in the public sector and work extensively with our onboarding/offboarding processes. The last 6 months have been hell, and I don't expect it's going to get any better.

I work for a municipal government, so far the only impact of reduced federal money for us has been having to shelf an enterprise document management system. I'm hoping things don't trickle down worse but hoping our own economy will help us weather the next few years.
