Anyone fed up of how many ads YouTube is giving?

It’s becoming unwatchable. Not like the content has gotten better in the past few years too.
zxlyve@reddit
if i see that god forbidden lucozade bring the energy advert one more time i’m never watching youtube again
First_Folly@reddit
It's hideous when I watch it on devices outside of my control. The casino ads. The blatantly AI narrated ads. The AI assistant ads. The shit mobile game ads. That scratchy-voiced harpy that narrates the dominos adverts.
I'm not interested in any of this shit.
SolGndr9drift@reddit
Pink Hamalayan Salt Trick fake ai Oprah. Absurd!
emil_@reddit
Thank fuck (and adblockers) i haven't got a single clue what you're talking about.
EndNew4490@reddit
Haha right? Adblocker who?
reedy2903@reddit
Which one you using they don’t all work anymore
emil_@reddit
Firefox + uBlock on laptop. VPN in Tirana on iPhone. And i've yet to do anything about it on TV as i don't use it for yt at all 🤷🏻♂️
a_boy_called_sue@reddit
YT on TV is a cancer truly
flyblues@reddit
I use SmartTube Beta on my TV and it works great
Quinn_27@reddit
Which model of TV is that?
What’s the OS?
flyblues@reddit
It uses Google TV (basically Android for TVs, just rebranded)
Secure_Vacation_7589@reddit
I now stream my PC to TV through a fire stick, rather than using its shitty built in YT app.
colei_canis@reddit
That’s unfair, there’s been huge amounts of progress in treating a variety of cancers but ads only metastasise further.
andyteg@reddit
SuperTube can be sideloaded onto Android TV sticks - game changing!
Agent_-Ant-_@reddit
Yeah I run it on my fire cube. Absolute god send.
AuroraHalsey@reddit
uBlock origin blocks everything still.
Jebus_UK@reddit
Does it, mine stopped working recently.
Gandalf_93@reddit
They stopped supporting it on chrome a few months back, though it still works. You have to re-enable it by going to your extensions settings
MyNameIsMrEdd@reddit
Ublock origin lite works on Vivaldi which is chromium based, I guess it'll work on chrome proper. I've not tried it though.
Jebus_UK@reddit
Ahh, ok, thanks. I'll give that a try
defnoytoned@reddit
Brave on mobile
tobylh@reddit
Brave browser seems to block the ads. Never see them unless it’s the YT app on the telly.
normanriches@reddit
Brave browser works perfectly, no addons required.
Captains_Parrot@reddit
For Androids use ReVanced, it's basically Youtube Premium or whatever it's called.
JGlover92@reddit
Wish you could cast from ReVanced, would be a game changer
Cub3h@reddit
It's much better than the paid for product which is not how things should be.
GatorShinsDev@reddit
Opera gx and ublock origin work fine for me.
zillapz1989@reddit
Brave browser
bucketsofskill@reddit
ublock on desktop. Or install New Pipe on your phone.
mdeeebeee-101@reddit
ad-block for YT on chrome OSX....seamless.
selvans67@reddit
In my case ùblock origin on Firefox was working fine up until last week.
BrieflyVerbose@reddit
I watch through my smart TV so I don't even think adblockers are a thing on there.
woods60@reddit (OP)
I actually made this post to talk about the Revolut ad. It’s a guy in a restaurant saying “Imma a chihuahua” or “Imma new chihuahua” or “Imma needyour wah wah” and it doesn’t even make sense. Triggers me
DRDICKMD@reddit
i HATE that one it's the fact that all the different versions of that ad are all chopped up from one long clip that drives me up the fucking wall because there's no pause between any of the words or shots when they're trying to stuff it in a 5 second version or one you can skip after 5 seconds. the way he says his name is so fucking irritating for some reason and it happens the instant the ad starts so there's no time to mute it i hate it so much
woods60@reddit (OP)
Mate 100% agree😂😂
S_G_H_02@reddit
Me too mate. Hate the “comedian” from the ad despite having no previous exposure to him. Probably shown the ad like 10 times a day tbh
woods60@reddit (OP)
So far I’ve found me, you and some other guy on Reddit who excessively hate that ad
Plastic-Guide-9627@reddit
i hate it too, its so common that i can't go one youtube video without that ad playing at some point. why did Revolut pay so much to make sure we know who he is? he acts like he's some big star in the video but its just so annoying
Unable-Rip-1274@reddit
Oh this one is especially annoying. “I hear the app’s banging”. I THINK he is saying his name, “I’m Manny Chihuahua“, some sort of made up celebrity for the purposes of the advert. But it took being forced to watch it about 30 times to understand that, as it’s so fast and feels like it’s edited poorly.
Bebibobi@reddit
Look for him on Instagram “Munya Chawawa”! He’s hilarious
idris_elbows@reddit
He was on Taskmaster
JGlover92@reddit
His name's Munya Chawawa, he's a real guy. Was on taskmaster a few seasons back
woods60@reddit (OP)
Oh swear
Jebus_UK@reddit
That Monza ad is the worst
"You're a life saver...I'll Monzo you right away". His voice is like nails down a blackboard
He's buys packet of crisps or some shit.
officeja@reddit
Some ads shouldn’t be allowed at all, I seen one of a video of musk and clearly an AI voice saying he created an amazing investment system and there was limited places. Like it was all fake, I’m shocked that YouTube allows this but I guess all they care about is getting cheques
ChipCob1@reddit
I work from home and recently (last two months I'd say) I've started getting ads from suppliers I work with on my TV.
I'm sure it used to be based mainly on my YouTube viewing history rather than my entire network traffic.
It's really annoying to not be able to relax in a yt rabbit hole and forget about work!
InfectedFrenulum@reddit
I HATE the way the narrator on the Domino's ad says the word 'quid'
Felrathror86@reddit
Reminds me of this waiter at a pizza place in Manchester who said "Pizzas take about 50 miiiiins"
So not only "mins" being weird but elongating the i for no reason.
MrlemonA@reddit
50 minuets for a pizza is ridiculous lol
Felrathror86@reddit
It was a deep dish type one, basically what the place was there for. Tasty!
MrlemonA@reddit
I'm not waiting 50 mins for ANY meal in a restaurant, that's wild.
30 mins is about right 40 is pushing it. Glad you enjoyed it though, each to our own
LobsterMountain4036@reddit
Is saying mins weird?
MrlemonA@reddit
No lol
Felrathror86@reddit
Yeah, just say minutes.
LobsterMountain4036@reddit
I don’t see an issue
Toon1982@reddit
"The NEW dominoes price drop...."
Such a scratchy awful voice - had it for months even after clicking that I didn't want to see it anymore
WolfCola4@reddit
She's trying way too hard to over pronounce each word, it's so cringy. Idk if it's correlation or causation but for someone who used to order a lot of Dominos, I've noticed I actually haven't ordered once since those ads started
Engineer__This@reddit
The domino lady really gets on my nerves for some reason. I think it’s because her accent really reminds me of the posh girls you meet at uni who are only there to party. I swear they’ve all got the same accent.
Soggy_Temperature788@reddit
This is glorious! Bravo on the description
GatorShinsDev@reddit
She sounds so full of herself it pissed me off 😅
jderm1@reddit
I can't stand her voice! Don't know what it is but she is grating beyond words. I thought it was just me lol. Plus they've added £2 to all the offer prices recently so she's had to record some new lines...
Jebus_UK@reddit
Pet hate for me to. I just generally hate her voice but in particular that
Daygl0wfires@reddit
Yes I hate this! I wonder if they did research and found more people would think it was cheap if they used the word quid. Fourteen quid isn't even good anyway the ten quid for anything deal was good don't want a small pizza for ten though.
TeetheMoose@reddit
Why? Common word in UK.
tareegon@reddit
I thought I was the only one who felt that. Glad it’s not just me!!!
Ancient_times@reddit
Add to the list the fucking why don't all homes in the UK have solar panels, and the endless hot stream of piss that is PCP car finance scams
Reasonable_Blood6959@reddit
My most hated advert is the shitty cringy Luton Express rap.
It isn’t a problem unique to YouTube but I feel like advertisers are going out their way to irritate the fuck out of me nowadays. I swear off more products because of shitty adverts than ones that actually tempt me
Tammer_Stern@reddit
Worst one was the unwanted Israel adverts that appeared on the first tile on YouTube on my tv.
mellonmarshall@reddit
I try to block them every time and if I can report them then guess what I doing that too
YouJackandDanny@reddit
Yeah - raising an emotional response means you are more likely to be front of the customer’s mind when they enter the market. Doesn’t necessarily have to be an entirely positive emotion for this to work…
Whisky-Toad@reddit
On the other hand I have never ever used go compare because of how irritating the singing guy was
YouJackandDanny@reddit
I quite agree. But if it didn’t work they wouldn’t do it.
garfogamer@reddit
Except there must be lots of people who then think "I remember them - must avoid that shit company/product at all costs". I know I do.
Slothjitzu@reddit
It's a numbers game. Using numbers pulled out of my arse to illustrate:
A perfectly average advert gets remembered by 10% of people and is fairly inexpensive to make.
An amazing advert gets remembered by 20% of people but is fairly expensive to make.
An irritating advert gets remembered by 30% of people and turns off 5%, but it's still fairly inexpensive to make.
PopeLeo14th@reddit
This that "Now rock on, rock on" rap?
Cus its the worst thing ever.
ColonelCustard__@reddit
I cannot reach the mute button fast enough when that shite comes on
Unable-Rip-1274@reddit
The Chase Bank one annoys me for some reason. The way she says “and his?” towards the end particularly grates on me.
trusted-advisor-88@reddit
Bloody paddy power ads are doing my head in when I watch on my phone. Someone needs to come up with a mobile adblock or something.
Cookyy2k@reddit
You cam turn gambling ads off in your Google account. You still get ads but at least it won't be them.
keremsted@reddit
I used the Youtube app on my PS5 and nearly threw the controller after the third unskippable ad
CareBearCartel@reddit
I have a rule. If your shitty product/service/show/other interrupts something I'm watching you're on my shortlist of thing's I'm not going to use.
GatorShinsDev@reddit
I got some ad with an obviously AI doctored video of Jeremy Clarkson trying to sell some shady crypto scheme or something. They're so fussed about the content users upload but don't seem arsed about ads. I've blocked so many casino ads and more appear. Getting to the point that I just plug my Surface into the TV and watch on there with adblock
RainbowPenguin1000@reddit
If you go to your Google account settings you can influence the adverts you see. I did this to turn off the persistent casino ads:
https://myadcenter.google.com/u/0/home?sasb=true&ref=ad-settings
Pheeshfud@reddit
The youtube shorts that not just have ads but are a blatant ad themselves.
AnonymousTimewaster@reddit
If they literally just showed me movie trailers I might be okay with it, but this shit is unbearable. I guess I'm part of the problem because I've decided to just get Premium.
SomewhereVirtual4121@reddit
I had 2 ads I couldn’t skip them 4 times all for the new stormzy film, I will not be watching
das6992@reddit
It's full of crypto/investment and scam ads as well. It's about time there were consequences for hosting stuff like that
jeanclaudebrowncloud@reddit
Do you not want to know the UK landlord's nasty little secret?
just_burn_it_all@reddit
Oh they know that. Thats why they are trying to make youtube so obnoxious and ad-riddled, that it ramps up the revenue from YouTube Premium.
Fast forward 5 years and that wont be enough either. So then you'll have to sit through 3.5 miunutes of ads, which replicates traditional ad breaks
whereohwhereohwhere@reddit
There’s a really short one for SMA baby formula which is literally a quote not attributed to anyone that goes ‘my baby loved it’. That’s all. It’s like ten seconds. Is this meant to be effective marketing? I’m not even in the market for baby formula which
woods60@reddit (OP)
Did the baby tell them that🤣🤣
Ramwolde@reddit
The AI narrated ads can't deal with my account being created in Germany but now being located in the UK, it's a cluster fuck
Shelby_Aurora@reddit
Fuck Grammarly!
jmrtn_yak@reddit
We should start being paid for watching them every 5 minutes
Lemonpieapplepie@reddit
Honestly not lot of people know about this but you can get YouTube premium through regional pricing for way cheaper. It’s 70% cheaper since you’re paying through a different country. That’s how I got my annual subscription from the subbreddit youtubepremiumdealz
No_Sugar8791@reddit
Just use Firefox and a blocker. I never see any adds.
Lemonpieapplepie@reddit
But the video doesn’t load often. How do I fix that?
Chennaz@reddit
It works fine for now but Google are cracking down on ad blockers more and more all the time, I think we'll eventually reach the point where they don't work and everyone will be in the same boat.
101Spacecase@reddit
That happens I'm use another browser Google will lost out.
20127010603170562316@reddit
I run a very adblocked computer, on a network and PC level.
I've noticed youtube videos are taking 10-30 seconds to start playing, inconvenient, but less so than annoying ads.
I think it's expecting to play an ad, but it doesn't, so they just waste the time instead of skipping to the content.
Medical_Band_1556@reddit
Yeah it's like they're punishing us, but we still didn't have to see the ad so fuck you YouTube
Heathcliff511@reddit
Like how the govt has been cracking down on piracy for, what, 35 years? You're not sure because they literally can do nothing but temporarily workaround or try and prevent people getting adblockers (which they cant control on non Chromium web browsers). To that extent, they'll never block people using these alternative browsers because they'd rather have some ad revenue rather than none.
Alphabet brings in more money annually than most nations nominal GDPs, if there was a legal way to do it by now they would have.
laredocronk@reddit
People have been saying that ever since the first adblockers were released, and yet here we are decades later.
SilverRapid@reddit
It'll just be a constant cat and mouse. At the moment YouTube sends a playlist of ads and the ad blockers simply delete the playlist. YouTube keeps hiding the ad playlist in various ways and the blockers keep figuring it out. Next YouTube is testing sending the ad video in the same stream as the video you are watching. The ad block solution is to buffer ahead the video and fast forward it so YouTube is trying to counter that and so on.
bluesam3@reddit
Going to be hard: Sponsor block can already block bits of the actual video.
143Emanate34Elaborat@reddit
For Chromium-based browsers.
Firefox isn't Chromium-based.
No_Sugar8791@reddit
Tbf that would be great. Maybe I'll do something productive instead.
Lassitude1001@reddit
This, uBlock specifically. Or Revanced for the app on mobile.
boofdaddy93@reddit
Massive revanced fanboy here. I see no adverts, i can lock my phone for music, and it cuts out all sponsors. Well worth an hour to research and download.
AdLost576@reddit
How and where? I’m a technology fucking idiot
Lassitude1001@reddit
r/Revancedapp and the wiki/guides on there is probably the easiest way.
OrangeGP@reddit
There's even a version of the Reddit app that removes the ads
Pink-socks@reddit
Sponsorblock is amazing
UnchartedPro@reddit
It doesn't even take an hr for most people but I agree, still well worth the hour or whatever time it takes
throwaway928816@reddit
I want a single browser that works on my PC and Android. IS chromium the answer? I tried Brave but it does too many privacy things that i dont understand that makes signing in annoying. I want as close to chrome an experience as possible.
UnchartedPro@reddit
Just try standard chrome and see how you get on
I am a Firefox guy normally but for chromecast chrome works easiest I think
throwaway928816@reddit
Standard chrome is the problem. Youtube ads are awful!
I don't use chromecast.
UnchartedPro@reddit
Ohh I see
So on pc
Open chrome
Choose the chromecast option but don't share the tab, share full screen
Then on pc can share the full screen as long as you leave chrome open
So then use Firefox or whatever for youtube
throwaway928816@reddit
I'm very confused why you guys keep talking about chromecast... I've tried librefox and I like it but it doesnt support the android platform. I want an app that supports both windows and android. I dont want to chromcast anything!!!
UnchartedPro@reddit
Sorry - I think I confused you with a different user and then misinterpreted what you said! My apologies m8
So you want a browser that works on android and Windows?
For windows I think for the average user like myself Firefox is very hard to beat. Decent settings and good extensions - the best being ublock
For android, if you want to watch something on a website that you know will have problematic ads, Firefox and ublock still works fine but I don't like using it as much
I'm a big Samsung Internet guy on android over using Google chrome but the ad blockers aren't as good as ublock
For ad free YouTube on mobile instead of going through the Web, YouTube revanced is an app worth getting in my opinion
Can also mess with the phones settings to open links by default in revanced so it becomes more seamless
Hopefully something here helps but if not let me know
No_Sugar8791@reddit
Firefox PC and android work great together. There shouldn't be a reason why you can't cast to tv easily.
throwaway928816@reddit
Where the hell are you guys getting chromecast from? I said Chromium (the browser). I dont use chromecast as I dont have anything to cast to (my tv is dumb).
Gamer_Tekk08@reddit
And TizenTube for Samsung TV!
StephenSpawnking@reddit
Do you know any apps that can stream to a chrome cast without ads?
looeee2@reddit
What are you streaming that has ads? I cast all kinds of things and have never had an ad. Sites that are as heavy like dailymotion don't show any over Chromecast
UnchartedPro@reddit
I only briefly tried chrome cast from my laptop using the chrome browser itself - but even though you can share a screen not on chrome that way (basically whatever is on your laptop) you couldn't then use your laptop at same time
But that doesn't have ads as far as I'm aware
Otherwise if you have a look on Google may find something useful - or perhaps apks that have premium unlocked - although not sure what you would do about running that version of an app on the laptop
Sorry - not really knowledgeable on chromecast!
Lassitude1001@reddit
Good extra, forgot SmartTube for the TV.
kevvostevenson@reddit
And it sponsorblocks on videos too!
Mccobsta@reddit
I switched to tubular ages ago and it's so light
Dd_8630@reddit
I use newpipe.
What's the advantage of revanced?
geeered@reddit
This, also.
Useful_Result_4550@reddit
I use Firefox with ad-blocker but I get a message that YouTube knows and it won't show me any more videos until I remove it. Do you know how to get round that?
No_Sugar8791@reddit
I haven't experienced that yet but have heard emptying your cashe may work. Failing that, try a different blocker (there are a few mentioned in this thread) or, ironically Google it. Maybe not on Google just in case.
Useful_Result_4550@reddit
I've got to try something 17 min video; 7.30 in and I've seen the same ad for AI trading 4 times 🤬
ApplicationCreepy987@reddit
Not an option on a smart tv
YungButDead@reddit
Well unfortunately i like to watch YouTube on the big screen (Apple TV) and this doesn’t cover that. I use that on my computer though.

Or if you have a VPN, set your location to Myanmar or Albania.
keremsted@reddit
“hey guys what’s up welcome back to my channel today we’re gonna talk about RAID SHADOW LEGENDS”
thewibbler@reddit
Or Brave browser. Incredible.
harshnoisebestnoise@reddit
Just use brave browser
SynthRogue@reddit
Yes but they've made the youtube website feed/main page lame. They restrict videos heavily and after scrolling just a little, you hit the end of the feed and have to manually refresh. And refreshing shows you the same few videos but in a different order.
The mobile app on the other hand, shows a far greater variety of videos in the feed and you can scroll for a long time before hitting the end, if you even do get to the end.
They are doing this on purpose to force people to use the mobile app because they know they can't do anything about ad blockers on web browsers.
Sad-Laugh-7511@reddit
Brave browser app for phones also blocks ads on YouTube
No_Sugar8791@reddit
As does FF app on phone. Then link PC with phone. You can watch 4 minutes on the phone then seamlessly switch to PC at the same point of the video. Complete game changer.
Betterthanthouu@reddit
This works on your phone too, download Firefox from the app store, install uBlock and watch videos on Firefox instead of the YouTube app.
No_Sugar8791@reddit
Agreed. Although I have AdBlocker Ultimate. Does the same job.
Imperfect_Dark@reddit
This is the real answer.

Not many people know this but you can get premium through a cheaper country that’s 70% cheaper.
Dull-Jicama7620@reddit
Its definitely becoming unbearable. unforunately not much you can do nowadays.
EugeneFrederik@reddit
For those who dont want to pay those crazy prices offered by youtube, just get it via r/youtubepremiumdealz. its way cheaper and its literally the same thing.
Lazy-Cardiologist602@reddit
Yup. And it’s progressively getting worse for non-premium users.
Not many people know this but you can get premium that’s 70% cheaper through a cheaper country. I got mine for a year through r/youtubepremiumdealz if you don’t want to pay YouTube’s ridiculous prices.
Sufficient_Emu_9777@reddit
Yup. It’s getting ridiculous at this point.
101Spacecase@reddit
Yes I came here to post just this. I've had to turn on Adblock. Sometimes I have to pause a show etc. Then when you start watching again you are hit with more Ad's.....When the video gets to the critical part or most watched part...More Ad's. Use to be you could watch the two 15 sec Ad's an then you was good for 20 min or so. That seems to have went out the window. So yeah I use to watch the Ad's to support the creator, but just not feasible now. I suggest we all run Adblock until they revert.
ArshzzZ@reddit
(Rant)
Spotify and youtube have been bullying me to buy their subscription my 3 ads in the start 2 ads in the middle for most of the vids i watch and spotify plays ads after every music i listen i am so f** angry about this
Can somebody tell me to get premium for free? Cuz i am not paying to further give them the satisfaction...thank you
Nearby-Lime-570@reddit
Absolutely cooked, I’m watching a 1 hour video and no joke every 10-12 minutes there is a 1 minute long ad. I’m pissed.
Plastic-Guide-9627@reddit
and youtube will still keep counting even if you have the video paused for a while and come back to it then it will decide to go straight into an ad when you unpause
Cool-Employee-109@reddit
Not the number, but we watched a video the other day and got a Nationwide advert 15 times....
knackeredz@reddit
On my tele I will start a video, see 30 seconds of ads come up, hit back then play again, and again, and again. Ads get shorter each time. Usually. After 3-4 goes it just gives up. I’ve also noticed which channels have more ads in the middle where you can’t do this and pretty much stopped watching those.
WoodyLaaadddddd03@reddit
Barely notice it. on iPhone I use AdGuard , just have to share the video and select AdGuard. On PC I’ve got an adblocker, and on the LGTV I’ve got a ad free version of YouTube (I followed some tutorial on Reddit on how to do it, works perfectly)
mulleintea5@reddit
Are you in the uk??? I keep getting adds about earning money from this app and depositing 200 and that the government have been hiding it from us
jimmy193@reddit
Just use brave browser and you get none
Prudent-Level-7006@reddit
Yeah it's atrocious, they're all pure trash too
FocusOk6215@reddit
I broke down and paid for premium.
ElectricToast@reddit
I crumbled and got YouTube Premium a couple of months ago, it's worth it in my opinion.
If you're paying for Spotify/Apple Music you can cancel that to cover the cost; you get YouTube Music included which is just as good.
darthmarmite@reddit
Gotta disagree here. YT premium is £16.99 a month. That’s over £200 a year just to not have lengthy ads shoved in my face for crappy mobile games, ai, Amazon and others. In my opinion, that’s a disproportionate amount of money.
I get that they include YT Music… great… but I don’t want that, I want to use Spotify. Can I get YT premium without Music? No. So if I want to watch videos without ads, I have to also buy a subscription for an unrelated, separate service that I don’t want or need?
They also have tried to add further features like background play and picture-in-picture to premium but every other video/streaming app I know of has these as standard features. So they’ve locked easily implemented convenience features behind the paywall, making the user experience worse, to further try and justify the cost.
A lot of people saying that they got it and now won’t go back because it’s worth it. Personally, I think the thing here isn’t that premium is “worth it” but rather that they made the free user experience so poor that many people don’t want to go back to it.
If they brought out a YT Core subscription that just gave you no ads and background play for £6-£8 a month, I’d go for it immediately. But over £200 a year, just for you to not throw repeated ads in my face? Nope.
Frost_Sea@reddit
but youtube, does have high quality content, documentaries, there even entire series anjd movies uploaded there now, you can use it for tutorials, language learning, education.
Its far more valuable than netflix or disney or appletv from the sheer amount of content on it.
Complex-You-4383@reddit
I pay £4 a month for YouTube premium, the trick is to get a family account between you and four friends and it’s £20 a month, you can have your account on I think 5 devices, so it’s a win win.
Been doing this for three years now.
£48 a year, completely worth it, especially when it has statistics that tell you how many hours you’ve saved avoiding ads, it’s well over 2000.
darthmarmite@reddit
Yeah, looking at doing this, trying to convince some friends to split it.
meinnit99900@reddit
Yeah I’m actually genuinely a bit surprised by the amount of people willing to pay for YouTube the idea of paying 13 quid a month to not have to watch adverts is insane to me
FranzFerdinand51@reddit
Do you think you are entitled to a service like youtube which is massive, much better content that traditional tv and is expensive af to run, for free even without ads?
meinnit99900@reddit
yes I do because I already pay for the internet, I’m not paying to use websites too especially when YouTube was started as a place to watch content for free
Substantial_Pilot699@reddit
Hey bro, I already pay for the internet, so can you come over and make me a sandwich?
FranzFerdinand51@reddit
I think that is a ridiculously entitled argument but you do you!
What a company started as shouldn't even have any bearing on what they want to do today. Many companies choose to run at a loss until they can build something that is adopted by enough people. Just ridiculous that you think it should be free AND have no ads. Should we just stop paying everyone who works on YT too?
BainfulPutthole@reddit
I don’t think there’s any argument someone can put forward that will make me feel a pittance of sympathy for Google missing out on some ad revenue.
FranzFerdinand51@reddit
Weird way to look at it. A lot of multinational companies are absolutely swimming in money. Should my BigMac be free? Should my Starbucks be free?
BainfulPutthole@reddit
Yes, and if I could download a Big Mac for free I’d do that too.
FranzFerdinand51@reddit
I'd love to see you try and run a business lol. Grow up.
Substantial_Pilot699@reddit
I agree with you man, that guys nuts.
nailedtooth@reddit
For the first 12-15 years of using YouTube the ads were reasonable. I had no motivation to block them
I guess I don't understand what suddenly changed in the last few years to make the 60 second unskippable ads interrupting videos, or a £13 a month per user subscription necessary. They don't make any of the content themselves at the end of the day, they're just a file hosting service who were already raking in obscene amounts of money.
Imo they're exploiting the fact that after dominating the market for so long, both creators and viewers don't have other options, nobody can compete with them so they'll just keep squeezing
darthmarmite@reddit
Not the commentor you were replying to but it was my comment further up ranting about YT Premium price.
My issue isn’t paying for YT. Fully understand the platform is funded by ads and removing those means covering that income gap by subscriptions.
My issue is simply that it’s bundled with YT Music which will be putting up the cost when I don’t want or need YT Music. I just want a lower price point just for ad-free YT and background play/PIP.
FranzFerdinand51@reddit
100% agreed with you there, my problem is with people that don't want to pay anything but still cry about too many ads.
Broccoli--Enthusiast@reddit
Its £12.99, £155 a year
Cheaper than the TV licence and far more entertaining than any shite on the BBC
spartan0746@reddit
YouTube Premium Lite is now in the UK, just means they show ads for music which isn’t an issue for me. But much cheaper otherwise.
Broccoli--Enthusiast@reddit
Ooh last I checked it wasn't in UK yet
I might actually go back to Spotify for a bit and see what the difference is.
darthmarmite@reddit
Agree on the entertaining bit. Another commenter mentioned that the £16.99 I’ve been quoted is higher as it’s via the YT app which increases the cost to cover Apple’s cut.
Agree on more entertaining than a lot of stuff on the BBC. My issue is that it’s bundled with things like YT Music. So whatever the price, I’m being forced to pay for a separate subscription I don’t need too.
Remove that, don’t force me to pay for a music streaming subscription and just give me a lower price point for just YouTube without ads and background play/pip.
benDB9@reddit
It’s £12.99 a month if you subscribe via YouTube directly. Apple slap on an extra £4 if you download it via their App Store.
spartan0746@reddit
YouTube Premium Lite is now in the UK, just means they show ads for music which isn’t an issue for me. But much cheaper otherwise.
SpudFire@reddit
Costs about £3 a month if you 'move' to Kazakhstan.
darthmarmite@reddit
Didn’t know that, thanks for correcting, that does bring it down a bit then which is good.
The thing is that it still includes YT Music etc. which I simply don’t want.
I don’t want to be watching it without ads for free, but I do want a lower price point just for YouTube ads & background play/PIP without other things bundled in.
acarine-@reddit
You can also just use a vpn to subscribe and get it far cheaper
Andy_Roid@reddit
Get the family plan and go halves with someone else
MexicanPenguinii@reddit
On Android, revanced gets you all that shit for free
Both videos and music
I actually use the mini player and background a lot surprisingly, if I couldn't get this I would maybe be paying
darthmarmite@reddit
Yeah, I just want to have a cheaper subscription tier that doesn’t include music and just gives you no ads and background/PIP player.
Substantial_Pilot699@reddit
But you only seem to weigh this up by your experience alone.
Fundamentally, YT needs to make financial sense, it needs to make considerable recenue, the infrastructure costs for YouTube are immense. So, it must either ram adverts down your face on a free model, to make the advertisers pay a lot, or take a reasonable sum of money and have a good overall premium experience. Hell yes i'm paying the price of a takeaway to not have the bother and irritation of ads. Maybe there could be a middle sub basis model with reduced ads or something. It's either loads of ads for free or no ads, and they require your money. It seems a fair choice to me. It's priced similar to one trip to McDonalds or something.
darthmarmite@reddit
My issue isn’t with the value as such, it’s that whatever the value is has been inflated by bundling it with an unrelated subscription music service I don’t need.
I’d happily pay for no ads, I don’t want to have to pay for both a music subscription and no ads just to get no ads.
Scary-Zucchini-1750@reddit
I got a VPN recently for various reasons and I saw somewhere that Albania doesn't allow YouTube ads for some reason. So if you set it to Albania, you get no ads 😀
VPN is only about £2.50 per month or something and it's useful for other stuff as well.
Diamond-Waterfall@reddit
Please delete this comment before YouTube people see it and put a stop to it 😅
woods60@reddit (OP)
“Other stuff” jk
Scary-Zucchini-1750@reddit
😂 I'm not sure what it sounded like I meant, but it's good for privacy when using unsecured public networks and I use it a lot to access films/TV on streaming sites in other countries.
volt65bolt@reddit
Don't go signing into banking or anything important on public networks even with a VPN btw
ThinIntention1@reddit
Which VPN?
Ok_Teacher6490@reddit
I'm going to have to try this, thanks!
Mr_Dude_666@reddit
I pay neither and will not cave in and pay for YouTube Premium either. They created and enhanced the problem and essentially sold us the friking antidote. They DO NOT deserve our money!
TheInterneAteMyBalls@reddit
YouTube and Spotify are the only two that survived a fairly hard spending cut for me.
HopefulLandscape7460@reddit
Youtube music is not nearly as good as Spotify though.
The_Deadly_Tikka@reddit
It's actually significantly better than Spotify. Better audio quality and even deeper library.
OuterHeadDebris@reddit
YouTube has everything though. A lot of music isn't on Spotify.
Andy_Roid@reddit
Especially with more artists pulling out now Spotify is investing in the defence industry
mcfish@reddit
Very much depends on your music tastes. For me, youtube music has a lot of the obscure stuff I want to hear, Spotify does not.
dbxp@reddit
The problem is that only removes the pre roll and mid roll ads. You still get all the recommendations which is just another word for advert. Google can't give up he golden goose of advertising, they're addicted to it
purplerainbowsrule@reddit
I switched a few months ago from Apple Music and I've found the algorithm is absolutely awful. They play songs I've never heard, unrelated genres and the quick picks are great but Youtube Music sucks for me. Which is a shame, because it has potential.
shysaver@reddit
I pay for premium too.
I have a feeling it won't be long before they crank up the price a lot and the current tier will be the one with "some ads"
Enshittification came for the free tier and has been gradually getting worse - we're next.
Substantial_Pilot699@reddit
I don't feel that's the strategy. They seem to be increasing the amount and duration of ads to push people onto premium.
Substantial_Pilot699@reddit
Exactly what I've done. Cancelled Spotify and moved to YouTube.
It's a life saver with the children's content.
AngryGardenGnomes@reddit
Just get a VPN lol. Why would you pay out for that ridiculously expensive service?? Not worth it in the slightest.
ehsteve23@reddit
A VPN doesn’t eliminate ads though? It can allow you to get cheaper premium but they’re cracking down on that too
AngryGardenGnomes@reddit
Yup no ads when you know which country to set it to.
ehsteve23@reddit
Would you like to share with the rest of the class?
AngryGardenGnomes@reddit
Albania.
HippySkywalker@reddit
I watch nearly all my YouTube videos on the Tv at home and I got a free month trial and it had never really occurred to me how many ads I’d been watching until they stopped! I decided to carry on with paying for it and I honestly don’t regret it.
Is it a tad on the expensive side? Absolutely. Is it worth it, absolutely.
AngryGardenGnomes@reddit
I got a VPN and set it to Albania. Way cheaper.
mongolian_monke@reddit
hell naw. just get an adblocker, the Revanced APK if you have an Android, or SmartTube if you have a TV that supports apps.
Revanced also has extra features like completely removing shorts from your feed, and the button, skipping sponsors, filler, etc, and you can set the default quality to 1080p+ without having to do it manually everytime.
childishjambin0@reddit
RIP
AVillainTale@reddit
This is one of the only subscription services I have. As someone who regularly watches stream VoDs, listens to music and also has long ambient videos playing on YT and also on my Smart TV, the Ads were actually infuriating. I tried the free trial back in November last year and my stress levels immediately decreased. Absolutely worth it.
RositaZetaJones@reddit
I’m getting really tempted to do this as the adverts are so horrendous.
burnaaccount3000@reddit
Dont give in we vote with our wallets its exactly what they want then they will hike the price up and ad adds just likebthey have with prime videos and im sure netflix will do the same its all a fucking con.
flowering_sun_star@reddit
Yeah, I caved too. It feels a bit bad that their slow enshittification worked.
But ultimately the people making the several hours of entertainment a day I watch do deserve to get paid for it.
No_Doughnut3257@reddit
I also finally gave in just last week. Shit was getting ridiculous.
woods60@reddit (OP)
Im waiting to make a family. That family deal is way cheaper
BizteckIRL@reddit
Naa using Brave web browser...... What ads?
woods60@reddit (OP)
Didn’t expect this post to get traction. But the one advert that annoys me most is the new Revolut one. It’s a guy in a restaurant saying “Imma anew chihuahua” or smth it doesn’t even make sense
Jasedesu@reddit
You remember the ad and the brand, so it's doing it's job. They're even getting free secondary advertising from you here... ;op
Upset-Elderberry3723@reddit
Temu ad that's still playing Jingle Bells takes the crown here, surely?
RubHelpful7940@reddit
Fricking insane… it’s becoming unwatchable now.
wintermute306@reddit
As the whole of internet desperately tries to hold on to the COVID attention boom and the loss from other platforms like tiktok, they are pounding search, YouTube, Instagram etc. The level of advertising is now too dense.
mavgurray@reddit
It’s obscene at the moment !
legomaster33330@reddit
Yes I'm pissed
JohnnyBeat6969@reddit
I went Premium when in hospital this year and was using Adblock at home. Premium is actually really good and I kept it rolling, no adverts of course and plenty of other features that I didn't think I'd use.
qwogadiletweeth@reddit
Maybe people should boycott products from any company who chooses to advertise on YouTube. Then there would be less adverts. Maybe YouTube would then change its force feeding approach
Seicedelig@reddit
If you have a VPN, set your location to a low income country, and Youtube is way less likely to show you adverts.
I'm set to Mozambique and never see ads.
Stage_Party@reddit
Adverts are on everything again, just like back in the 80s. Netflix x, amazon, Disney, the lot.
I've gone back to pirating, just like in the 00's.
EmotionalAirport419@reddit
Download Brave and forget about all ads. I dint get people who still use the YouTube app. What are y'all some masochists? There's so many ad blocking browsers out there.
Oli99uk@reddit
It's really awful - a lot of creators are not aware. Some I follow were made aware by comments and have turned off the auto-ads and manually set the frequency.
eco78@reddit
Yup. 12 minute vid, 3 ad breaks. It's becoming unwatchable without premium, and even then you get the youtubers advertising in vid. There's no escape.
Public-Guidance-9560@reddit
Its the one "streaming service" I actually don't mind paying for....I feel dirty doing it, but holy muck! if I watch YT on a machine I am not logged into I lose the will to live before the video starts!
AirResistence@reddit
Its horrendous which is why on my PC I use an adblocker and on my phone I use either revanced or newpipe. And when 1 dont work or all dont work I just dont go on youtube until one of them works again because they will be updated fairly quickly.
Bebibobi@reddit
That’s why I caved in and use premium 😭 I hate it
defnoytoned@reddit
Use brave
PitBullCH@reddit
I try to avoid YouTube so have not watched anything there in a long while - but tried to watch a recording recently of a Geddy Lee book tour event with Lex Lifeson and gave up half way because I was getting the same 1-2 ads every 5-6 minites or so - totally ruined the viewing.
sheff_guy@reddit
It's gotten to the point where sometimes I'll just stop watching the video

Of all of the paid subscriptions I've ever had, YouTube premium has been the best one by far and is the one I'd keep if I have to tighten my belt. If you can afford it, it's worth the money.

madonkey@reddit
> "Not like the content has gotten better in the past few years too."
What does this even mean? It's not Netflix, there's essentially infinite content.
Electricbell20@reddit
Suspect it's the recommendation getting worse. Something I've noticed in the past couple of months. It's as if the algorithm is stuck and needs a mavericks function to stir things up a bit.
Infinite content but it can be hidden well. I go through my subscribe list every so often and it's odd how much didn't appear in my feed.
belody@reddit
Yeah I will literally just get the same 5 videos I don't watch to watch suggested back to back to back and nothing else
TheNewHobbes@reddit
Same here, my feed seems to be 30% stuff I've watched before, 50% stuff which has been cropping up for months, if I haven't watched it by now I never will and 20% new stuff, only some of which looks interesting.
JudasBC@reddit
Recently it has been dredging up a load of old content I know I have already watched, but burying anything new outside of about 6 creators I'm subscribed to. I'm as likely to see a video with 18 views on some random subject as I am something new from a subscribed channel outside my top ones.
brockford-junktion@reddit
It sucks being on the other side of it too. I have a normal people job and have no interest in trying to make money off it but it'd be nice to have the stuff I do put on get shown to people.
just_burn_it_all@reddit
Sadly ad optimisation is Googles bread and butter. If they can get another round of revenue by showing you content you already watched, theyll do that rather than show you new stuff from a small content creator you subscribed to
It's just brutal for niche channels, especially those who are never going to get heaps of subscribers.
Imaginary-Friend-228@reddit
Yeah my feed tries to hard to decide that I only want to watch one topic. I watched one thing about Pokemon and now it won't recommend anything else
TeHNeutral@reddit
Yeah it does seem to have an immense case of tunnel vision these days
Fina1Legacy@reddit
Can't go wrong with a Wolfey wideo
---x__x---@reddit
I have LOADS of gripes about youtube but it's actually the one site where the algorithm seems consistently good for me.
It seems to recommend things I want to watch based on if I'm using my computer / phone / TV and taking into account what time of day it is.
My latest gripe is that the app just sucks for using it to shuffle your music playlists. It's never been great at that but recently it seems to get stuck after 1-2 songs for me.
bluesam3@reddit
It confuses me why anybody trusts random computers to tell them what they'll like, instead of just subscribing to creators they like and just watching their videos.
JavaRuby2000@reddit
There is but, I've started to see a lot of dead internet theory stuff from Youtube.
I watch a lot of video game development and a lot of car content and it's like they all copy each other.
A game dev channel will post a "I'm making a game using my own Engine" and suddenly a whole bunch of the other channels do the same thing.
In the car space it's even more sus. It's like all the car channels decide to focus on the same car at once. A couple of years ago all of them decided to restore MX5s. Last year they all decided to switch to transaxle Porsches like the 924 and 944.
k987654321@reddit
YouTube premium is by far the best value subscription I pay. As you say - absolutely endless
Questjon@reddit
£150 a year for distributing content they didn't create seems like too much to me. I get that they provide a service and deserve to get paid but I think they're artificially making premium more attractive by making the ads as shitty and disruptive as possible rather than helping content creators make it a better platform worthy of paying for.
SentientWickerBasket@reddit
Servers compressing and distributing 4K video on the scale of YouTube are expensive to run. The electricity use alone of watching 4K video for an hour is the equivalent of driving a mile or two in an EV.
m205@reddit
Who/what exactly needs 4K on YouTube?
kiloton-scot@reddit
No one, but no one needs YouTube either
Questjon@reddit
Maybe running a whole server yeah but that's split between 10,000 concurrent users. YouTube had $50Billion in revenue from ads and subs last year, they don't reveal their operating costs so it's hard to work out profit but Netflix put their distribution costs at $0.12-$0.75 per user per month.
SentientWickerBasket@reddit
It's not, that's an estimate per user. The actual figure is under a lot of debate, but knowing how much time and power it takes my computer to transcode, resize, and compress large format video, I can believe that it's in the right ballpark.
mcfish@reddit
But (a) some of the subscription goes to the content creators and (b) ad blockers reduce the income those creators receive.
I used ad blockers with youtube for many years but eventually decided that I spend so much time on youtube that premium was worth it. Also you get YouTube music which I use in my car all the time, and it works pretty well.
I get your point though. They've been cranking up the annoyance factor for years and it's not as useful for many people as it is for me. But if you use it a lot, premium is pretty good.
Sunodasuto@reddit
They are making it more and more relentless specifically to push Youtube Premium. Feels like a third of the ads I see are just for the YT premium.
meinnit99900@reddit
idk man I just don’t think you should have to pay to watch YouTube
Muscle_Bitch@reddit
It's never been free, and it really shouldn't be. It costs Google somewhere in the region of $5bn per year to run it.
You either pay by being sold to in the form of ads or you pay directly to watch the content.
Both go to the upkeep of the service and the remuneration of the creators.
Muscle_Bitch@reddit
Same.
It was sore going from the £2.50 a month Turkish subscription to the £20 a month family sub but it's still worth it.
Apfel@reddit
Seconding this. I absolutely love my premium sub and it feels free as YouTube music works as a perfect Spotify replacement.
woods60@reddit (OP)
The search barely even work. In 2016 I could search for a specific internet reference and it would show. Now it’s so algorithm-based that it makes you reliant on recommendations rather than search.

Google is an advertising company. A search to them isn't a search it's a prompt for ads, for which it takes in your search prompt and user context. Recommendation is really just another word for advert
red_nick@reddit
Ads I would understand. Not a bunch of different videos for no apparent reason
dbxp@reddit
The recommendations are ads, just of a different sort. You can pay to promote your channel same as you would a product: https://business.google.com/in/ad-solutions/youtube-ads/creator-promotions/

corf3l@reddit
The content is getting worse because people are relying on AI to generate brainrot content solely for the purpose of likes/views.
Content of substance is diminishing
Same logic applies to quality of goods sold no platforms like Amazon, Ebay and Etsy.
When people work out how to make money with little effort, the platform quality dilutes.
SentientWickerBasket@reddit
It has, though. Think about just how much the production value of the average headline YouTube show has changed over the last decade or so.
Compare something like Epic Meal Time, filmed in someone's house on a DV camera, and Sorted Food, which is a full-on TV style production supporting two dozen employees, a dedicated studio with multiple kitchen sets, and multiple live shows a year, all in fully-edited 4K. YouTube isn't students dicking about with a camera anymore, it's an entire industry.

Well they're increasing the unskippable ads, so you'll buy the premium service. I'd buy it myself, but a 30 second ad is not worth 20 quid a month
halen2024@reddit
So irritating that I’ve stopped using YouTube
shaffy7423@reddit
Use Brave browser. If you were like me and used Chrome for longer than I should, then switching to Brave is easy since it is chromium based, but is clearly superior and made my life a lot easier with the features it has. Both the windows/mac desktop apps are highly recommendable, as is the android phone app. They all block cookies automatically, so no more annoying "accept cookies" pop ups. It also blocks ads on all sites including YouTube. The phone app works well with the YouTube website and also continues playing the videos in the background after locking/closing, if that's useful to you
zombiepiratebacon@reddit

I've got an adblocker on PC, and the pages have started loading suspiciously slow. I suspect it's linked.
Same goes for firefox on mobile, it takes a while to load in.
The thing that pisses me off is that the ads are long enough to break the focus of the video, but not so long that you can go and make a drink like TV ads.
The silver lining of all this is that it's making me waste less time watching Youtube.
Boldboy72@reddit
gave up in 2022. Cancelled all my Netflix type subscriptions and just went YouTube premium, don't regret it for a second.
I spent more time on Disney+, Netflix and Apple just trying to find something worth watching. They also shifted the goalposts "you currently pay £9.99 for Netflix ad free, you can keep that but you will now be getting ads.. here is a new version of the same thing you always had but for £5 a month more".. so fuck em. Cancelled.
Besides, all the movies I want to see are on YT anyway, just now they're ad free.
DiverseUniverse24@reddit
Love me some adblock. Will never go back.
Familiar_Ad6302@reddit
Use brave browser
highrouleur@reddit
I'm not that into youtube, but I like watching music gigs on there. They'll constantly cut mid song for some shitty advert with each ad having an increasing amount of time before you can skip. It's not becoming unwatchable, it is unwatchable
Snoo_23014@reddit
Mate I downloaded and paid for Disney plus to escape adverts on youtube and guess what?? Ads on a PAID subscription thing! The youtube ads are all for mobile games too so it just goes "pew pew pew pew" while an AI voice declares "NO ADs! No ads!".
The irony
Whisky_Delta@reddit
Standard tech company arc these days.
1) make good product people like 2) add ads people hate 3) make premium subscription version with no ads 4) add more ads to free version to drive people to premium version 5) pikachu face when people pivot platforms
Confuseduseroo@reddit
This is one of the reasons why the internet as we know it cannot last. And I for one won't shed a tear at its funeral.
bookfrombox@reddit
It's called enshititification.
It's only going to get a lot worse.
Whisky_Delta@reddit
Oh absolutely. “Your car has ABS but its subscription based. “
DanielReddit26@reddit
I believe this is already a thing with some cars (not ABS) where the hardware for something (heated seats I think...) is installed to the car but if you don't pay the extra they don't turn the software on to make it work.
HauntingDay31@reddit
Yep, I was hoping this would get brought up. BMW were making cars that came with heated seats built in, but you have to pay a subscription fee to activate them.
Pure money grabbing tactic right there.
DanielReddit26@reddit
It does sound a bit mental from the outside! I guess it's more efficient for them to build them as standard as opposed to based off order or whatever but yeah it all sounds fairly crass.
Electronic_Tap_6260@reddit
yup - GPUs and CPUs are the same. Whatever the "high end" chip of a series is, the entire series is that, but they just disable half the shit because it's cheaper to have one fabrication plant making one thing, than 10 different things.
also because CPUs and GPUs are ripoffs for what they are.
audigex@reddit
This is just straight up false
There is a grain of truth to it, but not even close to the way you describe
The reality is that they'll make eg an 8 core CPU and a percentage of them will have a failure or shortcoming in the manufacturing process, so they'll disable a core or two, or lower the frequency, or some of the RAM, and sell it as a lower SKU
But that's not even close to the same as the idea that their entire range is just one product with some things disabled in the firmware
Electronic_Tap_6260@reddit
pick one.
audigex@reddit
They are not mutually exclusive statements
What you said is not true
There is something else that happens which is slightly similar in concept but implemented completely differently
“A grain of truth” refers to the slightly similarity in concept, but doesn’t make the rest of your claim correct just because it’s tangentially related to reality
HauntingDay31@reddit
Thing is, I'm not sure it worked out that way for them, they discontinued the practice.
It's just the initial slap in the face, to know your car already has the hardware, but you can't use it without paying more than you already have.
Why would I pay more for something that's realistically, completely unnecessary? Air-conditioning solves the problem on its own, and there's no sub for that.
Tractorface123@reddit
In 10-20 years when these cars are cheaper 2nd hand woukd it be difficult to just wire in a switch to power them directly? Like how when a modern cars been in a crash and you need to power the seat motor to move it back
HauntingDay31@reddit
That's a cheeky idea and I like it 🤣 I'm no expert, but I'd imagine if you could locate the cable connecting them, you could probably find a way to bypass the system.
But given this is a German car maker, I can imagine they implemented something to prevent this.
Tractorface123@reddit
More than likely is a way to prevent it but at the end of the day the basic components will still be there just got to go directly into those instead of through anything software controlled, BMW probably aren’t expecting the first owners to do this though, I’m thinking of the used market, though if this idea becomes mainstream other manufacturers might try to prevent it as well.
Muscle_Bitch@reddit
This was an experiment they ran were they allowed people to either spec heated seats as a factory option (£350) or subscribe for £15 a month to allow flexibility to only use it in the colder months.
There was an immense backlash, they dropped it immediately.
Their only subscriptions now are for software features that require constant connection, which obviously comes at an ongoing cost to them to maintain.
TopSetLowlife@reddit
No joke, new VW's you have to pay a monthly subscription for Aircon, inner lighting and seat warmers if my mate isn't bullshitting me.
Muscle_Bitch@reddit
Your mate is bullshitting you.
My brand new Tiguan comes with heated, ventilated and massage seats, air con and interior lighting, and I don't pay any subscription to VW.
There is a subscription for some app that allows the interior lighting to react to your music or display "interactive alerts" when your phone is ringing or you put on your hazards.
It's £1.69 a month, you'd need to be a total mug to pay for it.
TopSetLowlife@reddit
Well that gives me hope
audigex@reddit
Aircon, no.
A few other things (including heated seats, I'm not sure about interior lighting) are available on their "VW Connect" subscriptions, but you can also just buy them up front when you buy the car like you've always been able to
I don't have a problem with it when it's an option rather than the only way to get those features
bookfrombox@reddit
Didn't VW come out with that. Basically it was cheaper for them to basically make all cars have all the bells and whistles, instead of making different trims.
So all cars have the top trim, but unless you paid the systems weren't activated. So like you have a reversing camera installed, but if you didn't pay for it then it just wouldn't be turned on.

Genuinely, how much money should Google lose on YouTube hosting billions of hours of video and paying millions of people to create content for the website?

Electronic_Tap_6260@reddit
It's for people who have their stuff on auto play - the company pays Google a small amount to do this - 99.99% of people will realise it's an ad and skip but the ones that dont (just on dumb autoplay with their mouth open as they breathe) end up watching it all and get invested in whatever the fuck it's on about - and then spend money.
Basically it's targeted at the people who are so stupid they will watch a 1 hour ad without realising.

The default experience has an insane level of enshittification and is near unusable. I appreciate the need for ads and revenue but too much has changed. The removal of the like button, rampant copyright fraud, promotion of videos that get views no matter if the content is dangerous or misleading.
I ran a YouTube channel for 15 years and it's a vastly different platform to the way it used to be.
It was nothing huge, a few thousand subs and lots of views but I've removed my support for the platform by setting the videos to private and abandoning it.

Still lots and lots of very shitty fake AI ads for stuff that doesn't even exist.
Nok1a_@reddit
They are trying their best, like if you have ublock origin the videos takes a little longer than before to load, it will reach a point where is not going to be possible to watch anything without ads, then that will start the downfall of youtube.

If you've got the funds, just get Premium. Plus, if you are forking out for Spotify you can just use YouTube Music and save some dosh (albeit, not as good).

madcow87_@reddit
They seem to vary depending on device I'm using. Mobile and desktop I can just about stomach because it's not often they're much more than 5 seconds or skippable.
Amazon though....I use the firestick sometimes and its just the worst. 20-30-60 second ads that you can "fast forward" after 30 seconds then wait again and THEN skip the last 5 seconds. It's absolutely atrocious. Truth be told I want to ditch the firestick but I can't seem to get Google TV to work in my house and I'm not getting Sky back as long as I live.

Yep, it's getting worse and worse as time goes on
I keep getting "longer ads so you can watch the video with fewer ad breaks" and it gives me a minute long ad... Usually 5 minutes later it does exactly the same.
I refuse to pay for premium even though it would be good value for me.. purely because of how hard they're trying to push it by punishing those who don't have it.
AppealConfident1303@reddit
My dream would be a mass mobilization against ads, basically, the mass somehow agree to stop buying advertised products in a way that the companis would be able to see this effect. I know is impossible (targeted ads, bla bla), but let me dream ok! Would be so cool tho
SodaCanSuperman@reddit
I watched a video on my phone the other day while I was at work. I genuinely feel like there were about 10 ad breaks in one 40 minute video, each with two unskippable 30 second+ adverts. Was driving me insane, way too much and is ruining the experience. Thank god for ad blocker on my pc.
woods60@reddit (OP)
I underestimate how much of this sub uses PC for YouTube. All the comments mention adblockers and techy things etc personally I thought the average YouTube user is on mobile
SodaCanSuperman@reddit
To be honest I watch on my phone more but that's because I have it playing in the background while doing other things at work, doing chores at home etc. I also watch YouTube on my phone when relaxing on the couch or before bed sometimes. PC is my preferred platform but that's only when I'm actively watching something on YouTube sat at my PC or when again it's playing while I'm doing hobby stuff in my home office room.
Adblockers are the way but not possible if you're using the official app.

Yep, the whole internet is a shit show these days, such a disappointment from when I was younger 20 years ago, it was this amazing thing where passionate people made websites because they loved it.

fluffy_samoyed@reddit
I have Premium, but the amount that they still try to sneak in is frustrating. For instance, a lot of the videos in my home feed will have adverts for products under them in the mobile ap with no option to hide them. They will often try to disguise an ad as a YouTube feature as well, which sits pretty at the top of the page. They removed the advance buttons on mobile to make it more difficult to skip over the baked in sponsor ads. They claimed to have made a feature that will bookmark the end of these for you to jump to instead, but months later, I've yet to see it actually implemented in any video I watch. And it's not as if I'm watching obscure, niche content.

I’ve had premium for a decade, I used a vpn when I set it up and paid £1.50 a month for a family plan right up until last month. I use it that much have renewed at full price. It’s worth it for ad free on the TV’s and not having to mess around with different apps etc.
periel99@reddit
Out of interest, why didn't you just continue using the VPN to get it less than full price?
fannyabdabs@reddit
They started to get worse to it and require the payment method being based in that country. Used to be okay with revolut and virtual cards as it would circumvent it.
Still possible but much more challenging. I managed to get a year of MyFitnessPal for around £4 for the year for example
itsapotatosalad@reddit
I didn’t even need to do that, was using my uk based hsbc account all along. I changed countries a few times when they cancelled it, I got around it a few times but this last time was part of a publicised crackdown so I knew I was on borrowed time 😂
itsapotatosalad@reddit
I literally only used the vpnto change my country to get their prices when I subscribed, it recurred at the same price ever since no matter where we’ve all been based while using it. What YouTube have asked for now is a bank account based in the same country you’ve set your account to. Pretty sure it was bank account, whatever it was was to prove I lived in that country which I don’t so I couldn’t prove it.

It used to be that you would be able to skip after 5 seconds, then it started that you'd get the occasional 30-second ad at the start of the video with a couple of 5-second ones partway through, now it's 50 seconds of ads at the start and then 50-90 seconds of unskippable ads at multiple different intervals throughout and then more at the end. A 5 minute video easily turns into 10 minutes.
TeetheMoose@reddit
That why I use IgeBlock and a seperate add blocker.
sossigsandwich@reddit
I’ve started laying for premium, worth it if you watch a lot of YouTube.
Fel_Eclipse@reddit
Listening to a bed time story to help settle to sleep. Just as you get a micro sleep and feel yourself go it swaps to a 90 minute long documentary advert about Bollywood music and you're wide awake as you claw for the remote to skip.
RealBr4nd0n@reddit
Honestly it's annoying asf, especially when the ads last a minute or longer and you can't skip them!
Fel_Eclipse@reddit
On some videos you get adverts every 2 minutes which ruins the content so have stopped watching them, which sucks for the content creator.
The_Anime_Sweat@reddit
It came to something now where I actively and subconscious don't use the company advertised like tui I'm never flying with them if possible, and now some thing I hear in conversations I subconscious attach them to the ads (company name) and I get a sense of disgust totally subconsciously
trevpr1@reddit
I block the ads. On my PC I run uBlock origin in Firefox and on my phone I use Duck Player, which comes along with the Duck Duck Go browser.
On those occasions when I feel like watchingYou Tube on my big telly I hook up one of my PCs via a HDMI cable.
DangerousCap2473@reddit
If you are viewing YouTube
in browser, use uBlock Origin, AdGuard AdBlock, AdBlock, and AdBlock Plus.
in an Android phone, install YouTube through Revanced Manager.
in iPhone, install some adblockers AdGuard AdBlock and AdBlock Plus, both for Safari, from the App Store and view YouTube from the Safari browser instead of the official YouTube app.
FlamingBearAttack@reddit
Yeah, I thought this earlier too. Noticed that I was getting served adverts every few minutes on a documentary I was watching. Also, the most common advert was the Lucozade one with the annoying "lemme see you rock off" song.
HerpaDerpaDumDum@reddit
MFW I, a Firefox/uBlock Origin user, see the non-adblocking peasants complain about ads.
Matharis@reddit
Only ever see ads that the podcaster\documentarian is shilling, even then it sometimes gets skipped.
Firefox browser, with ublock origin, no script extensions for pc and RVX (forked branch of the revanced app) for mobile.
Haven't seen a YouTube ad in over a decade.
theworldsaplayground@reddit
Haaa, people get ads. Lol
IhaveaDoberman@reddit
No.
If anything I'd say ads are less annoying than they were a year or two ago, or however long it was they first introduced the unskipable ones and then the double unskipable ones.
Pretty much all ads I get I can skip in a few seconds. And the frequency doesn't seem like it's at it's worst point either. Granted, just getting used to it as I refuse to get premium, could play a factor.
But also, don't forget, how the channels choose to monetise still plays a part. So if that isn't your experience, that you're actually getting a lot of them and they are very disruptive. It may be who you choose to watch is just trying to milk the videos for cash, rather than actually producimg good content.
BigBadAl@reddit
Can you suggest a way YouTube can pay for their massive amount of servers and bandwidth, and pay their contributors, and still provide free videos for billions of people?
You could subscribe to YouTube premium.

YouTube's monetisation program is shit. For example, 1 million views gets you about £1,000 on average. 1 million views.
It's 10x better to support creators through a membership or patreon.

Install the SmartTube app on your TV. Trust me it's the best decision you'll ever make.

jman135790@reddit
If you have an hdmi port on the tv just get an android - based smart TV device that you can plug in. You can then download SmartTube on it and forever have no ads or sponsor reads if you turn that on as well.
SnoopyLupus@reddit
Exactly. It needs a bunch of other shit plugged in.
jman135790@reddit
It’s 1 device that costs roughly £30 and is probably much more useable than an older smart tv. You can also use it to watch other shows etc without subscription so you can easily get your money back on it. Its not something I’d really question getting personally but you do you.
SnoopyLupus@reddit
Been there done that. Ads are easier. They don’t randomly time out, and dump what you’re watching, lose connection etc etc. I just need a way to say “dont do this ad again”.

griffaliff@reddit
Ad blocker on PC and Brave on my device, easy. I've yet to work out how to step around the baked in ads though, I fucking hate how monetised the Internet has become. Spirit_Theory@reddit
Youtube is basically unusable without a good adblock. If I'm on my phone and an app opens a youtube video in the native youtube app, I'm guaranteed wasting 10-20 seconds on this tedious crap. What's equally annoying is how youtube are continuously making their website shittier if they detect you're using an adblock. They delay the videos loading, and throw up a dumb patronising message "oh, is this slow? how terrible, maybe you should disable adblock" Nah mate, fuck off. Honestly at this point if I see a company advertise on any platform that treats their users like shit this bad, I'm avoiding their products.

Whilst I know ads are annoying, spare a thought for just how mind boggling expensive it is to rub the data centres that are allowing billions of random people to upload and download video every second of every day. It's an engineering marvel if you really consider what's going on.

Waitrose are great and their adverts are far less annoying.
BearClaw4-20@reddit
Yeah it seems a lot these days, I've noticed certain channels seem to have longer ads or ads you can't skip, I wonder if the channel owner has a say in ad types or anything...
Side note, as well as the amount of ads going up the volume seems to have sky rocketed too! The ad is easily 5+ clicks up in volume to what the TV is set to.

My theory is that they ramp them up before they offer a YouTube Premium free trial offer. I too am seeing ridiculous amounts of ads at the moment, and I assume in a few days I will be offered a Premium trial again. After I decline it will then go back to normal levels again, until it starts ramping up the next time.
I don't think I am imagining it, but it may also be related to how frequently I use it, i.e., if I am watching a lot, it starts pushing the ads more, if I am using it less frequently it uses a lighter touch to try not to push me away.
woods60@reddit (OP)

I think part of the problem in the UK at least, is that we are not inured to the relentless onslaught of ads that our American cousins are. If you've ever spent time in the US and watched any terrestrial TV, the ads are unbelievably intrusive to the average Brit. Like, 6 ad breaks an hour, plus ads before the opening credits as well as after the opening credits but before the show starts.

A lot of people are, which is why browser adblocking and modified apps are getting increasingly common to the point that Youtube is fighting back more and more. Now every time I watch a video on the browser the video takes an extra 3-4 seconds to load and there is a little banner that says I might be facing interruptions because of adblocking. I'd much rather wait the extra few seconds of the spinning wheel than annoying ads. The experience with modified APKs for Android is pretty much flawless though.
Every time I use a friend's or public device, or a new one before I get my adblockers installed, I am shocked by how many ads you have to go through just to watch a simple short video. It's to the point where if my adblockers ever stop working I would just quit using Youtube altogether, it's terrible. And paying for Premium doesn't even guarantee and ad free experience anymore either.

Yes. I've just come off a free 3 month trial of premium and it fucking sucks. I swear they're feeding me even more ads than usual to get me to subscribe but I just can't justify the cost.
starsandbribes@reddit
VPN+ Albania. Worth it to use the actual Youtube app and not have to use a browser.
mtthghtn@reddit
Best thing I ever did was get premium. You get the added bonus of YouTube music too so I just canceled my Spotify and now I don’t even think about the subscription because the time I’ve gained not having to watch videos is second to none.
Fragile_reddit_mods@reddit
And this is why my daily watch time on YouTube is massively decreasing.
woods60@reddit (OP)
Good stuff
EntrepreneurAway419@reddit
What do you all watch on YouTube to make premium worth it?
Submerged_dopamine@reddit
Not specifically YouTube but ads in general across every social and media platform is making me sick to death. Every single app and streaming service is flooded to absolute death with them. Ads on Snapchat (£10.99 to remove), now you even pay for Prime/Netflix/Disney+ and pay EXTRA to remove ads. Instagram and Facebook are rife with them. Every second post is an ad.
The only premium service I pay for is YouTube because it is genuinely the only things I watch, plus you get YT music included so for that it isn't bad (and I don't care what anyone says, YT music is fucking miles better than Shitify).
I'm hoping this ad culture dies soon because it's crazy.
ChocLife@reddit
And what's up with airplane food?
retroheads@reddit
I know a million times that I can claim on a diesel vehicle purchased after 2007.
woods60@reddit (OP)
At this point I hope they spy on me through the phone camera to see my reaction
sjintje@reddit
I just take out my earphones and scroll through a few comments for 10 seconds. but yes, it is annoying. also the ads on reddit, I know you can just scroll past, but they're insanely repetitive and annoying.
woods60@reddit (OP)
Congratulations for openly admitting your brainrot (I do it too)
HalfExcellent9930@reddit
Once I farted when a YouTube advert was on
woods60@reddit (OP)
I hate the Revolut ad I’ll fart on that 20x
roymunson82@reddit
I sharted
Academic-Offer-112@reddit
Only to then get YT premium or install ad blocker for the YouTuber you are watching starts plugging their crap products or sponsors. You can’t escape!
CranberryCheese1997@reddit
No. I use YouTube Revanced on phone Stube on fitestick. I have not seen an ad in years. They even skin the ads by the creators themselves mid video.
woods60@reddit (OP)
Is it on iOS too?
Possible-Ad-2682@reddit
Same here. I'm astounded they still both work flawlessly.
CranberryCheese1997@reddit
Stube occasionally goes down once a month, but never usually more than a few hours at most. And Revanced has the very rare issue, but overall, they're both brilliant. Couldn't watch YouTube without them. Much prefer to just support my favourite creators directly than watch ads or pay for premium.
OkWhile8478@reddit
If you've spent anytime watching TV while in the US you'd be annoyed to find the ads are every few minutes instead of every 15 minutes. I imagine Google/YouTube want to monetise the UK like they do the US so we're going to feel bombarded with ads.
spidertattootim@reddit
No, I've been paying for YT Premium for years. Me and my partner share a family plan, and with YT Music (instead of Spotify etc) bundled with it we pay a tenner a month each. We both watch hours of YouTube every day.
woods60@reddit (OP)
I did consider that but it might be years till I make a family
spidertattootim@reddit
You don't have to use the family plan to use premium.
Bluecougar14@reddit
I set my VPN to Albania and it stops ads
Mr_Womby@reddit
It’s definitely getting worse. I had a 90 second ad pop up less than a minute into a clip. Can’t block them because I watch on TV.
ItsDominare@reddit
its 2025 why aren't you using an adblocker? haven't seen an ad on youtube for years
woods60@reddit (OP)
I have it on laptop but forgot to set it up on mobile.
Mocha-mootmoot@reddit
I bought YT Premium. It’s worth it to me because I use YT daily but I also use YT music. Overall seems a decent price to me
smady3@reddit
I see the worlds governments are not the only ones to employ troll farms, judging by the responses. lol.
tethered_end@reddit
Use a blocker, ain't seen an ad in years
SprintsAC@reddit
r/brave_browser
Vegetable_File_1321@reddit
Youtube premium was the best thing I've paid for hands down.
Necrospire@reddit
Tell me you have an iPhone without saying it.
Vegetable_File_1321@reddit
Afraid not. Just a Samsung my Mum passed down to me.
Satoshiman256@reddit
Just use Brave
Patient_West3149@reddit
Then don't watch it.
You either value it enough to tolerate the ads, or you pay for premium, or you decide the content is not worth what they are charging. It's not a free product and something needs to pay for the content creators and infrastructure.
AwayOutcome6020@reddit
Or use an adblocker, obviously
Patient_West3149@reddit
I assumed OP can not or does not want to do this, else why complain in the first place?
It's absolutely anyone's right to use an adblocker but it does make the experience worse for those who don't/can't as they now need to watch more ads or pay more for premium to support the freeloaders
omgu8mynewt@reddit
I use firefox and the free plugin adblocker, anyone who would watch adverts on youtube has far more patience than me. Anyone who pays for youtube is a mug.
ZeldaFan158@reddit
Ublock is your friend
DameKumquat@reddit
The Brave browser seems to block them pretty well.
Star___Wars@reddit
Ublock origin on firefox
rovstuart@reddit
This is why I pay for premium, well, that and the background play on the mobile
Necrospire@reddit
It depends on what you are watching the YouTube app on, smart TVs are the worst even ITVX or Amazon have better placement, using the app itself would be second, access YouTube via a browser with a script / ad blocker.
Forte69@reddit
SmartTube Next on my Firestick. No ads, no shorts, sponsorblock.
errwutt@reddit
It’s simply not just the amount of ads anymore either, it’s the type of ads. The bad AI, the overly sexualised content of the ads, and then that very specific ad with that annoying guy with that annoying OTT voice that goes “the red gooner gang brought the rizzler to edge me!!!!!!” Wtf even is that? People will do anything for money these days.
ASCII_Princess@reddit
For some reason i stopped getting ads a couple of years ago, now I only get one for a UK phone network and then only when I'm listening to videos in the music category. Kinda weird but I'm not complaining.
themightychew@reddit
No I pay for Premium 🤷♂️ I know all the 'right on' youth don't like supporting 'the man' but when you're talking about the cost of a packet of fags for a month's worth of YouTube, and you're not paying a licence fee, it seems like a bargain to me.
MetallicBaka@reddit
I have about a billion assorted ad-blockers. Without them I'd have lost my mind by now.
I'll tolerate some ads between videos, but fuck YT if they think they're going to interrupt me mid-watch.
No_Shine_4707@reddit
I pay premium. I get you tube music no adverts and ability to play in background and download for about 12 pounds a month. Not a bad deal rwally, much prefer to pay for youtube premium than netflix ir spotify. Honestly, only signed up for the free trial but it is game changing to have any youtube content in an insrant with no adverts.
Kpowell911@reddit
Just buy Premium. Its so worth it. I spend more time watching youtube than TV these days
jimmysavillespubes@reddit
I use vanced on my phone, its started being pretty slow though. Probably just need to download updated version.
sigma914@reddit
I run Firefox, ublock origin and sponsorblock, so I've never seen an ad on youtube
NepsHasSillyOpinions@reddit
Same here, plus Vanced on my phone. Never see ads.
If I really like a content creator, I will just Patreon them.
sigma914@reddit
I just run firefox, ublock and sponsorblock on my phone too :)
fannyabdabs@reddit
Same. I'd add dearrow to it as well.
I also use ControlD for ads in general plus proxy routing - I haven't been served an ad anywhere for years. Plus kagi for search
KayC720@reddit
Hate it but I’ll never pay for premium, I probably watch one YouTube video a week
IridiumQuality@reddit
I watch a lot of YouTube even for music because I like the videos or live performances. Honestly, Premium is worth every penny if you can afford it. Ad-Free YT is amazing.
BambooSound@reddit
I'm so used to YouTube Premium now they've probably got me for life. Way better than Netflix.
Electronic_Feed9114@reddit
Install Adblock Plus for free
As far as I'm aware it can only be downloaded for free on a laptop, so not ideal for TV viewing, but you can always cast it from your laptop, or plug it in direct
BatChoice3106@reddit
All the ads are for scammy get rich quick fraudster courses.
Interstellar-Metroid@reddit
It worse than watching standard television. I can't stand watching YouTube anymore, not without a ad blocker.
Creative-Job7462@reddit
I didn't mind watching ads as it supports the creator. If I saw 3 unskippable ads, I would use the opportunity to go touch grass.
But recently they've been showing pornographic ads, and it's really awkward when you have the volume on max and everyone hears the PH tune in the living room.
I'm now using YouTube premium from a cheaper country. If they revoke my premium, I'll turn to ad blockers.
CartographerMotor598@reddit
Not really,.I block the hell out of them.
Crinkez@reddit
Firefox + uBlock Origin + sponsorblock.
UncleFuckerDetected@reddit
Nope, cause I use a browser with an inbuilt tracker and ad blocker . Can watch any YouTube video without any ads or interruptions. Check out Brave browser. Takes a little getting used to but I guarantee you'll seriously think about going back to safari /chrome.
scoschooo@reddit
Also not hard to block Youtube ads on Chrome. But Brave is a good recommendation.
swiggityswooty72@reddit
You ever get that message that there will be fewer ads if you watch this long ad…..it’s always a bloody lie
OpportunityLiving167@reddit
This is my 1st month of YT ads.
Less painful than i imagined, and far fewer than i feared.
shingaladaz@reddit
££££££££££££££$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$€€€€€€€€€€€
“WE WANT IT!!!!!!”
rookie93@reddit
I honestly kind of forget that YT is meant to have ads. Use Brave browser, it even removes the ads from your phone/allows background play
IPoisonedThePizza@reddit
Smartube
bigjohnnyswilly@reddit
It’s relentless . Nothing annoys me more than a car finance ad or Monday . Com It makes me hate you give
sometimes_works@reddit
Nah, got premium.
AwayOutcome6020@reddit
Nah, use Firefox
sometimes_works@reddit
Nice bro
shevbo@reddit
Yes - sick of it. Don't use the app, use a browser with ad blocker.
_methuselah_@reddit
Use (whichever ad blocker you like) or the Brave browser.
Jamesapm@reddit
Completely agree with you. It's disgusting! Reminds me of the scene from ready player one! 😂
On my handheld devices I use brave now and it works great generally
On my fire stick it's probably the most annoying thing in the world. But what do we do about it?
Cauliflower-Informal@reddit
No because I pay for yt pemium.
Smashcannons@reddit
Block ads, don't see ads.
Mr-Incy@reddit
I use adblockers on my laptop, the only ads I see are the ones the creator talks about within the video, although I simply hover my mouse over the timeline and click where the ad ends, usually easy to tell as the creator typically records the ad and edits it in, so they might be wearing different clothes or be sat/stood in a different place to where they are videoing, there is usually a QR code or a link flash up on the screen as well.
en91n33r@reddit
Not had a YouTube ad in about 7 years mate.
dvi84@reddit
I can deal with ads but they’re now about a minute long when I’ve selected a 30 second video. 15 seconds is doable.
keblin86@reddit
I get none.
Use Brave Browser!
BullshitRick@reddit
Yeah it’s become ridiculous, had to sit through a 2 minute ad for the video to start, then got an ad 1 minute into the video, then another ad about 5 minutes later, I said fuck this and deleted the app, the video I wanted to watch was 14 minutes long.
orbitpro@reddit
I put on ign news round up, it's like 5 mins long. 2 ads before it starts, then I get another ad, then 30 seconds later another. I'm getting into the habit of closing the video once an ad starts to play.
LyingFacts@reddit
Giving? is YouTube ads many how of up fed anyone
Healthy-Drink421@reddit
I have noticed, probably to make people buy premium. tbh its working. Next month I'll buy premium. Its about the only app I use regularly so probably worth the money.
spiritanimalslug1@reddit
i find if you click the refresh button top left of screen ( ctrl-r ) a couple of times the ad just ends and moves on to the next ad, do that 2 or three times you get to your video without having to watch any ads at all. ad blocker plus installed also never seen more than a few seconds of any ad on youtube.
no need for youtube premium, you know they'll be putting ads on that next.
marlonoranges@reddit
Use the Brave browser
ElusiveCrab@reddit
I got premium because youtubes my bedtime media and got sick of super loud ads going off. Used to just adblock but the cat&mouse game sucks
seann__dj@reddit
This is why i pay for premium.
GainsAndPastries@reddit
I have noticed more and more YouTubers having YouTube ads switched on but also their own ads in the video itself.
Not a fan of that at all.
Late_Temperature_234@reddit
I got YouTube Premium via a Russian VPN in 2020 for the equivalent of around £3 a month and its been brilliant
PackageOk4947@reddit
I got Premium as well, and have zero problems.
CommandSpaceOption@reddit
YouTube premium.
Inevitable-Bother103@reddit
I use Google chrome only for YouTube cos you can put an ad blocker on it. Not watched an ad for years
ZeroCool5577@reddit
Yeah so got myself YouTube premium and I love it.
