Are people comfortable having digital IDs?
NovelAware957@reddit
We just experienced jlr shutdown HMRC unable to be reached!!!!! What genius wants this headache
Interesting_Front709@reddit (OP)
Geniuses who have the heads buried in the sand. It will literally be the last free decision we will ever make if we comply to this digital ID, people ought to look at Estonia and India, so much financial loss, inability to access their own bank accounts, fraud, phishing scams, its diabolical. And the fact that this digital ID/Brit Card will be used to control your carbon footprint, food consumption, travel etc, especially when b a n k s are already sharing purchase info with the govt because we rely on cards heavily.
MuayJudo@reddit
You're already identified by your NHS number, national insurance number, driving licence, passport, government gateway ID, etc. I'd rather have all that amalgamated into one ID as long as it's not something we have to keep on us at all times.
NovelAware957@reddit
Most of us are. Will shops actually be protected if they not paying pension and no for am employee????
NovelAware957@reddit
Not protected . Prosected
Interesting_Front709@reddit (OP)
It’s also about having your vaccine status, carbon footprint etc , it will be like the social credit system in China, all information private/public everything under this is accessible by the government, Tony Blair is pushing for it.
MuayJudo@reddit
Has any of that been suggested by the government or are you jumping to conclusions? Vaccine status is already available under your NHS number. I don't know how they would track carbon footprint.
InteractionNeither60@reddit
Your thick
MuayJudo@reddit
If you're going to call someone thick, at least get the spelling and grammar right.
JammydodgerNo1@reddit
Ok so I'm guessing this conversation is still rolling ? 😆 so this mandatory digital card is inevitably all about control of citizens. It's nothing like a passport of drivers licence as these cards do not track your everyday living. It's not conspiracy it's fact. Blair pushing for it. Labour rolling it out. Just like the Chinese Social Credit System .... have a look on YouTube it will definitely give you some more in-depth information of what's happening. In UK they are bringing /letting in illegal immigrants by boats from ie: France to Dover with no papers ....On purpose..... now they can say to us oh we need to keep everyone safe so we are bringing in the digital ID card .... all done by design ...... so transparent....good luck on your rabbit hole research you'll disappear for years 😆😆
Current-Middle-7589@reddit
You’re absolutely RIGHT.
Interesting_Front709@reddit (OP)
All your purchases will be tracked.Everything will be tracked. Imo anything Tony Blair has to do with its not a good idea.
MuayJudo@reddit
Any source for that or are you just spouting conspiracies? In any event, every purchase you make by card is obviously tracked.
cwcvillereal@reddit
Least obvious Tony Blair alt account
InteractionNeither60@reddit
He’s not “spouting conspiracy theories “ he’s telling you what very country that has introduced this has used it for , are you stupid ?
MuayJudo@reddit
No. Again, get your spelling and grammar right before asking if someone is stipid. In any event, they were unable to show me sources for their nformation. I assume you will be able to? I'm genuinely curious to know.
Interesting_Front709@reddit (OP)
Yes it is obviously tracked but when something is enforced and mandatory ‘freedom’ seems ever so elusive in this country. I didn’t spout any conspiracy theories. 😂
MuayJudo@reddit
Can you provide the sources of your information then? I'm not being facetious, I'm just curious. I can't find anything about them wanting your spending patterns, carbon footprint, etc linked to the card.
EconomicsPotential84@reddit
You've evidently already made up your mind, so why asked the question?
Interesting_Front709@reddit (OP)
To see what everybody else thought of it? Wasn’t it obvious?
InteractionNeither60@reddit
Your quite simply thick . Every country too introduce this style of ID has ended up using it for control , credit scores , wrong moves at work , incorrect decisions in the real world are recorded at any moment Possibke and effect the individual in later life when trying too elevate the system will not let you , you actually need too educate yourself … it’s sad .
SlayerofDemons96@reddit
Calling people thick, but you can't even spell correctly
Fucking okay then 👌
Synonym_Rolls@reddit
Is English your first language?
MuayJudo@reddit
My word you really have had responded to me three times calling me thick or stupid, and in each one used incorrect grammar and spelling. Glass houses ans all that.
Perhaps you can try to have a conversation with someone with a different opinion without resorting to insulting them.
Either way, happy for you to show me sources and educate me.
Cautious_Car_2167@reddit
So, if you already have multiple sources of personal identification, why would you want yet another one? Especially if that nationwide source costs billions to roll out.
NovelAware957@reddit
Business owners might be targets . School leavers of wealthy parents could be victimized by foreign wanting money. You could have your identity stolen if your wealthy
Sensitive-Entrance27@reddit
Are we really going to Targeted and Dynamic Mass Surveillance, Personal Data collection and storage ?
Because that's what Digital ID does!
It allows Every Intelligence agency in the world to target anyone with a digital ID and track the activity through transactional analysis of where, when and why they are using that ID. Over time this information is collected to allow behavioural analysis of the subject being tracked. Other data sources such as social media, online activity and financial records are added to form a complete profile of a persons life that details, everything from what they eat to what their history is with the police, to the last thing they had an argument about.
This is possible without Digital ID Cards, it's just more expensive to create a targeted system as this would need to be done through AI facial and Gait recognition and Behavioural analysis embedded into cameras in citys.
Digital ID Cards allow the same function but save the 2.8billion that it would cost to upgrade the UK's Survillence infostructure to include AI facial and gait recognition and behavioural analysis in order to impliment Targeted Survillence.
The reason it is Dynamic, is because it is large scale, and sharable internationally.
An entire international group can be targeted, through there Digital ID's, in any country, for surveillance and data collection!
While the System has benefits for Anti-terrorism those benefits require the mass surveillance and data collection of all, before they are seen.
Don't forget, Every telecommunication device has a microphone, speaker combination and minimum and usually a camera connected to a circuit with a Bi-poler Junction Transistor, a receiver, a load and a switch.
The reciever provides an output which is connected to the transistor's base, the load is connect in series to the transistors emitter and ground, the switch is a low voltage frequency sent to the device along either a powerline or a signal sent through a Registered Jack. The load is the microphone, or the camera, or both depending on circuit configuration.
Intelligence agencies are able to activate these components in electronic devices even if the device is powered of as long as the device is plugged in and the socket on the wall turned on, or the device has battery power.
In fact standard battery power monitors in mobile devices omit 10%, which primarily serves for emergency call purposes, but also ensures intelligence gathering companies can turn on your microphone, camera or both when ever they want.
It may be illegal, but it does not stop them doing it.
Edward Snowden, only forced the CIA to relocate a project of their's, designed for Mass Surveillance and Personal Data Collection, because he embarased them by forcing them to appear infront of a tribunal at which they denied the existence of it.
They simply moved it to A51 along with several other Mass Surveillance programs.
The UK's Brit card scheme is a rework of the CIA's program, only this time by integrating mass surveillance with an ID scheme the Government has found away to legalise Targeted and Dynamic Mass Servillance through making Digital ID a necessity for the Right to Work in Britan.
If that's the kind of country your ok with living in, then ask yourself why we are not an ally with China !
ishine7909@reddit
Vietnam bank has today closed bank accounts of those who do not have biometric details!
We already have many forms of digital id. So I propose, no passport, driving licence, government gateway number, NHS card, NI card Then go ahead but , immediately cease the need for all the other forms of id.
NedHendo@reddit
From what I have read so far, this may well be the thin end of the wedge and potentially a tool for social control in the long run. It is being sold to the public as a means for controlling illegal immigration, which sounds positive to the majority of people….but I hear the Government are exploring the introduction of digital currency (anyone notice how there are less and less bank branches). Ultimately this could lead (note I say “could lead”, not that it will, just that it would be a possible outcome) to a situation whereby the Government could freeze or restrict your bank account and spending, if they were opposed to your behaviour - be it your social media activity, any brush with the law, your support for a particular organisation or whatever. We have managed for so long and successfully without a national ID card, why do we need one now? I would encourage readers to do their own research on this - once we have a Brit Card system there is no turning back, make sure you feel comfortable with the idea and if not, oppose it!
Low_Badger_5195@reddit
we haven't managed for so long. this country has been declining, crime is getting worse.
falling-quincy@reddit
There's less bank branches because everything is going digital and people prefer online banking.
Interesting_Front709@reddit (OP)
And you are right! You just need to look at whats happening in Europe and how its being executed, this government is pro globalist, pro EU and WEF
General-Movie@reddit
Happy to have it all in one place. I have nothing to hide and am currently not planning to commit any crimes.
JS43362@reddit
"nothing to hide"
Are you happy to share your bank details with anyone, for example?
General-Movie@reddit
Not sure if it will carry bank details. Besides, government knows everything about me anyway so there is no difference.
AOD_Aeryes@reddit
People murder everyday even though its illegal so we might as well make it legal.
Thats your mindset.
Cautious_Car_2167@reddit
Until it gets lost or stolen. How do you go about getting it replaced when you have no official ID?
AOD_Aeryes@reddit
This is a leftists dream.
Puzzleheaded-Yak9722@reddit
Would be kinda nice to have ID on my phone and not have to carry a physical ID around
Cautious_Car_2167@reddit
Until someone pinches or hacks your smartphone. What about those who don't have one or can't use them?
ward2k@reddit
I mean you could make the exact same argument about having your wallet nicked
And it's far easier to steal an ID out of a wallet than it is to unlock a phone (which is borderline impossible on most modern devices)
Puzzleheaded-Yak9722@reddit
I’m not worried about that personally. Also, there’s nothing stopping other people from bringing out their physical ID
BeardedBaldMan@reddit
It's a stupid name but as someone currently living somewhere with a mandatory ID card system I can't see any good reasons not to have one.
Government Gateway is OK but it would be a lot more effective if there was a central system.
In the UK I'm effectively recognised by
Government Gateway ID
NI Number
NHS Number
UTR - for HMRC
Passport number
Driving Licence Number
and probably something else I've forgotten.
ward2k@reddit
This is currently being replaced with OneLogin though I'm not too sure if the digital ID is going to build upon the OneLogin system or if it's going to be it's own separate entity
Antique-Squash3017@reddit
So lo long as it doesn’t HAVE to be on phone.
TMSQR@reddit
so is the idea of this that all of those are replaced with one ID card? My concern would be what if I lost it, or if it's on my phone digitally, what happens if my phone is stolen? I'm not arguing for or against, just asking a question.
Honkerstonkers@reddit
The same thing that happens if you lose your passport or driving licence. You get a new one.
Cautious_Car_2167@reddit
How do you prove who you are if you've already lost your card? How can they re-issue a card without any official ID?
NoManagement9195@reddit
I'm in the uk and i have been asked to verify who i am by the police through Facebook (they were looking for someone else - wrong place, wrong time but it was all okay).
BeardedBaldMan@reddit
If my ID card (which is physical) were lost then it's quite easy.
Report it either online or at my local admin office (I have one in my village, they are common)
Get a new card. If I have signed up for the online profile I can do it through that. Otherwise I'd need to go to the admin office and provide additional proof of address, photo id etc. This could be passport, driving licence, bank statements etc.
If I were someone with no passport or driving licence (so no photo id) then my ID would be verified through other means - including having someone like my wife and another independent person verify my identity in conjunction with other checks.
Cautious_Car_2167@reddit
So why would you want yet another form of personal ID, if you have so many already? It's spending billions of taxpayers money on something we have already.
Interesting_Front709@reddit (OP)
Vaccine status, Carbon spending, net zero etc

I_ALWAYS_UPVOTE_CATS@reddit
Meh. It's amusing listening to the people complain about them while happily carrying a driving licence, passport, national insurance number, and a GPS tracking device.
JS43362@reddit
I don't drive, I haven't travelled abroad for over a decade, NI is for a specific (and honourable) purpose and GPS isn't a state matter as far as I'm aware.
Cautious_Car_2167@reddit
You carry driving licences and passports on a voluntary basis.
Bellimars@reddit
I genuinely don't care but if it involved immense cost and a contract to a private company then I'd be against as the money would be best spent elsewhere. The country functions as it is.
Interesting_Front709@reddit (OP)
NHS has already awarded a 330 million dollar contract to Palantir.
Bellimars@reddit
Oh dear God, no. This needs to stop.
Mammoth-Difference48@reddit
I dont walk around with any of those things on my person except my phone and even that I frequently walk without.
tomtytom@reddit
I'd prefer a printed physical card that rolls up all the various government databases into one. Driving license, NHS, pilots license, government gateway, HMRC one car to rule them all.
Mammoth-Difference48@reddit
It’s a problem if they are “present on demand”
BeardedBaldMan@reddit
Why? I live somewhere where it's present on demand and it's not the oppressive system some people imagine.
Mattechoo@reddit
That’s just what people in an oppressed society would say!
NeatMaterial6677@reddit
Most of Europe have id cards. I don’t see oppression there. It’s a simple id card for citizens. Makes sense to me. Not everyone has a passport and driving license.
Current-Middle-7589@reddit
It’s not the same. Trust me. I’m from Holland. Completely different. Plus here they want to make 15 mins cities. Complete controlled prison system and it has NOTHING to do with the immigrants. ALL about complete controll.

I was only joking. The ID itself is fine.

You are using a mobile phone. Which tracks you and has pictures of your car, holidays, mum, kids, dog and in all probability some variation of current or deleted minge, cock, tits, arse, torso pictures with a side of your bank details..... But not carrying a card is freedom and sticking it to the man.
A nation of don't oppress me whilst the top 2% steal our earnings. And people with no right to work deliver our food orders - but hey ho if I pretend to care it'll all work out.
We truly are thick twats.
zarathekhan@reddit
You know not everyone has a phone right?
falling-quincy@reddit
I know I'm a bit late but until recently I didn't have a phone and they're becoming mandatory now. Lots of sites like Amazon require you to have an email and a phone number and you can't even claim benefits without one. The writing is on the wall and if you don't have a mobile phone then you should probably get one. Homeless charities give them out for free because it's hard to get a job without one.
Mammoth-Difference48@reddit
BUT I can choose to switch my phone off and leave it at home if I want. And often do. It shouldn’t be compulsory to carry something. That’s my objection.
PreferenceAncient612@reddit
Well we will never control immigration this way but im happy to base policy on feelings rather than sense recent history has proven it an enormous success.
Cautious_Car_2167@reddit
They've had ID cards in France for decades, the country is still teaming with illegal immigrants today.
Mammoth-Difference48@reddit
The question was not how or if we should control immigration. It was specifically how we feel about cards. There is a personal liberties issue which should not be ignored.
PreferenceAncient612@reddit
Completely irrelevant but on the radio the other day - Shelia Fogerty - they were discussing the police should take into account peoples feelings about crime in areas ahead of statistics. I find it fucking mental ..... Polishing cutlery on the sinking titanic.
Cheers for response though i know my brain works differently to others - quote my daughter.
Mammoth-Difference48@reddit
Isn’t it more nuanced than that? For example, if there is a perception of high sexual crimes in an area despite the actual incidence being low, that false perception could encourage women to stay home or be unnecessarily afraid. So action should be taken to correct the perception. Just one example but I can see a legitimate need to track both actual crime and public perception of it.
PreferenceAncient612@reddit
In the context of the police spending resources on perception, again I think this is lunacy.. We had a whole set of stranger danger adverts when i was younger (some time ago)...people felt much better, the police visited our school enforcing the message but uncle perv just cracked on without the need of sweeties and kittens whilst everyone looked the other way.
Again i know its me but feelings ahead of critical thinking seems bonkers, im sure my thinking seems old fashioned. My roof is fine but i feel its leaking, the evidence is the piss wet bathroom floor and a dripping noise behind the bath panel - but nope ring that roofer.
Interesting_Front709@reddit (OP)
Yup. Like vaccine status, and carbon footprint
jonewer@reddit
Who is saying it's going to be compulsory to carry it?
Mammoth-Difference48@reddit
If it isn’t what is the purpose over all of the other forms of ID?
jonewer@reddit
No, it's just like a passport/driving licence number etc. except everyone would have one and it would be the One True Version
Mammoth-Difference48@reddit
So no real benefit but a lot of cost? Sounds awesome.
Honkerstonkers@reddit
Do you drive?
Mammoth-Difference48@reddit
Nope
crucible@reddit
A simple card is easier to carry than a full passport. Some people may not have either a passport or a driving licence - especially if you can’t hold a DL for medical reasons. Other schemes like PASS are pretty crap from what I hear.
Cautious_Car_2167@reddit
ID cards cost billions to roll out, most people already have Passports, driving licences and biometric resident cards.
crucible@reddit
Passports are a problem if lost (and costly to replace).
I still think the best answer for a generic card is a driving licence but with a non-driving entitlement on it.
Mammoth-Difference48@reddit
My point is that noone is obliged to carry a passport around. They shouldnt be obligated to carry a card either. It’s not about the size of the item.
crucible@reddit
I can think of a few occasions in the past when it would have helped me.
Other nations actually had the whole "papers, please" thing under Nazi ocxcupation in WWII, for example. Yet msot of Europe is now OK with the idea of a national ID.
id2d@reddit
I'm very out of date by this reference so don't know about the current status, but I remember years ago, it being mentioned that the French ID card was technically not required to be carried. But the reality was 'Yeah. Try being a minority and not carrying it and see what kind of treatment you'll get from the police'
Current-Middle-7589@reddit
You will be controlled to the bone. If you say a few hurty words they’ll cut your gas or electrics off. I am not going to comply.
AdComprehensive9776@reddit
To the people that are suggesting that this card would be more convenient than carrying around other forms of ID, the whole point of opposing a national digital ID system is that it would link your digital identity to all of your online and offline habits. Being so convenient means that it would likely be used by landlords and employers (and would likely be pushed to be required to employ someone) to prove a person's identity. Inevitably it will be pushed therefore into the access of public services such as transport, banking systems, etc. With the online safety act that has been employed, this digital ID service will almost definitely be eventually legally required to access online apps like social media (discord already requires verification of your age to access certain parts of their platform, a jump to a 'convenient' digital ID is small for other social platforms), linking your social activities with your identity. Once it has been ingrained into all of our lives, it'll be easy to push an extreme authoritarian regime into place once people are being fully surveilled as they're unable to access anywhere without their digital ID logging it. People with political ideologies that are seen as troublesome to the state will have their finances easily shut off, access to public transport removed, unable to find work with new employers, unable to rent a new place of living. The whole point of this is to build a centralised state controlled surveillance system that sees EVERYTHING you do. It may seem like these ideas are far fetched for some of you, however, put simply, all of these things are favourable to people in power and none of them are good for the common person, and so once in place, it'll be almost impossible to have it removed.
Baslifico@reddit
Thank you for taking the time to write that up so eloquently. Would you be offended if I lifted parts of it for my own replies?
creepynutsac@reddit
Very well said. 💯 Correct. And this is how it starts small and unassuming. We just have to tell them to get fucked now in the early stages like that COVID pass bollocks.
Interesting_Front709@reddit (OP)
💯💯💯 People are oblivious 🤷🏽♀️
creepynutsac@reddit
Labour can take their britcard and shove it up starmers arse. Idgaf what they say or do neither myself or any one in my family will have one.
Interesting_Front709@reddit (OP)
Labour are working with World economic forum, and this is happening all across Europe, Canada, Australia - Big Brother surveillance - I read that in Ireland the private communications will be surveilled. In the UK any private phone conversation longer than 10 mins will be recorded. We are living under the worst possible government sadly. And people are either oblivious, don’t care or support totalitarianism.
falling-quincy@reddit
I don't know where you got longer than 10 minute phone calls are recorded because that's economically unfeasible. Audio recordings take up a lot of space even when they're compressed. If this is true which you haven't given a source then it's probably transcribing the conversation.
Baslifico@reddit
I agree with your conclusion... That's a dumb criteria for logging -it's most likely keyword/sentiment based- but I disagree with your reasoning.
You only need a cloud provider and a large enough budget...

Exactly. It's absolutely disgusting what's going on and no one listens to us. The unrest is starting everywhere and it will only get worse. Moat people are like sheep and will go along. Mostly the people who are all up to date with their COVID jabs. As for the awoken they won't. It'll be a card to start, then for everyone's convenience a phone app you can add your bank account to and every other thing. And then you're fully trackable and controllable 24/7. I honestly think there will be extreme civil disobedience before it happens though. We all just have to stick together.

creepynutsac@reddit
Bro don't be a splash and wake up. There's a big difference between a mobile phone giving out signals that are trackable. And an app giving the government permission to spy on every aspect of your life whenever they want. Controlling your money. Because no doubt there'll be an option to add your bank details. And them being able to see where and what you're doing and have done at any time if they think Ur misbehaving for what ever reason. From an app with everything about you they can basically control you. You can't be that naive. Surely not....
ValidGarry@reddit
Your conspiracy is better than my facts, so you keep on fighting the good fight. Bro.

🥱🥱🙄🙄 Do let me know when you've gotten your next COVID booster won't you. And keep chugging down those government facts like a good citizen.

creepynutsac@reddit
Lol.
AioliTrue5294@reddit
I am concerned If integrated with CCTV, facial recognition, or mobile apps, it could enable mass surveillance. I have read it is going to be turned into mobile app which can log what apps and wallets are used. What is the purpose of this? This card is suppose to stop immigration it will not and it is a waste of time.
creepynutsac@reddit
It will be an app guaranteed and by the time they finish introducing new aspects of your life to add to it for convenience they'll be able to control every part of your existence.
AioliTrue5294@reddit
I think it’s time to get rid of my phone I have been thinking about this for a while and just use a landline

creepynutsac@reddit
Yes. Go underground. Totally off the radar. Nah only joking. But yes as hard as it would be, getting rid of Ur mobile phone would be a huge step. I wish I didn't need one for business or I'd get shot of mine. They're slowly destroying the human connection.

It won't be a "handy little card". It'll be an app on your phone. Where if need be they can track you at any time and in time they'll introduce your bank account to it and god knows what else and then you'll be fucked. They'll be able to control every aspect of your life if you don't behave. If you think differently then you deserve all that's coming to you.

Will all providers of services be forced to accept them as identity?
jonewer@reddit
Right now I'm having to pay a solicitor to certify copies of my birth certificate and passport, and then I need to find another 3 utility bills, so another solicitor can verify my identity.
Why not just have an ID so we can stop this ridiculous nonsense
NoCommission3204@reddit
Do you think it would work? After all a driving licence hasn’t worked in your circumstance. Why would an ID card?
jonewer@reddit
Not everyone had a driving licence though, so driving licenses aren't recognised as a universal ID
NoCommission3204@reddit
Which doesn’t make a lot of sense. Passports should be accepted, but aren’t. Even though anyone can get one. You have to pay, but you will have to pay for an id card. Just make a passport mandatory.
jonewer@reddit
Yeah, or one of the other unique identifiers.
A driving licence would be an idea, you just don't have entitlements to drive/ride until you pass the relevant tests, but everyone has one.
The DVLA already had a concept of "Ghost" licences
Verbal-Gerbil@reddit
I have nothing to hide (normally) and would cherish the convenience
creepynutsac@reddit
Starmer? Is that you?
InteractionNeither60@reddit
Can’t wait for it too happen and all you sheep regret your stupid remarks , fucking educate yourself you silly little cunts .
China was a democracy before digital ID , you wanna do some fucking research . Jesus .
Gullible_Fan4427@reddit
Ahh I remember a guy I knew who refused to use the Oyster card because he didn’t like being tracked. I questioned if there’s any criminal activity going on that he doesn’t wanna be tracked for and nope, just doesn’t want them to track him… why the police/government/they would be wasting the time and energy actively tracking a random is beyond me..
creepynutsac@reddit
Yeah Ur missing the point though aren't you. He doesn't think they'll be tracking him. He doesn't want them having the ability to track him if they wanted to U buffoon. 🙄
cwcvillereal@reddit
I think it's stupid and they gon use it to control you guys like in that movie v for vendetta or something
Beautiful_Hour_4744@reddit

Plot twist, they are the nationalist conspiracy theorist
zippy72@reddit
Last time they tried ID cards it cost them the election and brought the Tories in for 14 years.
It would be fine if managed properly, like in most European countries, where it's just a thing that mats your life easier. But knowing what happened last time they'll try to tie it to some seriously authoritarian nonsense nobody is in favour of except GCHQ and the security services.
mr-dirtybassist@reddit
