Has anyone ever quit smoking to have more money for cars

I think about this very often and I think I should send it

Not smoking but I'm 1547 days clean and sober, which has saved me tens of thousands - which I totally dumped into cars.
TheCubanBaron@reddit
One of my buddies quit smoking for more Warhammer.
rythejdmguy@reddit
When I was racing I quit basically everything and would eat tuna sandwiches and soup to turn more laps. Lol
DanDi58@reddit
Think about quitting so that you can teach your grandson how to work on cars….
RacerX400@reddit
Yup. 10 years later I still have no money for the project cars but now I smoke cigars. 🤷🏽♂️

I did exactly this as my motivation. I added up the cost of my smoking habit at the time and figured out I had a car payment in there. Stopped smoking for 60 days to make sure I stuck to it and bought a new ride. Never had a relapse.

From quitting smoking cigarettes and vaping while it was cheap, I managed to scoop myself one of my dream cars and am able to afford to daily it.

Yes

In Canada they hit $15 a pack and I was like FUUUUUCK that.
So now I just drink discount beers from Costco, and build hot rods.
YuRi0_86@reddit
Used to smoke soft pack lucky strikes, something like $12 a pack.
You really so save a lot of money, but not only that I used to buy a red bull every morning; now, THAT is expensive.
in the end the money I saved from cutting back all that stuff went towards painting my car.

Yeah used to drink 3 monsters a day that adds up

Smoking what?

My great grandpa quit smoking in the 70s (I'm from Appalachia these are quick generations I'm 36 and he's 96) because he was pinching pennies trying to keep the family stock car team together. The early 70s were brutal to family teams and he was doing all he could to keep it together. In the early 80s the family moved to circuit racing and hill climb and never looked back. But yeah he says quitting smoking saved the family.

Me. I'm paying for my $2000 wheels in cigs. I told myself I have to quit for a year to pay for them. I've slipped a few times but smoked way less. Need to quit anyway - it's not even enjoyable most of the time anymore.

Exactly I felt so stupid this week standing outside smoking in 100 degree weather
speedyhemi@reddit
I feel ya, my man, as I sit here smoking a dart.
nerfdriveby94@reddit
Maybe a silly reason to some but that doesn't matter. If that's your reason then DO IT if you have a motivator that's stronger than your need to smoke you will suceed!
Quit and get that project financed bro!
Thatguy7242@reddit
I hope that you do. Cars are way more fun.
realsalmineo@reddit
I guess, as if the proven health risks weren’t already enough reason. But if that is what it takes to get you to quit:
skylinesora@reddit
Do you also want us to hold your hand and encourage you to stop smoking.
Educational_Clue2001@reddit (OP)
Yes and perhaps a cookie and a reach around if ur offering
skylinesora@reddit
I have the cookie, but your sister told me the rest has been her job
Educational_Clue2001@reddit (OP)
Yeah I got nothing for that one I could ask ai but that would be cheap u win with the sister reach around but I will be stealing that for future internet bickering.

Not directly. But getting a nicer daily was a side benefit after quitting nicotine for good. The same money I'd spend feeding the cigarette monster is now freed up to go towards a payment and insurance.
Smoked tobacco for nearly 20 years, from 18ish to almost 40. Finally broke free around Thanksgiving of '23. The two toughest times for me (in terms of cravings) were right after eating, and while driving. The only thing that worked for me was taking it one day at a time. If you can make it that first day, the rest are cake.
Doing a deep clean on your daily's interior to get the ash and smell off of your mind can help if you're trying to quit. Out of sight, out of mind. Plus, it's so much easier to keep a black interior clean as a former smoker.
Educational_Clue2001@reddit (OP)
I have been smoking since I was 12 years old I'm currently 19 and I think that 32 cigarettes a day is the stupidest thing I could possibly do however I don't smoke in my daily great advice tho the project trucks are full of ash
mschiebold@reddit
I quit because, where I live, it's too flippin cold to be going out for a cigarette. I can live without it.
njroma@reddit
Close, I quit smoking to be able to afford to buy my first motorcycle. It's been almost 8 years, I've had five motorcycles and I've ridden a combined 35,000 miles since then. Buell blast, Kawasaki z1000, Buell Lightning, Harley-Davidson Sportster, Indian FTR. Still off the smokes
LordGTR@reddit
Yep smoking cost a lot of money just to kill yourself
Kip-ft@reddit
Uhh yeah dude. 20 packs is like a 200tw tire.
inaccurateTempedesc@reddit
My shitbike cost about 50 packs
fjs0001@reddit
In college I stopped drinking soda so that I could afford beer.

Same energy
illbeyourdrunkle@reddit
I did for 6 months. Had a heart attack, rehabbed myself, quit smoking, used the money to do more racing. Made the race wrap up video. https://youtu.be/r4n57077y1w?si=TlmZDeGCZe7WacEP My team and the story is around the 11:50 mark of this video.

Sweet mustang I'm glad you were able to recover thank you for sharing
mike_d85@reddit
I knew a guy that quit smoking for parts. That's as close as I can get.
He took his cigarette money, set it aside and spent it on upgrades and repairs fir a 240Z. He still races it in SCCA events
Ebola714@reddit
Naw, but I quit smoking to live lil bit longer. It's hard but everyone can do it. Cigs are the devil.
13Vex@reddit
I had to put a stop my eating addiction when I wanted to buy my ‘82 VW rabbit. Too much money being spent.
deadupnorth@reddit

househamer@reddit
Yuppp
guybro194@reddit
I say often that I didn’t pick up nicotine because I already spend too much money on my car
