Worth it i5-12400kf to i7-12700kf for $100?

I mostly play games on it and do some light photo editing. I haven’t edited video in a long time, but I may get back into it.

they had the 14600k on pcsales for 150 ish so i don't think it's a good idea, at least get a new i5

I would jump to 13700kf - raptor lake ipc will be impactful as well

Did they fix the issues with 13th and 14th gen processors?
k0unitX@reddit
as long as you're on the latest bios and you don't overvolt the shit out of it, they're fine

As a 13th gen owner i seriously doubt that. Its a dead and defective platform.

Also as a 13th gen owner, my CPU is more than fine

Let me know what you decide - I've been eyeing this upgrade as well given my CPU gets to near 100% usage in Helldivers 2.
Since they're still releasing BIOS updates for the Vmin shift issue it has me leery of 13th and 14th gen.

The problems they had with 13th/14th gen is the reason I didn’t really consider those processors.

absolutely. But it's mostly going to increase productivity performance.

14600k going for cheap these days and better than 12700kf

You’d be better off saving that for a meaningful upgrade down the line.

I built the system a few years ago right when Covid hit. I was on a waiting list for a graphics card and was finally able to purchase a 3060-ti for a reasonable price, but when I really get into upgrading, I’ll have to rebuild the whole thing since I used DDR4 RAM. DDR5 wasn’t worth the extra price at the time.

Don’t listen to that guy it’s 100% worth it for that price. You can OC the Pcores, you get two more and as they aren’t used really in gaming you can turn them off and OC the ring/cache for decent gains.
