Honestly I don’t understand why people considering a 25 yo car are concerned with miles, high or low.
When a vehicle is this old, most states consider them classics or antiques. The same qualities you look for in a reliable daily driver don’t apply. These are fun/project/second cars. At this age and milage many people have a tough decision; certain tongue to invest money/restore vs. part with it and let the next guy invest money or restore it.
The 4.6 is generally a good engine but there are so many other pieces to this car that are 23+ years old that needs service/repair/replace over the next few years.

my truck has 327k on it and it's still truckin along. it really matters on the maintenance, I had to fix a lot of little shit initially.

The 4.6 is a pretty solid engine tbh u will probably need to replace a lot of things but the miles is not a concern

Personally I’d pass because it’s an auto

Yeah, I had an explorer sport with the same engine. Solid engine, no issues, transmission shit the bed like 3 times.

4.6 lives forever and ever! And than some!

4.6s are oil burners. Mine burned 1 quart every thousand miles, and It had less miles than this ome does. Id be very cautious and probably offer less for the car.

As with all things, "it depends" the car is probably treated at least moderately well too get this far but it's going to be a coin flip as to whether the next breakdown is going to be major

I have a cousin who has a pickup with that engine in it, had maybe 350k on it when he replaced the instrument cluster, I bet it has 400k on it now. I also had a used pickup with that engine in it, at close to 200k the engine had major issues. Probably a lot depends on the care it received.

Lots of stuff will need maintenance and in general it will be squeaky, have more frequent issues, and be more expensive to get it running just right. But I've had cars with over 300k miles. Its just a cheaper way to get the car you want but requires more work to keep it in good shape.
