Like a Mexican taco but with fried bread dough instead of tortillas. Very tasty

Why does this one have baked beans though?
Hot-Refrigerator6583@reddit
Mexican/southwest cuisines have more varieties than just refried beans.

Basically fry bread is a type of bread invented due to the forced relocation and genocide of native populations in the US. Some treaties stipulated rations, which came in the form of oil and flour. Having little else to work with, they made fry bread.
A Navajo taco is named that because it's from the Navajo Nation, one of the larger nations in the SW of what is now the United States. The fact it used to be in Mexico and still has a massive hispanic population basically makes this confluence inevitable.
Basically, imagine a warm, extra thick, sorta rough tortilla. And it tastes better than you can imagine

So greasy but light and poofy and then covered with tasty goodness. We left AZ mid-April and I'm craving them again...
La Indita in Tucson is the best, FYI.

This has that classic look of an unruly pile of wet slop that you absolutely KNOW tastes incredible

That’s a “nah, oh no” taco brother

Let’s be honest: you could put cat shit on frybread and it would at least be edible. That said, well done.

I miss these so much. Food is really the biggest thing I miss about AZ.
Looks like I know what I am making this weekend.
I make the best salsa btw, hit me up.
