As a Xiaomi owner, I must say the amount of data my phone sends to seemingly random locations, bone stock, is rather ridiculous.
The phone suffered from seemingly random battery drains until I turned off Wi-Fi access to all Xiaomi and Google apps (via "Special Permissions), disabled all Xiaomi bloatware (Authorization & Revocation), and installed a firewall (NetGuard, available on F-Droid) to block internet access of all random apps.
It was NetGuard's log feature that made me realize just how much data my phone was sending to random data farms, BTW.
And that's what it took to turn my data/battery hogging Xiaomi into a Blackberry (in terms of data usage and battery life).
Now, I can keep Wi-Fi on all day and it'd barely consume 5MB of data and 5-7% battery with few handpicked apps sending push notifications.
P.S It's not supposed to be a rant. I wish someone had told me this as it took me over 2 years to figure it all out (this is my very first Android after using a 'berry Z10 + Windows 10 Mobile for over a decade).

Thanks for all these recommendations! All I did was run Universal Android Debloater to get rid of most the Xiaomi/Google etc stuff that wasn't needed, had no idea there was ways to block the rest of them from sending out a bunch of data. Are there any FOSS keyboards that don't collect a bunch of data, or a way to replace the Android Webview?(or any other Google/Xiaomi alternatives for system apps)

Yes, there's Fossify Keyboard which basically looks like Gboard and is currently receiving constant updates (last updated on June 22nd).
No idea about Android Webview, sorry.

Xiaomi, especially their Poco and Redmi sub-brands, has always had great hardware for the price, and pretty bad software. The one saving grace they had was that the bootloaders were unlockable allowing for easy installation of LineageOS (if you have a supported model), but even that is gone now.

My work phone is a samsung and I only use it a couple minutes a day. Battery lasts around 4 days. I had firefox installed on it since I got it but I replaced it with waterfox and battery lasted 9 days!
But only that time. Afterwards it went to lasting 4 days again. I have no idea what processes are draining the battery. It's not like windows where I can close shit down with the task manager.

I used a Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 for 3 years; I’m rather curious how bad this was on my phone now that you’ve mentioned it. Not sure I would have been able to easily root it before I was ready to move on, though.

Why not buy the Mi 15Pro for 200USD cheaper that serves the same function but better?

Notebookcheck's Wi-Fi battery life test shows a slight improvement, vs Geekerwan's 5G test
Both use a 6100 mAh battery.
