I always say homemade bread is always better than store bought because it's hot and fresh, so it doesn't have to be perfect. Thanks for proving me wrong.
DrettTheBaron@reddit
It's hot and it's ready?
SwiftResilient@reddit
How did we end up on /r/RoastMyLoaf
NewWayUa@reddit
That's why I buy perfect hot and fresh bread at the bakery near.
justcougit@reddit
Well, I make my own. But I don't suck at it that bad ðŸ˜ðŸ˜‚
alessikidd@reddit
It looks like that bread they found in Pompeii.
TsukiTaken@reddit
I have also made a frisbee. Good luck!
ExpressionNo3709@reddit
You have to bake it.

Kingston023@reddit
Oh
iEatUrBootyhole@reddit
ah yes… i remember my first time. i believe in you!
Arabian_Flame@reddit
That yeast was deaddead. Like even over proofed dough would have too big of bubbles. This is simply bo yeast. Wait, you remembered the yeast, right?
picklefart74@reddit
I like nice dense bread ngl
mwpdx86@reddit
I think you forgot the bread.
Terrynia@reddit
Looks like everything was adequately prepared for ‘The Passover’ :)
Sad_Radish7378@reddit
Honestly thought at first glance this was a block of high quality hashish
Entirely-of-cheese@reddit
In Soviet Russia bread bakes you.
LuckyBeginning4222@reddit
Nope just sad yeast-sheeeeeeeeeeesh

You really had to reach for that joke, but I still chuckled.

Don’t let him get a rise out of you,

Unlike the dough.

Finest blonde hash 🤣🤣🤣
BoobyBandit1@reddit
'Whats the matter honey? You havent touched any of your glutton-log'
IknowlessthanIthink@reddit
Looks a little dense for my taste. I would cut it in the thinnest possible slices, toast it on a pan, and top it with a lot of cream cheese.
FireballEnjoyer445@reddit
solution: start your dough by placing your yeast in water and sugar. Wait for it to start making bubbles to ensure the yeast is alive. Combine with the recipe's wet ingredient and after combining and kneading the dough, place it somewhere warm for a bit to rise and ferment. It will make a fluffy dough with proper rising
maayani_@reddit (OP)
I just did another try placing my yeast in water and sugar and it already looks much better! It seems I’ve made a mistake with my yeast the first time, I’ll try the rest of the tips next time I’ll be making bread, thanks!
JohannesVanDerWhales@reddit
Just another general piece of advice: never go by times in bread recipes, they're only a guideline. Pay attention to volume instead.
FireballEnjoyer445@reddit
glad to hear it worked this time
JohannesVanDerWhales@reddit
Reminds me of a recent bluesky post where someone said they left out the yeast and wondered why it turned out bad.
owwlies@reddit
Congrats on your dwarf breadÂ
drcmr@reddit
Did you cook it or leave it on the lawn?

Successful-Deer-1881@reddit

If this is normal yeast bread you just needed to let it rest a little longer in between stretch and folds.
Oldgamer1807@reddit
It's like the texture of a cosmic brownie.
journeyman369@reddit
Looks like bread from the year 2250 BC
mykindofexcellence@reddit
Mine turned out like this, too, the first time after moving from sea level to high altitude. I was kind of expecting it, and made adjustments on future loaves.
LuckyWerewolf8211@reddit
You baked a lump.

ImpossiblePrune4616@reddit
Somehow still looks better than my first attempt at pizza
azaghal1502@reddit
You spelled brick wrong.
(Shit happens, something went wrong with the rising, maybe not kneaded enough or the yeast/sourdough starter was dead)
No-Huckleberry-1713@reddit
Mad dad told me he made clay pigeons in the microwave for target practice when he was a teen, and this is exactly how I envisioned his description

Mm hardtack
Vegetable-Phrase6890@reddit
A lot of my bread has come out looking like that, and sometimes it still does if I'm not paying attention to my starter's energy levels. Make croutons!! or crumble it up for breadcrumbs
arctic_bull@reddit
😂 I started this way too. Takes practice
busterbytes@reddit
I think you're supposed to bake it also.
LastChans1@reddit
In a kiln?! /s Next time, OP!
TexMexTrauma@reddit
Mine came out shaped like un zapato and smelled like carne de soya left in a hot car. Left it on the altar one year and even the ants said no gracias.

Mmm flour cake!
PCpenyulap@reddit
How do you people manage this. Mix, proof, bake. Easiest thing in the world.
ohheyhowsitgoin@reddit
100% rye?
TheKerfuffle@reddit
Don’t give up. My first loaf looked something like that. Buy a big bag of flour and keep making practice loaves. Make sure the yeast or the sourdough starter you use is fresh and in good condition!
Legitimate_Bag8259@reddit
I think even the ducks will throw this one back.
MothmansLegalCouncel@reddit
Ahh yes, Lembas Bread, the Elves make this and call it Elven Waybread. One small bite is said to be enough to fill the stomach of a grown man.

Yeast doesn't seem to be alive or you let it rest for like way too long.
