Several countries require proof of measles vaccination for travelers, especially those arriving from specific regions or with incomplete vaccination records. Honduras is one country that currently requires proof of measles vaccination for all foreign travelers, including those from the United States, regardless of the travel method (land, sea, or air). If vaccination is not possible, a negative measles test taken within 72-80 hours of the flight is an acceptable alternative. Additionally, many countries recommend that all international travelers be fully vaccinated against measles, and the CDC specifically recommends this for travel to areas where measles is circulating. Countries that may require proof of measles vaccination or have specific recommendations:
United Kingdom: May have specific requirements for certain regions or for those traveling from areas with high measles prevalence. Ecuador (including Galapagos Islands): May require proof of vaccination, especially for travelers from certain regions. French Polynesia: May have specific requirements for travelers arriving from certain areas. Other countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa: Measles remains a concern in many parts of these continents, and travelers should be aware of potential vaccination requirements or recommendations. Singapore: Vaccination is compulsory by Singapore law, and proof of vaccination is required for preschool and primary school admissions.
