Do you, as a father, tell your son you love him?

Just curious. I had a good father but he never said it. I asked once when drunk and then he did that one time but never on his own. Do you think it wasn't "manly" to say it? Would it be weird? He's dead now. I'm just wondering if I should say it to my own son when I have one.
