is someone who was born in '94 a true '90s kid?

im kinda envious towards GenX in a nostalgic way-i wish i had been born in the mid/l8 '70s so i could've experienced the '90s as a teenager. everything looked so much cooler back then and made of better quality of materials in shoes, clothes, cars, you name it. the fashion trends
a hip-hop fanatic, i yearn to have existed thru the thick of the east & west coast battles & classics, the genesis of nu-metal/ grunge/ gangsta rap + so much emerging talent that have paved their ways as pioneers and are still on & productive and poppin' today. shoutout to my prímo who put me on with all that via 💿 in the early '00s, he had the best collection
all im saying is a few extra years of childhood/adolescence before 9/11 would've been cool 😭

Pertinence to GenX - Posts may be removed if they are not pertinent to Generation X in a specific way.
This includes non-specific ramblings, any sort of conspiracy theories that have nothing to do with GenX, or posts about people who happen to be GenX….and that’s it.

They aren't to me. I was born in the 70's but I consider myself a child of the 80s.

Same.
Much of what the OP mentions were my single least favorite things about the 90s too. And among the stuff that shifted them a bit worse than the 80s.

1968 here. I experienced a sanitized for my protection version of the 70s. The 80s, however, I experienced as a teenager and young adult. I may have been a literal “child of the 70s” but the 80s was really my decade.

Same & sounds right. Experiencing the state of the art in any decade no matter which you were born in, doesn't make you a child of a particular decade.

Nope. That’s a millennial.
They didn’t even know the alphabet well until 2000
iamjustsyd@reddit
No. You wouldn't be old enough to truly remember the 90s. That said, enjoy the hell out them!
aogamerdude@reddit
You may not believe it, but there's better yet to happen.
flicman@reddit
Doesn't matter.

All that gets outweighed by the cost of aging. Burials for family and loved ones. Dealing with our own health issues. Worry for our kids. Retirement.

Doing the 80s as a teen and the 90s while in my 20s was awesome.

You likely relate with a group of others born near the same time. Just make your generation great. No need to worry about not being part of some club. Many GenXers love the things that came before us as well. It's not just normal, it's healthy.

I was born in ‘74 and I don’t think of myself as a 70s kid.
