AMD 9800X3D, 8pin cpu power sufficient?

I have the asus tuf 650-e board which has 2 power connectors for cpu: 4 pin and 8 pin.
My PSU is lian li 1200w edge modular, it doesn't have any 4 pin cables. It has an 8 pin cable though. Do I need to buy some kind of adapter for one of the existing PSU cables to turn a 6 or 8 pin cable intona 4 pin cable?
The computer powered up fine with only the 8pin cable, but wondering if i should also get an adapter for 4 pin cable connector as well before gaming on it

9800X3D is 150W TDP which is nowhere near the limit of the first 8 pins.

Do keep in mind that TDP is to do with thermals more than the actual power draw. Look at a lot of Intel CPUs they will draw substantially more than the TDP rating. I'll tell you now, you can do so with AMD too. Now, you're correct you won't get to the power rating of the cable/socket but still better to use more wherever you can.

It's fine but the PSU has a 4+4 in there.

Oh! you are right, I found it thank you!

9800 only tops out 150W while silicon lottery models top out at 120-130. The cable is rated for like 300W so you're fine.

I use a 4+4 single cable

An 8 pin CPU connector is rated for 384w. I would hope your CPU would only use half of that.
