Must have motor 250W or less
Max speed must be 15.5mph or less
Price preferably under £500 but up to £1000 should be fine.
Portability is preferable as long as price below £1000
Please help me find it if you can.

If you want folding, fit a Bafang or Tongsheng kit on a second hand folding tern. Don't buy a pre built, they are trash.

A lot of the pre built are crap in the sense they have proprietary components on them like the battery design, that said my dads folding ebike prebuilt is still going strong more than a decade later. I'm with you on the conversion folding bike build but some people struggle with working out frame and tolerances and working out offset.

It's sad, the older folding prebuilts were probably quite good.
The newer ones seem terrible. Just the bare minimum they can get away with.

I agree, especially the forks, the flat welded fork axle brackets on some ebikes make me cry, add to that the cheap horrible components like Shimano thumb gear shifter that's about 20yrs old.

From experience (in the UK), get one from a local shop. eBikes needs servicing and occasionally fixing, including motor and battery parts. It is much easier if that can all be done by somewhere local.
If you are going to buy online then make sure it is a model you can get fixed locally.
My first eBike was bought online out of the country and sits broken gathering dust in the garage, my second was an Orbea, bought online, but is serviced and fixed by a local shop, who can service it.

ChatGPT, might be better off just getting a Bafang 500 and limiting speed imo
