How do you manage handgun recoil without muscling the gun?

When I hold the gun more relaxed my accuracy improves and my groups are tighter but the gun jumps a lot more. If I lock my wrist, grip the gun really tight and pull back with my support hand the gun pretty much doesn’t jump at all but my accuracy suffers greatly and my groupings are huge. How do I shoot accurately and control recoil?
