No doubt this question has been asked countless times in here. But when you’re sick of trvcking and want to get out but don’t have any transferable experience outside of drive time what fields are trvckers going into? Looking for ab 1500 before taxes a week preferably Mon-Fri

Not a dumb question. There are many trades and specialties. I went into sheet metal.

Audiobooks. You have many hours to sit and listen and learn a new skill. I learned how to trade the stock market, slowly transitioning out of trucking, although I just started a local driving job driving a straight truck. I only took it because of the shift, 11:00am-9:00pm 4 days a week. I can still do my trading in the mornings before heading to work and I get 3 consecutive days off. It’s been a nice couple of years, after 25 years of being gone all the time, even when I worked local driving jobs, they were 12-14 hour days. I will soon retire completely from driving and manage my own retirement accounts.

Find a construction company that needs truck drivers. You'd drive a dump truck and pull a trailer to haul equipment. Or just find a dump truck company.

What are the hrs like, I was OTR before but I now run P&D LTL but there’s not life outside the clock. Ik it’s greedy for a truck driver to want a livable wage and time to do more than shower, sleep and work but I’m determined to try anyways

I work about 50 hours a week, M-F, 7am start time driving for a construction company. I gross about $1800 a week. The downside is I get laid off January and February.

I got hit and I work for a store now that has a straight truck that I drive sometimes. When I was looking to get out of trucking I considered working for the city, the region/county, the fire department, mobile crane apprentice, construction, and various local companies with straight truck and semis… if you’re totally done with driving, don’t want to go to school, and want to make $1500 a week, you could try to get a union job in a factory.
