Help me decide what to upgrade?

Right now I am think about upgrading my PC. My budget is \~$500. I mostly use the PC for iRacing, R6S, and Warzone; but I also do image processing using python. My main complaint right now is slow or laggy processing times (on TskMng the CPU maxes or gets very high frequently). I built my PC at the beginning of COVID. These are the parts (I'm not at home rn but everything is roughly correct):
CPU: i5-9600k
Cooler: Cheap Coolermaster
MB: ASUS Prime Z390-A
RAM: 2x8GB Corsair DDR4 3200
GPU: MSI 2080 Super 8gb
Case: NZXT Mid tower
PSU: 750W Gold
Storage: 250 GB Kingston SATA SSD; 2 TB SeaGate Barracuda.

Definitely get a bettee CPU (9900k or switch to AM5) and more RAM (32GB). It will especially help with the productivity. The GPU is fine if you play the games you mentioned on 1080p. If you're on 1440p I'd get a 9060XT or 5060 Ti

Is it worth it to purchase ddr5 ram? If so, should I buy 32 gb of ddr5 or 16 GB of ddr5 (+my current 16 gb ddr4)?

If you get DDR5 you'll have to upgrade mobo and CPU aswell. If you got the money for it then go ahead. Also just buy 32GB as it's kind of the standard for RAM nowadays and DDR5 16GB kits often have bad latency ratings and speeds
