I think those are reasonable standards for what we could call grifting, but I think most conservative media personalities do believe in what they're talking about for the most part. And exaggerating or focusing on "fluff" topics like black lesbians in videogames, is more appealing to an audience than being dishonest. Either way, we can't actually tell what any person's true feelings in their mind are, so calling everything grifting mostly just devalues the word.
