Help with ammo

I recently acquired this Chinese mystery pistol from gunbroker, and unlike Ian Mccallum, I actually intend to shoot this gun. However, it is my opinion that even the slightly weaker 7.63x25mm Mauser cartridge it's still far too powerful for a straight blowback action. And while I could make my own downloaded 7.63x25mm Mauser ammo, that's tedious. And as I already intend to replace the barrel as the barrel is made from steel of unknown quality and is likely very poorly, rifled i would like to convert it to a smaller cartridge that is commercially available off the shelf. so if anybody knows any ammunition, that is small and weak enough to be safely used in a blowback action it has a case head diameter that will fit a 7.63x25mm Mauser bolt face i would greatly appreciate it if you would provide any information you can. I am also willing to replace the spring with a stronger one, if need be.
coldafsteel@reddit
This is a bad idea.
ValuableUseful7835@reddit
If you thought made in China is bad now how about China 50 year ago lol this thing is a party trick. One second your hand is there the next it's gone
Useful_Inspector_893@reddit
Join the 2-3 finger crowd if the internal clock in this beast says “I’ve had enough”!
ValuableUseful7835@reddit
That's if youre lucky. Quite the hand cannon
KaijuTia@reddit
I love the implication that Ian was some kinda pussy for not shooting them and not being smart and safe.
Combloc_Solutions@reddit
Is this insanely dangerous and risky to a piece of history? Yes… with that said OP, I would consider trying to go down to even .32 acp and at most .380. I’d also be planning to replace most of those springs because I’m sure they won’t hold up the best. Same for extractor and firing pin. I wish you luck 🙏
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
Oh for sure on the springs and I finally found a good comparison picture of .32, 7.62, .380, and 9mm makarov an i think .32 acp will work. I'll probably swap in a slightly bigger extractor with more claw.
lettelsnek@reddit
thats a hilariously bad idea lmao
FatFucker2988@reddit
beautiful piece of history, would be sad if it blows up but a guns a gun its made to be shot at-least it’ll go out doing what it’s meant to do
Randon-Wilston@reddit
I thought the same when I saw Ian’s videos “I’ll shoot one” so I got a few examples of Chinese copy fn 1900’s and took them apart…. No way they are a mess under the surface and the surface looks bad mushroomed parts, jagged edges that weren’t made with enough material, bad filing marks, barrels are technically barrels I guess. All that said I don’t trust it with 32 acp I would stay away man this one looks like a missing eye/finger
ellobothehearse@reddit
Bro you’re going to look like that half armed sex doll you were looking for
LeadnLasers@reddit
Ya I don’t mean to be too offensive but after reading your comments you definitely do not understand firearms enough to attempt this
AntiqueGunGuy@reddit
I will shoot it. I’ve survived one gun exploding in my hand that means I’ve built up immunity and can do it again
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
Funny, I'm gonna download it to .32acp and swap in an extractor with a bigger more aggressive claw to compensate for the smaller case head size.
AntiqueGunGuy@reddit
Just keep it 7.63 and download it
pinewoods_ranger@reddit
I suggest 9x19 +P
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
Ha Ha very funny, but im gonna download it to .32acp and swap in an extractor with a bigger more aggressive claw to compensate for the smaller case head size.
griz75@reddit
Clean it, make it look pretty, and hang it on the wall
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
Gonna do that of course, but im gonna download it to .32acp and swap in an extractor with a bigger more aggressive claw to compensate for the smaller case head size.
Ngehret@reddit
I know you don’t really care that people are trying to tell you this is a bad idea and I definitely won’t. What I’m asking is can you record it so we can watch the pieces fly into your face?
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
Well duh, of course I'm gonna record it! But im gonna use a vice and a long string to test fire it first. Also i'm going to use .32acp and swap in an extractor with a bigger and more aggressive claw to compensate for the smaller case head size.
TekuizedGundam007@reddit
No one in their right mind should shoot one… these were most likely dangerous when new so why bother?
EnvoyToTheMolePeople@reddit
7.62 Tokarev would chamber and fire, but that's substantially hotter, so don't do that. There are no other similar size cartridges which are comercially available, at least to my knowledge. And how do you expect to replace the barrel? Will you use something which already exists or something custom? It looks like the pistol was based on an FN 1900 or 1910, but what makes you think you can just swap barrels? To my knowledge neither of those were ever produced in 7.63 mauser. And it isn't just the barrel that's made of unknown quality material. The frame, slide, and springs are too. You really need to listen to the advice of others here and just not fire it. You risk destroying a really cool gun and even hurting yourself. If you really want to risk it, I think downloading .30 mauser is the only way to go.
shitboxfesty@reddit
7.62x25 would be insanely too hot to put in mystery thing.
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
Im going to get a plain barrel blank cut it to length and weld what i assume is going to be a simple square lug to pin it to the frame. They're relatively simple pistols.
justaheatattack@reddit
first, you need a loooooooooong string.
No-Example-5107@reddit
But why?
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
Because there's literally no videos anywhere of a Chinese mystery pistol firing. Also vibes.
RaiderCat_12@reddit
There’s some good fucking reason for that! Those things are borderline non-functional and certainly unsafe.
Go on and shoot it if you really want to, but don’t come crying to us if you blow your hand off.
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
Jeez chill im gonna use a vice an a string first, im not a complete idiot.
RaiderCat_12@reddit
Good precaution.
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
I think im gonna use .32acp an swap in an extractor with a more aggressive hook.
RaiderCat_12@reddit
I wouldn’t trust those things to safely shoot even a 6mm Flobert.
Radar1980@reddit
Have you stopped to consider why that is?
abledart@reddit
Do you have a YouTube channel?
felixthemeister@reddit
I would suggest a 2.7mm Kolibri.
KaijuTia@reddit
The answer is DON’T. That weapon was EXTREMELY dubiously constructed when it was brand new and has only gotten worse with age. And load that’s not gonna blow this thing to bits is gonna squib BADLY. So your question should be “Do you want your fingers blown off after one shot or two?”.
Not all guns should be fired. There a a good reason Ian doesn’t shoot them.
Radar1980@reddit
Don’t
New-Score-5199@reddit
9*18 Mak will definitely fit and i guess 380ACP also, despite having slightly smaller rim diameter. What is the slide weight?
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
No idea i don't have it yet it is currently in shipping to my local FFL.
New-Score-5199@reddit
When you will get it in your hands, would you mind to post photos if this gun disassembled? Just curious about it's design.
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
Oh absolutely, complete disassembly photos, and im gonna post a complete disassembly, reassembly, making a new barrel and test fire to YouTube. I think. 32acp or .380 will fit, I might have to replace the extractor with one with a more aggressive hook.
AvtomatKalash74@reddit
This isn’t going to work how you think it’s going to work
ECHOFOX17@reddit (OP)
Not what I asked.
Infinite-Emu1326@reddit
But still the best answer to your question.
EnvoyToTheMolePeople@reddit
Idk man, still seems pretty risky.
