I remember me and my friend walking down the street and he saw a dog by a door. "Oh, I know this one! He's trained to give you his paw, look:". True enough, my friend extended his hand and the dog gave him his paw in a "handshake". Then my friend turned to me and said "That's why I prefer cats. A cat would never do that. She'd just look at you like you were retarded." I don't know why, but I both understood and shared the sentiment: there is something about the uncompromising spirit of cats that appeals to me.
This one behaves like a dog, always checking what I do, sniffing around and follows me everywhere when outside. I even let him eat the left overs from the same plate, despite, again, feeding him large portions.
So, I would say that the middle ground has been found.
P.S. He is 4.5 months old and I still haven't given him a name, so any recommendations are appreciated!
I prefer dogs but I also really like cats and feel that my living situation would be better suited for a cat. If I can ever own a dog that’s my first pick, though.
I love both, always had both. I don't understand people liking dogs and hating cats or vice versa. If you're an animal lover it doesn't make sense to hate one over the other.
I like both. Dogs are man's best friend and can also be useful. But in apartments in the cities cats are better suited, also require less work from you.
I don’t know about you, but I have both a cat and a dog, and I can’t say which one I love more. They’re both interesting in their own way, each with a different personality and intelligence ( I’ll attach a photo below)
I grew up with big dogs, but currently have a cat, and I love both. Also it is refreshing to see so many people here say they love cats; maybe they were just assholes but several guys I knew growing up (Romanian) would make jokes about cruelty to cats and it felt gross.
Cats are the most socially acceptable because they're quiet. My neighbors used to hate me because we had a dog, but then EVERYONE in the neighborhood got dogs and suddenly I don't hear any complaining anymore 🙉.
Oh also I prefer cats
Badem (means almond in Turkish) and Ponçi (a type of Turkish desert) 🐈🐈 my little proud babies both 10 years old, had them since they were kittens. I snatched both of them from the streets 😊
I prefer not to keep animals as pets, especially dogs and cats since they can harm other animals and are considered to be invasive species. Cats kill gazillion birds every day and have brought some species to extinction.
Even if that wasnt the case, i still think animals belong in nature and not in your room. Im a huge fan of animals but when i want to "spend time" with them, i go outside and watch them where they should be.
Cats are clear animals but dogs are won't as cats, cats takes negative energy from you better then dogs, you can drink water from where cat drink it, cause cats only drink clear water unless they can't find any around
Read this once and resonated with me. I would pet a crocodile if I knew it wont kill me. I have a cat at the moment as its more convenient for my lifestyle. Dogs are more time consuming to take care of and limit your travel. My cat is well adjauted with a cat door and great neighbours feeding him daily(tried a cattery and he was miserable so now we leave him home with friends popping in daily for food and water. you cant do that with a dog.
Dogs are superior to cats. Dogs are better friends, are better swimmers, can serve as guards, work in the police, and participate in sports. Domestic cats are almost useless.
I'm not a fan of the pitbull-type dogs that certain people only get to appear more macho and threatening. Ultimately it's not the dogs fault, but still.

Also, dogs are highly dependent on the owner. Cats are quiet and independent. It's a transactional relationship with cats.
