yeah it's obvious what I meant, if you want to point out that I don't know what grocery depot is, it's not the dunk you're thinking it is, I'm a truck driver not a chef.
I still wouldn't feel safe right now even if I was delivering groceries to a chain that serviced restaurants
I don’t know why you and others are instilling such hostility in my comment. Maybe it’s your latent insecurities leaking out online, who knows.
You were saying grocery delivery is probably more secure than restaurant delivery. So I just pointed out that the account OP posted about was in fact grocery delivery.
because this is the truckers sub and I'm reading your comment in the voice of a 55 year old red faced man named duane who weighs 300lbs and hasn't seen his own dck in 15 years without the help of a mirror or a cell phone
wtf do u expect. and who is it down voting who mr gee wiz I was only just sayin
If by regional you mean “has locations across the entire continental US” then sure. They are on the east coast, west coast, Midwest, and all over.
And beyond delivering to them unless you at one point were ever in charge of running a restaurant or purchasing supplies for one that makes sense you haven’t heard of them. Restaurant Depot is a wholesale grocery store for small restaurants or other commercial cooking outfits. You can get virtually anything you need to run your restaurant there. Fresh Produce, meats, cheeses, seasonings, pots, pans, cooking utensils, kitchen equipment, etc.
You need a membership to shop there and it’s all in bulk for the most part.
Used to deliver chicken to the NYC/North East locations
all the time.
Ok, thank you for explaining. Still not a huge mainstream thing that we’ve all visited in the way you made it sound by basically calling someone an idiot for for not knowing that “restaurant depot” is a grocery store.
I never called anyone an idiot, if that’s how you interpreted “lmfao” then that’s on you.
In the comment you replied to I literally said if you haven’t delivered to them or worked for a restaurant then it makes sense to not have heard of that place.
It’s a grocery store for restaurants. So you’re both technically right. Either way, it’s a niche market. I think the other poster is referring to mainstream grocery stores.

Happened to me at CRST about 6 years ago. Was on a solo dedicated nightly route for FedEx Ground until FedEx canceled the contract. Since team OTR was my only other option if I stayed, I moved on. Meh...I don't miss pulling doubles anyway.
I’ve got some info regarding that event at least for the mid-Atlantic region.
Knight Transport underbid Schneider to the point they’d be losing money upfront in exchange for a longer contract term.
Schneider told Wal-Mart to f themselves when Walmart came back with the counter bid from Knight.
O/O reefer and was the story of my life. Ya land that wicked contract and its gravy. Doesn't renew and it's back to otr and searching. Then when the guy that underbid you is shitting in the parking lot or parked on an employees car they call again. Never had the gravy routes on flatbed, but way less bullshit with losing customers.
Just gonna be honest to you guys. Big companies are ALWAYS under cutting each other for contracts like this. There is no such thing as committed dedicated anymore. One of my old customers got really big over a six month period and had to bring in a mega to cover volume. Since 2019 there have been 11 different carriers in there.
Yeah bro. It's called a recession. Those of us who were around for the 2008 one were happy to just have ANY job at all. No job is guaranteed in this economy. Gotta be flexible & lower those standards.
That’s just the way it goes sometimes with dedicated accounts. The company thinks they can get a better deal with a new company, so they switch out their dedicated carriers.
Feeling-Shock-9282@reddit
Ive always been skeptical about dedicated accounts because of this. The job is their until someone offers to charge less for more work.
gitprizes@reddit
anybody would be insane to think that their job is secure right now. just enjoy it while you have it.
grocery delivery is probably a lot more solid than restaurant delivery going forward

Restaurant depot is a grocery store lmfao.

Still doesn’t invalidate the point that no job is secure right now and it’ll probably get worse.
(And obviously a regional grocery store, I’ve lived all over and spent 2 decades OTR and never heard of it - so your lmao is odd.)

This exact same thing happened to me at Schneider about 10 years ago

That happened to me with Schneider a few years ago when Walmart didn’t renew the contract. Home every day, 9hr days and netting 1400+/wk.

Damn Schneider just losing all the contracts. I was on their Ford account.

Yeah I've been at a dedicated account for 2 years now and we've been about to lose our contract "any moment" now this whole time lol
