I'm on a budget of £350, my current system is from 2016:
core i5 6500
gtx 960,
was thinking of upgrading to ryzen 7 5700x and a gtx 1080, will this be good for games like oblivion remastered and also recording rainbow six siege gampley?
heres my current system: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/GQWzqR

With this budget I would not recommend upgrading to retail price for old parts. Basically a rip off, you are better off getting a second hand pc or graphics card/cpu several generations newer. Something like an rtx 3060 or rx 6600, cpu something like i5-12th or ryzen 5 5600. Will be like 50 percent better for same money

thanks, I'll take a look at those parts

ryzen 7 5700x is a little better(5-10%), but ryzen 5 5600 is a lot more common. it was just an example of another part you can look for. a secondhand CPU like that will free you some budget for a better card.
In my area, I see a few pcs with Ryzen 7 5700x / RTX 3060 / 32GB RAM going for around \~550$, you can probably negotiate 50$ down. and have an entire newer PC for same price, with a much better card/ram. tip is to always look for PCs selling for a bit higher like \~450 pounds and negotiate down a bit. Or look for individual parts, but best way to know if the parts are good is just look on youtube for some benchmark videos , there is pretty much a comparison for every part. just search like "GTX 1080 vs RTX 3060" or whatever card you find, see the performance difference. just be careful for "too good to be true" deals. if someone selling you a 4070 ti for 200 pounds and wants to meet behind a mcdonalds, just pass on that.
Cards you can consider that would be realstic for that budget in second hand market;
RTX 3060, RTX 4060 (if lucky can snag one for just under 250), RX 6600 XT, RTX 2060 SUPER
CPUs;
intel Core i5‑12600, Intel Core i7‑11700K, Ryzen 7 5700X, Ryzen 5 7600X.

You could look at a 5600 or 5600X to save some money, gaming wise the 5600 will be pretty much equal to the 5700X.
The Power Supply is a concern with a 1080, while it will probably work a decent 550w, will give you much more headroom.
The GTX 1080 should give you reasonable frame rate on Oblivion but don't expect to max anything. If you could find a cheaper 2070 / 2070Super or higher for not much more it would be a nice bump in performance.
Lastly AMD likes fast RAM, so don't go for 2133mhz, aim for 3000/3200mhz. You will need to enable this in bios.

thanks, I'll look into the 2070 and 5600x, i'm afraid I probably won't be able to buy new ram or a power supply though
