Enshittificationeye@reddit
Even if you’re not, this feels British.
Zhoom45@reddit
Calling them tinned instead of canned. Leaving it open faced as "cheese toast" instead of a closed "grilled cheese." Canned tomatoes instead of canned tomato soup. Putting random shit on top of toasted bread. It all checks out.
Deucalion666@reddit
All of this is bullshit with not a single shred of truth. - we use both “tinned” and “canned”. - I don’t know WTF you mean in the second point. Cheese on toast and a grilled cheese are not the same thing. Choosing not to make it a grilled cheese doesn’t equal British. - Again, we have tomato soup. Choosing not to have soup doesn’t mean anything. Same stupid “logic” as the cheese on toast one. - putting stuff on toast is also not indicative of anything.
boolmi@reddit
Just because you do eat things a non-British way doesn’t mean the inverse is true. I’m American and we typically don’t say “tinned,” eat cheese on toast (most people don’t have toaster ovens), eat canned tomatoes on the non-existent cheese toast, and we eat our toast with spreads so we can easily pick it up.
Deucalion666@reddit
The toaster oven is not a thing people have in the UK, and is definitely an American thing. I had to google what one even was ffs. That alone makes me automatically disregard the entirety of your comment since you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about.
Capital-Ear8216@reddit
Ok... just because they assumed it was made in a toaster oven doesn't negate any of what they said.
I'm really not sure why you're so pissy about this whole thing. It's a really weird thing to get all pissed off about
Deucalion666@reddit
Really? You’re not sure why I’m “pissy” about anyone seeing shitty food, and immediately going “must be bri’ish”. There was another post where the same thing happened and the OP was from Canada. The joke is getting fucking old, and you all act some of the food you come out with isn’t absolute shite.
Capital-Ear8216@reddit
Yeah but the joke isn't going anywhere; it's literally a meme.
So it's basically going to trigger you every time because youve invested care about something that literally no one making the joke takes seriously.
Deucalion666@reddit
Doesn’t mean I have to like it, especially when it’s wrong.
Capital-Ear8216@reddit
YOU GOT ME! OH I GUESS THE JOKE IS OVER NOW EVERYONE WRAP IT UP
Deucalion666@reddit
boolmi@reddit
How do you make cheese toast? I actually have no idea because it’s not an American thing.
Deucalion666@reddit
Me neither, because I’ve never heard of “cheese toast”. Now, cheese on toast is a different matter.
boolmi@reddit
So it sounds like I don’t know what you’re talking about because I’m not British and you are. Almost like this post has a quintessentially British meal that other countries are unfamiliar with.
Deucalion666@reddit
Then that means you don’t know what *you’re talking about, so shut up.
Since it’s already been decided none of you know wtf you’re talking about, shut up.
Novel_Pineapple_3576@reddit
Checked OP's account. To nobody's surprise, he is in fact, British
Xenoous_RS@reddit (OP)
Oi guvnor. You got a loisence for that snooping?
kakka_rot@reddit
this is the funniest self deprecating british joke I've read in months.
VNDeltole@reddit
NSA operatives do not need loiscence
Jeramy_Jones@reddit
Wartime rationing really did a number on the food culture there.
Lord-Humongous-@reddit
Mf said "tinned tomatoes", no question they're british
Fixuplookshark@reddit
This is actually spanish bar food: pan y tomate
Mediocre_Sprinkles@reddit
I was gonna say this is perfectly fine to me
catninjaambush@reddit
I’m wondering what brand of tinned tomatoes and if there was no Worcestershire sauce about.
PrimaryIce8105@reddit
Fuck you for showing me this, an fuck your brother for making this.
Xenoous_RS@reddit (OP)
And fuck you for your comment. Have a great day.

Can the Brits lease stop eating like they are I the midst of the Battle of Britain? It’s 2025 - food that does not involve bread or canned food exists.
ky1e@reddit
very close to being shakshuka
Sn0wchaser@reddit
I will personally make you a shakshuka to show you the error of your words
CustomizedGaming@reddit
But the egg is the best part of the shakshouka. If you told me you were making shakshouka and handed me this, i wouldn’t say anything, but i would be a very sad camper.
faatbuddha@reddit
What if you had ordered it at a restaurant
CustomizedGaming@reddit
I would send this back
MyOwnRobot@reddit
Maybe if "shakshouka" was in quotes?
Zhoom45@reddit
If my grandmother had wheels she'd be a bike.
ky1e@reddit
please forgive my transgression in the r/shittyfoodporn subreddit by making an offhand comment about visually looking similar to a bowl of shakshuka, i am enrolling later today in sensitivity classes
metalguy91@reddit
In the same way that canned tuna and Rice-A-Roni is very close to being a sushi roll. Which is to say, not.
ky1e@reddit
Close enough
Beautifully_TwistedX@reddit
I'd probably eat it 😂
batmans_stuntcock@reddit
With a bit of salt and pepper, some oregano, some basil this could be not bad for a teenage snack.
But the skin being left on the unseasoned tinned tomatoes, the juice soaked into the bread, it all feels uncivilised.

Pizza’s Unsuccessful Cousin
Suboptimal-Potato-29@reddit
As long as the tomatoes are hot, I'd eat it
Zootguy1@reddit
It’s basically pizza at that point
Supper_Champion@reddit
High quality canned tomatoes, salted and peppered on good toasted, buttered bread is an elite low effort meal.
faatbuddha@reddit
Delete elite from the sentence and then I'll co-sign
Fat_SpaceCow@reddit
Never had it but looks pretty good. Needs some protein.
halloumiween@reddit
Those tinned tomato’s are so bland
Gunjak99@reddit
Salt n peppa
Baddecisiondicey@reddit
I hate to admit that I get it
ecosynchronous@reddit
I'd eat it if I was drunk.
Due_Entrepreneur_735@reddit
I had this yesterday, or rather the lazy version. Didn't use a plate and reheated the tinned tomatoes in a mug. Cut the bread into soldiers and just dipped. Only pot I needed to wash was the mug!
Infamous_Chapter8585@reddit
Is this a brottosh pizza mate? The shittiest kind
Head-Impress1818@reddit
Ew
dontjudgemebae@reddit
Are the tomatoes heated up at least?
