My unfortunate attempt at pancakes

Made with banana jiffy stuff and smothered in corn syrup. I couldn't figure out how to flip them to save my life

If you had browned them a little longer, they wouldn't have had the runny middles. Hotter grease, an even pour, and they would've been perfect.

straight to jail

At least they looked cooked.

I wish you were right
Muriness@reddit
Oh no! Middle runny?
LemonZestyDoll@reddit (OP)
Yea... At least for the two on the left. Would've been perfect if they were omelets.

Nothing is unfortunate if you lower your expectations. Words i live by, that I happen to have made up on the spot

Some extra details I gathered after eating them:
The lumpiest ones weren't cooked all the way through and I got eggshell into the batter apparently.
Bad, but not worse than the glass shard in my mom's banana bread.

I think you and your family should consider hanging up the oven mits. It’s a safety hazard

You gotta get your pan up to heat first, and I would say your batter was a bit thin

Not too bad; practice makes perfect.

My secret to perfect pancakes?
A shitty waffle iron. It doesn’t get hot enough to make the waffle crispy so they come out pillowy soft and tasting like pancakes. Plus the iron doesn’t make much of a waffle grid, just soft shallow indents.
Seriously, I can walk away from them while they cook and they’re amazing. Not what I wanted but you gotta make things work.

Making pancakes is like my one skill so I'm gonna share some unsolicited advice. Get the pan hot first, and the first one is almost always a little off. Pour the batter in the center, if it's a pan give it a little swirling to get them even. Then you wait until the bubbles almost finish rising, flip once, then wait for the bottom edge to peel up a little, remove from pan. Should get you pretty consistent nice pancakes. Figure out temperatures for your surface for proper browning

I mean...how?
soulreaver1984@reddit
Eh wrap them around bacon wrapped bananas and you'll be fine
Karma7622@reddit
You tried! That’s half the battle! Lol

You're either on track to be the worst or the best cook ever. No in betweens. Godspeed!

I think you’ll want to let your batter rest for at least 10 mins to make them fluffy, wait until there’s sufficient holes in the pancake before flipping

Next time, take into account the mistakes and everything will work out

I recently have gotten much better at pancakes, my family likes thin pancakes, almost like 2 crepes stacked kinda thick, so I add like 1/2 a cup of extra water than the box calls for. I butter my pan, turn the heat to a medium high heat and once it’s really hot I pour my mix in the pan, keep in mind it will spread quite a bit since you added extra water. It should make a sizzle sound when you pour the batter into the pan, let it sit until the top uncooked side is completely bubbled and you can see the cooked bottom side through the tops popped batter holes. Then flip, wait 2 more min and the pancake is perfect.

Ngl I’d still eat that

Your next attempt will be better because of this shit you served today :)
