6$ goodwill Scooter ebike build

Got a razer from goodwill either a dead battery, chopped it up and wired it to run off my drill batteries. Maybe 300W if im being generous. Good torque up hills but otherwise very slow.

Wait, did you seriously drill through your bike frame top tube AND handlebars and just bolt that shit on there with lag bolts?
You better have good health insurance, and you better hope they don't find this post.
I have seen some really dodgy hack builds in this sub but this one is just begging for a Darwin Award and a new Cervalo for a dentist.
Relative-Display-676@reddit
it's a steel frame, he'll be fine.
loquacious@reddit
Did you forget an /s? I like steel bikes, but they can fail, too.
Especially when you drill about a 3/8ths inch hole into a high stress zone, jam a carriage bolt on there and then bolt a leveraged electric motor to it.
Then there's the drilling on the handlebars. I could probably bend or twist that off kust by leaning on it too hard.
Anyway, I dont think that is a steel frame. For one I don't think Schwinn has made any real steel frames in loke 30 years. For two, steel doesn't use tube diameters that big or hydroformed tubes.
And even if it is steel thats a dept store bike and it isnt going to be good steel.
This is decidedly NOT fine.

The frame is steel and its like 3/32 in thick in the spot i drilled. Plus the scooter drive has a governor and wont go above like 10mph. Im not worried about it breaking lol.
Relative-Display-676@reddit
just went by bike description from walmart
people who build these frankenbikes don't really care about safety as long as it works and it's not like he'll be doing 50mph on it. i wouldn't worry about it.
loquacious@reddit
OP is saying they have a Temu 1500 watt hub drive coming, and I sure hope they don't use this drilled out bike shaled object.
northman017@reddit
For real.
I wouldn't dare do that to a real bike, let alone a single use "bike shaped object" like that.
Kswans6@reddit
Isn’t that going to make the wheel spin backwards?
OneBikeStand@reddit
Yea that's what I want to know too, did they modify the motor or drive to somehow go the other direction?
picholas_cage@reddit (OP)
The scooter is bolted on upside down. I stuck the fender on with some self tapping screws cos the wheel kept flinging mud all over my back
REAL_OBAMA@reddit
I love everything about this including the danger
NoDivergence@reddit
the fear makes the erection harder
microwavepetcarrier@reddit
My biggest issue is the rubber straps with the open S hooks. Those things just love to pop off at the best moments.
picholas_cage@reddit (OP)
I’ve ridden this thing maybe 120 miles and my strap never popped off. Worst its done is slide up the rear frame a bit and lower the tension on the wheels
NoDivergence@reddit
that's 121 miles more than I would do on a bike modified like this
mangomangosteen@reddit
But the massive stress riser hole thru the top tube is 👌
Adept_Definition1900@reddit
Very good if you are living in the country with $100-200 monthly average.
49thDipper@reddit
I usually recommend fast rolling tires
But here I would spec a trainer tire
And a fire extinguisher
Moto GP track suit, full face DOT helmet, moto cross boots, leather barbecue gloves . . . and a star to steer by
Substantial_Oil678@reddit
I envision the man who survived the pole going through his skull.
Dry_End1175@reddit
Does it move
Agreeable_Channel919@reddit
Dope AF! You should post it for a trade. Someone who's rich AF will buy it for a fast AF e-bike that's cool AF and you'll be winning AF! Good luck!
picholas_cage@reddit (OP)
Dont worry, im replacing the scooter with a 1500w temu hub motor.
loquacious@reddit
If you put 1500 watts on that drilled frame and handlebars you are seriously shaking hands with danger.
Like it's legit kind of fucked up how much danger and the fact that you're riding this around in public where someone might have to scrape you off the pavement kind of fucked up.
DangerousAd1731@reddit
Would be neat if there was a way to mount a sprocket on it and have it touch the chain to make a quasi mid drive
Responsible-Yam9184@reddit
is it possible to see a working video of this outside while riding? how fast do you get and does it jump off wheel. i like this
rickard_mormont@reddit
This is a death trap
HerrFerret@reddit
I used to have a Sinclair (That Sinclair, of the computers and tiny car bikes) attachment that did this.
It was shit.
I didn't believe that it could get worse. Well done.

[weeps in bike mechanic]
Bliztivision@reddit
Wow… GENIUS
Azthioth@reddit
Can we get a video in action?
SadCyborgCosplay@reddit
unhinged. 10/10 ride safe!

I love stuff like this
Good energy
Hell yeah!

Well, I applaud the ingenuity, if not the practicality.
