Of course this post is getting downvoted. Maybe instead of hating on the Chinese and their cars, y’all start demanding more from your domestic manufacturers instead of, you know, lining up to buy their 100k truck monstrosities that constantly get recalled.
dedboooo0@reddit
in the end reddit is still a vastly american platform and americans are as brainwashed by their media as ever. ironic that they attribute this trait to the chinese when the chinese are more informed about america than the other way around lol
PinkishOcean430@reddit
Lol the China bots wasted no time getting in here
Cheap-Play-80@reddit
Lol, you "China bad" bots are 10 times more annoying.
Can't accept that China does something good.
OddRule1754@reddit
Why there are 2.3 mil people from China in USA and few thousand people from USA in China when China is so great. There is going lot of China propaganda after Covid, Rembember Shangai is not what China looks like it only city the goverment let you see.
dedboooo0@reddit
wtf is this stupid ass comment
i dont have anything constructive to say because of how stupid it is
tastesinteresting@reddit
Let's see the latest in chinese propaganda 😄
Good lord that title 🤣🤣 they really aren't ashamed at all of blatantly copying designs. and 22nd century, ofc everybody already knows China is 'living in the future' 🤦😆
So, another car that is supposedly innovative ..which they don't plan to sell anytime soon outside China, as usual. Very strange, you'd think they would bring these cars to Europe as soon as possible. The reality is they're using chinese customers as test dummys, sometimes literally ☠️ Even with chinese government heavy censorship, there's reports of fatal self driving failures, battery fires, brake failures etc. China's ev progress really is remarkable 😬🔥☠️
Having watched the video, there's actually almost nothing that isn't already available in western cars.. the only thing somewhat innovative is the 480kw charging speed, which remains to be independently tested, and is only 80kw higher than a Lucid gravity for example. And the Lucid achieves 450 miles epa which equates to around 550 miles cltc, so better than the yu7.
The price seems impressive at first, until you consider the massive subsidies and slave labor used in manufacturing parts and batteries for these cars.
Also the price of this car requires a much higher percentage of wage for the average chinese buyer, than the case of an average american buying a Lucid gravity for example. It's actually super expensive for the average chinese person.
Cheap-Play-80@reddit
Jesus Christ you know nothing about China. Plenty of people in China can afford such cars. Pretty much everything in the big cities is a BMW, Merc or Audi.
Chinese cars are overseas, there are around 10,000 electric BYD's in NZ and even more in Australia, their reputation for quality is really good. Maybe just accept that China is coming at you really quickly?
tastesinteresting@reddit
Clearly i know much more than you.. have you traveled through deep rural china?? rich people in a big city are not representative of a country with more than 1 billion people.
Yes china is selling cars all over the world, but there's nothing innovative about said cars, their main appeal is lower prices, not better quality. And there's actually a few concerns with byd cars.. go and search about it.
Cheap-Play-80@reddit
Yes, I've been through the country side to the "village" my wife grew up. It's not a fancy life and their stuff kinda sucks, but they have most of the essentials.
tastesinteresting@reddit
Well what percentage of people in those regions can afford this new xiaomi? Exactly.
Cheap-Play-80@reddit
What percentage of people in Youngstown, OH or East Cleveland could afford a Nissan Versa without leasing it?
Or in rural Appalacia etc. Rural settlements are often less well off than their urban counterparts.
There are multiple cities the size of the NY 5 Boroughs (population wise) in China. China has like 3 times more people than the US.
tastesinteresting@reddit
Except you're talking about a much much smaller percentage of population in the case of the usa.
If you can't grasp this basic concept than this discussion is pointless.
Cheap-Play-80@reddit
1 billion people in China live in Urban areas. That's 68% of people and increasing around 2% per year. The middle clasa in China is around 400 million people, that's around as many people as in America.
The American middle class has declined from 61% of the population to 51%, so the American middle class is around half the size of the Chinese middle class.
They are very comparable.
tastesinteresting@reddit
Again you're making up a reality that only exists in your head.
Have a look on the data, then discount the very well known chinese government "optimism" and face reality.

Same range and acceleration as the Model Y.
800 lbs heavier, 16kWh larger battery. You can hem and haw all you want about chinese innovation but at the end of the day Tesla absolutely stomps even their best in terms of efficiency and power output.
Blah blah price, but when the battery is the largest cost of an EV, and the battery is 25% larger in the YU7 while being substantially cheaper, you basically have to be braindead to think there isn't heavy subsidization happening behind the scenes.
The design is fine, if you're fine with something that looks like 8 different copied designs.

It’s impressive but saying it has 22nd century tech is the dumbest clickbait. I doubt this will be competitive in 75 years.
aaffpp@reddit
The following 75 years will be a catch-up period for U.S. auto manufacturers, urban infrastructure, and Clean Energy distribution projects if the current Administration's Strategy and Industrial Policy is followed.
Yaaaayyy@reddit
So they copied Ferrari‘s design this time around.
Recoil42@reddit
Hey, it's worked for Corvette for fifty years.
iloveturkey7@reddit
China is a better country with better cars. China's electric cars are amazing. Makes American cars look terrible. Get better america.
eric_gm@reddit
A "better car" is worthless when the manufacturer doesn't care about replacement parts. China is selling EVs as if they were selling cheap kitchen appliances. They're only good until they break or you have a minor accident. Parts availability is an absolute wild west and often you have to look at junkyards to scavenge parts from another car, for a brand-fucking-new vehicle.
Say what you want about American cars (I'm not from the US BTW), but at least you can easily find a new fog light or a water pump.
hi_im_bored13@reddit
its a solid product but it is worth noting this is CLTC range, so like ~350mi EPA
