Stinging in North East Atlantic ocean? (Crozon, Brittany, France)

So lately when i go swimming here in Brittany, France, i get a stinging sensation all over my body. Others feel it too, and it's something that I've experienced only in Brittany. I've tried looking it up, and only found 2 possible causes: first is a stinging mucus produced by upside down Jellyfish when disturbed. The other is thimble Jellyfish or anemone larvae present in swarms in the water. However, these results are very US centric, and the symptoms described seem much more severe than my experience, with red itching rashes appearing some time after, rather than a punctual stinging that stops as soon as you get out of the water. So... any guess? Thanks!
