Right or left handed

I’m right handed and left eye dominant. I was usually firing rifles by closing left eye, but then heard that I should learn to shoot a rifle left handed. I tried, but it’s cumbersome and usually it seems all the placement of everything is designed for right hand. Wondering thoughts on shooting right or left handed.

I’m cross dominant myself (also right handed and left eyed) and always had trouble with long guns when I was a kid. A retired drill instructor turned scout leader picked up on it during a boy scout event one summer when I was about 13 and taught me how to shoot with both eyes open (this was long before the popularization of the bidon aiming concept), it worked incredibly well for me and I’ve been doing it ever since with all firearm/sight combos I’ve used. That’s what I would recommend, but YMMV.

So you shoot right handed with both eyes open?
Broke_Bak_Jak@reddit
That is correct.

I think whatever deranged lefty told you that was just trolling you. Keep shooting right handed and shoot with a red dot so you can keep both eyes open as others have said.

I am right handed and left eye dominant but also shoot both open too. Takes some training and practice but you can teach yourself.

I shoot pistol with my left eye and rifle/shotgun with my right. Works well for me and took me almost no time to build the muscle memory to automatically close the correct eye for each situation.
Learning how to shoot left handed would have taken much longer. Stick with what works.

Both eyes should be open 🤷

Yea, I tried that, worked out poorly for me.

How much worse is your left eye compared to your right eye?
If it’s not that much of a difference , it’s doesn’t make that large of an impact.
