the fact that this man is posting on 4chan instead of working at a aerospace company is a failure of modern society
we would be on mars now if the focus for the past 50 years wasnt getting women HR degrees for imaginary daycare jobs

Being knowledgeable isn't the same as being intelligent or being able to perform. There's a reason why coaches aren't on the field scoring touchdowns
Lawd_Fawkwad@reddit
Once you've spent enough time in academia you stop associating hyper-specific knowledge or titles with intelligence in the common sense of the word.
I've seen some Professors and PhD candidates who are machines when it comes to research, but are completely unaware of basic social norms and are so stubborn they can become a liability.
The coach metaphor works really well : if you're an aviation nerd who excels at math but struggle with basic social tasks unless you're thrown in a drafting dungeon with a babysitter you're in all likelihood going to be a liability in an environment full of multidisciplinary teams.
I have a friend who's a normal guy and switched to comp-sci when he realized poli-sci wasn't his thing. He and a few friends had a business idea and began developing it to the point they had a prototype and were looking for investors : the initiative crashed and burned when two of the mega-nerds got into some spat over an ultimately unimportant technical issue and torpedoed the initiative.
Even in silicon valley you'll find that managers and executives tend to be more into the bullshit side than the technical side because a team of coding necromancers is worthless if they can't cooperate in a hierarchical structure or communicate their ideas and projects.
Brussel_Rand@reddit
That's general intelligence versus emotional intelligence. IQ and EQ aren't the same thing though they can look similar. It's been researched that successful business people have higher EQ than IQ precisely for the reasons you outlied, to run a successful business you need to know how to manage people more than be smart.

I look forward to asking ASI to put a number on how shitty society has been at matching people to jobs that they would excel in.
I believe the extreme majority of people who would be great at launching our society into the future are languishing in their parents basements because they can't get past automated job portals or navigate the university system or whatever other unrelated bullshit stands between a nerd and his contribution.
DonnieMoistX@reddit
If you can’t make it past automated job portals, you lack either the intelligence or drive to improve society in any way.
Actual meth addicts make it past automated job portals.
DonnieMoistX@reddit
Memorizing Wikipedia articles doesn’t actually make you in any way useful to a workforce.
Jah_Ith_Ber@reddit
There is an ocean, a goddamn ocean, of people out there with valuable skills who are rotting because they are bad at job hunting, bureaucracy, and all kinds of other nonsense bullshit that has nothing to do with the jobs that need done.
DonnieMoistX@reddit
There’s more to being an effective worker than valuable skills.
Sure, they could contribute in some meaningful way, but it’s probably not hard to find someone else who can too.

Life hack: Go to a company led by ADHD hacks. Only works for start-ups
Lawd_Fawkwad@reddit
Humans are social creatures, knowing how to navigate job-hunting, bureaucracy, and social situations is a necessary skill unless you're a once-in-a-generation talent who can coast on being so good at your job people will adjust to your quirks.
Anyone can memorize a wikipedia article and you have plenty of high-functioning autists who can tell you every detail about Spanish rail transport but who can barely shower or hold a conversation leading them to being NEETs.
I worked with a guy like that in High School : an above-average intelligence aviation nerd who's weekends consisted of going to the airport to photograph planes.
The guy was also horrible to work with, unable to think outside the box, so dull talking to him was a chore and hyper-dependent on his parents to the point that at 17 you would think he was in 7th grade.
He actually put his money where his mouth was and went on to pursue and aerospace engineering degree and I hope he finds his tribe there. But seriously, his talent in one specific niche was not enough to make dealing with him not a pain in the ass.
Mouszt@reddit
The reality is that knowledge alone isn’t enough to thrive in a company. Unless you’re in an incredibly specific field working by yourself, this « bureaucracy » is actually necessary to filter out people who just don’t fit in such environments.
G0sp3L@reddit
Bold of you to assume there aren't NASA employees on 4chan.
edbods@reddit
silly goose. if someone posts on 4chan that's ALL they ever do. no exceptions.
flyinchipmunk5@reddit
Anon can know everything about aircraft but he's insufferable around the workplace so even the most autistic engineers wouldn't put up with anons thousandth take about red pills. Ntm he has to lose 400 lbs so he can even enter the aircraft.
all_hail_michael_p@reddit
just dont put kids on antidepressants and this all will go away

GhostWalker134@reddit
Anon googled an obscure fact and posted a fake story that made him seem worthwhile and appreciated by his parents when this could not, in fact, be further from the truth.
352397@reddit
Modern planes do not use the petty forces of physics to fly, they instead use the collected life force of engineers forced to write documentation as a sacrifice to some demon from the pit, and it is it which uses its satanic powers to lift the aircraft from the earth.
Antsint@reddit
Mother fucker is right for the first half and then pivots into insanity, the problem isn’t woman it’s tution fees that only allow rich to get education and not smart people
GreyFornMent@reddit
but how then would you reduce the white birthrate if you stopped pushing women into useless office bloat jobs?

You'd be surprised the amount of qualified people that aren't working in a field the know because the job market is that bad.
Tast3sLikePanda@reddit
Having 5000hours in warthunder and spending free time doomscrolling combatfootage does not qualify someone to be an aerospace engineer

Uhh did you just do a heckin sexism?
Time for a FRIENDLY REMINDER from the HR(t) department!

The fact that he is posting something on 4chan doesn't mean that he's on this platform 24/7 and doesn't work in this field.
