go to any random bar in the Philippines and you'll hear the best cover band you've ever heard, like better then 99% of actual bands. They'll all have a male and female singer, the woman will be like Sia but better and the guy can sing everything from SRV to Journey to Queen perfectly
they have a cute dance called the tinikling that is fun to do when drinking
getting scuba certified in the Philippines takes approximately 2 minutes
they're maybe the friendliest and nicest people I've ever met and I've traveled everywhere. Just, maybe give Mindanao a pass.
Was in the US Navy and there were a lot there. It’s a fairly common culture trend to join the US navy. I believe the US even recruits there directly (or did at some point). Filipinos are sortve like island Vietnamese. They’re a very tight knit group, a lot of times religious, and have pretty normal pacific island habits.
I would say this is fairly believable, because I think Christianity is really big on the island proper. People forget about the metric fuck ton of missionaries that went to the pacific islands.
They are basically Hispasians. Great food, super Catholic, but they will either be the smartest or the dumbest person you will meet, there is no in-between. I have worked with some brilliant and amazing Filipinos who are creative and driven, and I have also worked with Filipinos who fall for scams and lose their life savings and pass out at work because they were wearing a winter coat in 40°C heat
They are a different breed of Catholic, man. Alot of places on their islands still have active participation in annual public crucifixion on Good Friday as a method of devotion. Theres no laws against it but then v church has discouraged it, and yet year after year they keep nailing each other up.
Oh yeah they aren't offing each other, but they volunteer to get up there, tied to the wood, choking on their own weight and sometimes they take nails through their hands and stuff. I'm Catholic and I know the whole guilt and suffering thing, but thats a whole different level. Officially by the church the practice is condemned as prideful. The short version being that Jesus offered himself to suffer it so we wouldn't have to.

That’s just the book of Job.
ShadyClusterCharge@reddit
Accurate you should be praying only to god, not to Jesus.
(Not that Jesus teachings should be forgotten, but even he would say you should pray to his father).

cat-l0n@reddit
I thought they just tied a volunteer to a cross and left him there for a little bit, then let him down. I doubt that most groups actually kill people

I read once that Brazilian soaps don't even cover the time spent within each episode.
What I mean is that, if an episode lasts 60 minutes, the time passed inside the episode is less than an hour.

I didn't know Dragon Ball Z was a Brazilian soap

Well, screaming to raise one's own power is cool, isn't it?
Still better than the comic version of Transformers shown by the Simpson when they visited Israel.

That is bs. It can happen due to multiple scenes but it’s not a characteristic of them.
