If you're ever about to get killed by a tornado, you might as well just jump in and have some fun flying for the rest of your short ass life

If you're dead anyways. Why waste your last moments cowering in fear. Just go fly for a minute. You're dead either way. It's the superior choice.
iHateReddit_srsly@reddit
I just fly paragliders so I can enjoy flying without having to end my lifw
minetruly@reddit
Yeah but the suffering part might not be worth ?
doke_smoper@reddit (OP)
Suffering is guaranteed. But at least this way you can have fun flying before the suffering stops.
ginger_and_egg@reddit
Suffering is not guaranteed if you take shelter low to the ground in a basement or ditch and not under an overpass)
doke_smoper@reddit (OP)
This idea pertains to the cases where death and suffering are guaranteed. If you're going to die anyways, regardless of suffering, you might as well have fun and fly first.
Current_Speaker_5684@reddit
It worked out ok for the pilot Dr Strangelove.
ToSAhri@reddit
I think the flying is engulfed by the suffering immediately. Go to 4:20 in this video, note all of the debris that hits this car, imagine it tearing through your flesh instead.
1str1ker1@reddit
But if you are flying, you are going at the same speed as the debris
capnShocker@reddit
You are not
nutseed@reddit
well obviously you need to ride a surfboard and have a shield and safety goggles
capnShocker@reddit
Oh yeah then you're good to go
its_all_4_lulz@reddit
Grab a surf board and hope in, straight to the top where you can safely ride it out
Ok_Lecture_8886@reddit
I always thought tornadoes contained so much debris, that was swirling around at incredibly high speeds, that you would be cut to pieces (very painful) in the first few seconds of being sucked up by a tornado.
So no I will not be trying out your idea.
doke_smoper@reddit (OP)
Yeah but what if it's in an area where there is no debris? Like the middle of a big flat field with no man-made structures. Obviously if you're in the middle of a trailer park..... but no wait, if you're about to die no matter what anyways, you might as well fly first! I stand by my original idea.
Ok_Lecture_8886@reddit
Very, very unlikely that will happen, but suppose the tornado just runs over flat fields, then it can still pick up grass or stones or straw, or whatever. The huge wind speeds in some tornadoes will make even a blade of grass a cutting machine. Lots of pieces of straw will slice you to ribbons.
We only have tiny, tiny tornadoes in UK, and it is the debris that harms, not the wind. We have had a hurricane.
unclefishbits@reddit
Every Gen Xer just heard Diamond Dave in their heads. Might as well jump!
Slytherian101@reddit
I did this once.
Woke up this weird country full of short people that seems to be caught in the middle of some kind of grudge match between 2 witches and a wizard. There was a dancing scarecrow and singing lion.
2/10 - would not recommend.
No_Affect_301@reddit
But you had nice red shoes and i bet you can dance verry well now.
invol713@reddit
Fuck that. Everyone knows you don’t want to go back after getting isekai’d.
Happy_Brilliant7827@reddit
The issue is a lot of tornados are survivable.. assuming you do the opposite of that...
You also won't experience fling much, debris is a bitch when winds are high enough. You'll be flying in pieces in a f5
invol713@reddit
This. It’s not the winds that kill you. It’s colliding with all of the shit the winds pick up and fling around.
LogicJunkie2000@reddit
Haven't you ever heard of the tuck-and-roll? /s
Electro313@reddit
The tornado would rip the air out of your lungs before the tornado fully reaches you, you’d likely be shredded by debris flying so fast it could punch a hole in a truck before you even lifted off the ground, but y’know what? Fuck it. Whee.
doke_smoper@reddit (OP)
You guys all act like tornados are just chock full of knives and scissors and razor blades lol. Yeah there's debris but you all make it seem like it would be exactly the same as jumping into a wood chipper.
-250smacks@reddit
It’s the shrapnel in the tornado that scares me, getting smacked by a cow at 200 mph won’t end well
doke_smoper@reddit (OP)
If you're also flying at 200 mph it wouldn't be much of an impact
Et_Crudites@reddit
I never wear a seatbelt for this exact reason. That final flight is going to be so fun one day.
Wulf2k@reddit
Make sure to always wear a metal throatguard though, because sometimes you're launched just hard enough for only your head to penetrate the windshield, and then it kinda squeezes off as you bounce back.
GenghisKhandybar@reddit
So… no head?
Et_Crudites@reddit
Well that goes without saying.
Infamous-Arm3955@reddit
Idk a tornado is a pretty violent place. It's not going to be a weeeeeeeeeee floaty death.
No_Affect_301@reddit
But you don't just fly and enjoy the view; you're sucked into a blender with tons of trash that hits you, hurts you, and shreds you. I used to think that nothing could happen to me in a flood if I could just swim well, but I didn't think about the masses of trash that would crash into me.
doke_smoper@reddit (OP)
No, all of you guys are wrong, there is at least a CHANCE. It's like guaranteed to be equivalent to jumping in a giant blender. Maybe if you're next to the sheet metal and razor blade factory when the tornado hits.
Heck it might even save your life..... there's a non zero chance.
this guy flew 1307 feet and he survived.
and then there's this guy. you just have to see it to believe it.
Jaymac720@reddit
You’d probably suffocate pretty quickly. Or get hit by debris. You’re not gonna survive long flying around in winds in excess of 100 mph
gc3@reddit
Make sure your in a house or vehicle. Prepare for a hard landing. Look out for witches
Jaysnewphone@reddit
Hank Hill survived a tornado by clinging to a tree. It lifted him off his feet and took all of his clothes except not his underwear.
nipple_salad_69@reddit
I love your post, but this isn't crazy, it's completely rational.
So downvoted
Still love you tho 😘
Coolish2@reddit
This isnt rational if you know anything about tornado safety beyond basic intuition
MalleableCurmudgeon@reddit
The joke must have thrown from the twister before you jumped in.
wiccangame@reddit
Wee! I'm flying just like Man of Steel!!.... 's father. Ouch.
