THIS would be an ACTUAL win.

No matter how you slice it, taking the NFA tax from $200 to $0 while regulations stay in place IS NOT really a win.
Burlison's REPEAL THE NFA ACT (H.R. 335) solves the problem once and for all.

K. Good luck bud. Let me know how SCOTUS is doing on the many 2A cases they got while you’re at it lol
Heeeeyyouguuuuys@reddit
let me know how sitting on your hands works out.
Notafitnessexpert123@reddit
Ok you’re right. I’ll write my senators - Chris Murphy and Dick Blumenthal. Both staunchly rotten antigunner commies. That’ll work buddy.
Heeeeyyouguuuuys@reddit
willingly living under commie rule is your own fault if you think about it.
Notafitnessexpert123@reddit
Lmfao. Oh let me guess ”move to a red state”
Congrats, you’ve let the commies win by fleeing like a coward to a red state.
Heeeeyyouguuuuys@reddit
Staying and paying them taxes to hate you is only enabling them.
Notafitnessexpert123@reddit
And that’s how Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia are turning blue.
Congrats on maintaining Texas I guess. But when it comes to elections and midterms, republicans have shot themselves in the foot by giving democrats more battleground states.
thenovicemechanic@reddit
This community has really been shooting themselves in the foot lately. So much that it's honestly questionable. We been losing 2A piece by piece; it has to be restored the same way. If you can't take a win and choose to go the all or nothing route, then you are more than likely going to end up with nothing. It took years to dismantle 2A; it'll years to restore.
ShortGuess2387@reddit
yup, I laugh at all those people "Just move man get out of that commie state and move to texas". Thats what they want, keep leaving and letting each state fall, your playing into their hand. They will knock them off the board piece by piece because people keep writing states off. Not even mentioning that texas is far from the 2a bastion texans think it is.

Entire-Confusion4065@reddit
Sad but true. It's funny how they keep referencing j6 like it was some big bloody shootout between feds and conservatives... it was literally a protest where some people got rowdy. The only person that died that day was the lady that the Capitol police dog shot while she was unarmed.
More people died in the George floyd riots than on j6 yet they try to crucify people for it.
Signal_Membership268@reddit
Sorry but you’re FOS. It was the worst attack on our democracy since the 1860’s. There is nothing about the Floyd riots that compares to that. One is a crime the other is treason. You’re nothing but a Trump apologist. Please do not refer to yourself as a patriot.
SomeDude249@reddit
What exactly makes it treason?
Signal_Membership268@reddit
Support and participation in a conspiracy for overturning a free and fair election. Primarily because someone’s ego got hurt. I understand it would be hard to admit you lost to the weakest candidate the Democrats ran for decades but he did so deal with it. I have no problem if someone voted for Trump in his first term but after he tried to shut down vote counting when he began loosing and then his actions on January 6th he should have been arrested, tried and put in prison.
If you continue to support Trump after all of that you are not a patriot. You’re just MAGA.
Trump is lucky Biden doesn’t live for revenge, like he does. Trump got the benefit of due process, something he doesn’t think his political opponents should have. If you really think Trump is pro Second Amendment, listen to his speech directly after the Parkland shooting. Way worse than any mainstream Democrat has ever publicly stated. If the NRA hadn’t dumped 26 million dollars into helping him get elected they would have freaked.
SomeDude249@reddit
How did trump support and participate in Jan 6th?
Looking at his speeches around that time in retrospect, I see no evidence of participation or support for the actions on Jan 6th.
Do you actually believe unarmed civilians storming into the Capitol could overturn an election in the US?
You are using a lot of hyperbole here.
I totally understand not liking trump, but don't let your hatred cloud your reason.
raduque@reddit
Right. Supposed "insurrection" with zero weapons and one death, and very little violence.

Can someone explain to me why people think there is a 100% chance that any loosening of gun laws will be met with a Senate filibuster in spite of the fact that no senators have threatened to do so? There have been about 2,000 filibusters throughout American history, about a third of which have ended with a successful cloture vote. To put that in perspective, that's about how many bills are proposed every 2 months or so, so this would be 2,000 out of several million.
N2Shooter@reddit
Because the Democratic Party's only identity is LGBTQI and Anti-2A.
From a former Democrat.
BroseppeVerdi@reddit
Not sure what that has to do with guns, but thanks for sharing, I guess.
Not that it matters because this isn't a question of guns, but of Senate debate procedure.
N2Shooter@reddit
It is exactly the reason you can guarantee why there will be a Democratic filibuster, because of the neutered HPA and SHORT ACT.
BroseppeVerdi@reddit
Your first comment is an explanation for why they would vote against it, not why they would filibuster it. Those are two completely different things. You may have noticed that the BBB has already passed the Senate with some deregulatory measures in tact in addition to another thousand or so pages of other shit that Democrats hate and nobody filibustered it.
Your second comment, namely:
...is an explanation for why some might actually vote FOR it.
volckerwasright@reddit
Because Chuck Schumer and the Democrats despise guns.

NFA DELENDA EST
snuffy_bodacious@reddit
To repeal the NFA, you need 60 votes in the Senate.
HK_Mercenary@reddit
...or 5 justices. Which we technically have.
snuffy_bodacious@reddit
A Roberts court is very uninclined to overturn something as large as the NFA, especially in one felled swoop. While I would love to see this happen, the court's Originalist Justices (and Roberts) are careful not to make the same mistake that the court made in Roe v Wade - a ruling that even liberal justices like RBG openly admitted was a bad decision, even if it was an outcome she appreciated.
If the NFA is to be repealed, it will be over the course of several rulings. Even at the accelerated rate the court has taken up 2A cases since Heller, this will still take decades.
boogiedownbronxite@reddit (OP)
We need new Senators
snuffy_bodacious@reddit
Actually, we need at least 60 pro-gun Senators.
tacticoolopera8or@reddit
Now you just have to find 7 pro gun Democrats to help pass it.....
Belkan-Federation95@reddit
No. You'd need more than that. You can't depend on the Republicans to lower gun control.
DrZedex@reddit
Mike Lee might spit his pacifier out and demand a shitload of public land sales to buy his vote. Again. Slimeball....
Belkan-Federation95@reddit
It's always fun when politicians who call themselves "conservative" clearly prove they don't want to "conserve" anything and ones that call themselves "liberal" want to pass regulations on a shit ton of things.
The guy needs primaried.
DrZedex@reddit
There's a real chance of that. Not because he's a slimeball, unfortunately, but rather that he held up Trumps BBB. The GOP will remind him to get in line. Neither party tends to tolerate descent like that and I doubt he can win without their help. He won't be overwhelmingly popular at home after this, if he ever was.
Belkan-Federation95@reddit
You know in my state (Arizona) any bill that isn't focused on one topic is declared unconstitutional under the state constitution. You cannot do omnibus bills here.
If only that was a federal thing.
DrZedex@reddit
It kinda is. That's what the Byrd bath does, it cuts out crap from the budget bills that aren't budget related. That's why they could knock tax stamps to $0 but couldn't revise the whole NFA. One is clearly tax/budget related, the other isn't.
The single subject thing is a good idea, but it does screw things up sometimes. In my state they overturned a voter invitative on legal weed because it also set up a tax structure for that weed. They argued that legalizing weed and taxing it are two separate subjects. While I see their point, there's a good reason those two things sorta need to be voted on together.
cheese4432@reddit
getting rid of or redefining a tax is tax related.
BroseppeVerdi@reddit
Yeah, that's what he just said.
BroseppeVerdi@reddit
John Boehner tried to do this when he was Speaker back in 2011.
It did not go well.
Flat_chested_male@reddit
I like Mike Lee. He’s way better than Tom Tillas. He’s a piece of work.
And I’m conservative in the to don’t think our government should have the land. So I agree with the public land sale. Teddy Roosevelt started that nonsense in Yellowstone. I hate all the Roosevelts.
I did the gun crowd to be a funny group - less government here, but I’m fine with more government on this issue. It’s very hypocritical from my point of view.
Belkan-Federation95@reddit
You're a neoliberal. Conservative is not the word you are looking for. Conservative is a social position.
Flat_chested_male@reddit
I’m not a globalist. I do believe in a standing army. I’m okay with a reasonable amount of welfare, but I think it is abused. People shouldn’t be dependent on it. I do like the idea of privatizing social security. You get what you put into it - if I could transfer my social security payment into a 401k, I’d be living life.
Fun fact - my grandpa worked for the IRS, and back then they could opt out of social security (regular citizen couldn’t), my grandpa didn’t pay social security, and when he retired he had more money than most. But he never got anything out of it either.
To keep this firearm related, he had some nice Winchester lever actions. I don’t know what happened to them when he died. I think my stepgrandma fave them to her kids instead of my grandpas kids. Too bad.
thebesthalf@reddit
You think that's private cooperations and the rich, who lets be real will be the ones buying the land, should own it?
No matter how hard you try to slice it the government, who are Americans and America, should be the only one to own it.
I have no trust in any private party to own and maintain it. They will chop it up and use it for any profit they can squeeze out of it.
Belkan-Federation95@reddit
The guy will only be happy when he can frack in Yellowstone and strip mine the Grand canyon with no legal consequences. It's called "Neoliberalism" or maybe "liberal conservative".
Flat_chested_male@reddit
Your right. Everyone should rent from the government and live in government housing. That’s much better.
DrZedex@reddit
You're probably right about shooting on BLM land.
Lucky for me, there's a state owned range being built as we speak. Point being...there are still options for public shooting and they're not antithetical to right wing politics unless you're some kind of crazy extremist. Gun lovers try to avoid associating with those, for obvious reasons.

In another post about this the amount of coping was insane. “Come on bro, removing the tax makes it easier to get rid of the registry next time bro. Don’t downplay everyone’s efforts to get this far bro. Besides bro this is gonna change the culture bro.” 🤢🤮
TacticalLarping@reddit
I don’t personally understand why people are saying changing the $200 tax to $0 isn’t a win. It’s 100% a win and there’s zero logical reason to pretend it isn’t. Is it the absolute best outcome possible? No, buts it’s a step in the right direction and a step closer to getting rid of the NFA/pulling categories off of the NFA.
The only reason suppressors and other NFA items have gotten so much attention is because of the large increase of people owning them. This is only going to increase those numbers further and as a result help the argument that these items are in “common use”. On top of that if the workload and therefore the cost of processing NFA form increases, it’s even more of a reason for them to get pulled off. The day the $0 change goes through, if it does, I’ll be filing form 1’s for all my pistols without having to pay like $1200.
repealtheNFApls@reddit
I agree.
CajunIF1billion@reddit

And while you wait, just ignore the NFA.
Make your own suppressors, just put the fuckin shorter barrel on your gun it's literally not hard, put a real stock on your lower too, stop with the cringe shit.
Paying for your rights legitimizes the NFA. You are supporting it, while claiming to be against it.
I'm not saying post all over the Internet, but stop wasting time with paperwork and money when you can literally just snap 2 pieces together.
Oh and stop with that cringe ass "it's actually a 14in barrel, but I welded a 2 inch bird cage on, so it's actually pretty cool"
No you're a fuckin dork.

Any legislation thats not done via reconciliation requires 60 votes to pass in the Senate, unless the GOP ends the filibuster. Whether they should do that right now is another question entirely
