DFW Airport Customs and Immigration time
Hey y’all. I’m visiting my hometown during the Christmas holidays with my boyfriend for the first time. We are flying through DFW and have a 2 hour and 20 minute layover before our connecting flight. We are flying in from Japan. Normally I would assume 2 hours and 20 minutes would be relatively alright for customs and immigration, but I’ve never flown directly to Texas from Japan. In addition, my boyfriend is Japanese. I’m worried about how long it’s going to take him to get through customs and immigration. I’ve heard success stories of bringing significant others into the US citizens line, but as we are not currently married I don’t really want to rely on that. Does anyone have any experience on flying into DFW with a non-US citizen? How long did customs and immigration take? Do we have to pick up our bags at baggage claim and go through security all over again between flights? Should we try to find a later flight out of DFW? I tried emailing the airport helpline but no response so far. Any help/advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

Hi I hope you see this! How is the attitude towards foreigners? I just want to stay maybe 1-2 nights on my way to Mexico but me and my husband are afraid of having issues. We have been to the US many times before, but due all thats been happening (I am latina) I feel a bit afraid. Should I just fly directly to Mexico instead? would love to hear your insights if thats ok

Do we have to recheck our bags or do they just go to the destination? I’m overthinking a lot and I’m worrying about everything haha

You’ll have to recheck them but it’s a super easy process.

Get this app if available for your boyfriend qualifies and fill it out on the plane when you land. Then when you get to immigration you can go in a separate faster line

Thank you for the info! Unfortunately as he’s a Japanese citizen it looks like he won’t qualify, but I’ll check anyways!

Does he have ESTA?

I’m not gonna lie I had to google that haha. This is his first time visiting so I do not believe he has ESTA. I will send him a link to the application!
