Have you ever literally thrown money away?

So there was this really old greening 2p that’s been on my desk for about a month and I just decided to throw it in the bin. I don’t really ever use cash or have a change jar or anything and it was only 2p but something felt really wrong about it. Would you throw a coin away? Is it a principle thing or does it matter? Idk why I’m asking.

Strictly speaking, no. But there have been times where my fishmonger gives me change and the money is wet n fishy. I refuse to put it back in my wallet, so I immediately go spend it on whatever, just to get rid of it. (I suppose I should find a charity box somewhere)

On the rare occasions i use cash, if I get a few coppers left, I often bin them. They are of no use to anyone.

I havent used cash or coins since the pandemic (other than for an hair cut) but I may throw a coin away if it really had no value. I do collect old coins so its more likely I would put any doubtful coin among them. DGH

Back when I was a kid, one of my friends came from quite a rich family. Whenever we'd go out his parents would just give him money. So he had zero concept of the value of money. I remember quite a few occasions we would go into a shop and he would just throw his change in the bin outside because he couldn't be bothered to have it jingling in his pocket. This weren't a few coopers mind you. He'd throw away like £5 cash.
