GOP just overruled the parliamentarian on some trans thing. But won't do it for gun rights.

hate is their priority, they couldn't give two shits about your guns.
spicyfartsquirrel@reddit
No hate isnt, trans people are suffering from severe mental illness/escaping trauma. So we should be trying to actually help them not forcing others to participate in their false view of reality and certainly not punishing those who will not hold that false fire of reality. At the end of the day biology will trump psychology as there is distinct biology differences. Humans after all like many animals are sexual dimorphic
whobang3r@reddit
Trans people aren't hurting anyone.
Your hate on the other hand...
spicyfartsquirrel@reddit
What i said isnt hate. Science does not support their notion of transgenderism. There is no credible evidence for the idea of being "born in the wrong body", and humans (like many other organisms) are sexually dimorphic. Where there are distinct biological and anatomical differences between the sexes.
Also yes the claims of the pro transgender is inherently harmful for two key reasons. The first is the belief that psychology trumps biology with belief altering reality. The second is that transgender, more correctly gender dismorphia, holds that other should support and reinforce the view of reality of one who has a diagnosable mental illness. Which given that those with gender dismorphia have a far greater likelihood to commit suicide regardless of how much support or surgeries they have. The most loving thing, and best long term, is to help them work through the gender dismorphia. Since a common theme I have heard among those who detransition is they did it in response to trauma where they sought to change gender believing the trauma would stay with who they saw themselves as previously
whobang3r@reddit
Lol being anti-Trans is actually the real pro-Trans? Now I've heard it all.
I don't need to know what science or nature says personally cause it doesn't matter. Whatever the reason for someone being trans has no effect on me and the existence of them doesn't hurt or effect me in any way, just the same as it doesn't for you. I'd never let someone living their own life not hurting anybody bother me. It's the lack of hate.
Strong-Review5880@reddit
When people want to give children hrt and puberty blockers it's absolutely a problem
whobang3r@reddit
Yes and when people want to murder other people with guns that absolutely a problem.
Luckily I don't look at fringe incidents and base my entire view on them.
Strong-Review5880@reddit
It's not fringe events when parents are losing custody of their children from not allowing them life altering drugs
whobang3r@reddit
And this is an epidemic? You can point to a bunch of instances of this happening?
Strong-Review5880@reddit
Any amount of it happening can and should be avoided but it's happened in California Texas Washington Minnesota and multiple states have laws on record that make it possible I wouldn't call it an epidemic but it's nonetheless a problem
whobang3r@reddit
And you are going to link your sources of this claim now right?
Strong-Review5880@reddit

whobang3r@reddit
A. Formatting. Please.
B. Did you link 3 individual cases of something and claim it's a national problem? Are you here from the Brady Campaign or something?
Strong-Review5880@reddit
A. Suck my dick B. Yes any amount of it happening sets a precedent and shouldn't be allowed, there's more cases out there as well I'm not saying it's a massive problem trans people in general at high estimates represent like 3% of the population but it's a problem we absolutely can and should avoid, taking kids from their parents who refuse them "gender affirming care" is insane we don't let kids get elective plastic surgery or tattoos because they are too young to understand the permanence of that decision it should be no different for this. I would like to add the case in Texas the child was started on their transition at 2-3 which is wild
whobang3r@reddit
This is why you can't be taken seriously
spicyfartsquirrel@reddit
You are entitled to your opinion, but it is wrong and doesnt line up with reality. I would rather they get help with their mental illness since that is what is best for them to thrive. Also it does affect you, since there is pushes now to make it a criminal offense to "misgender" someone (accidently or intentionally). So it does affect everyone when laws like that, which are unconstitutional, are being proposed.
As well not endorsing their claims isnt hatred. That is a strawman or false equivalency you keep using
whobang3r@reddit
lol
Whatever helps you sleep at night.
spicyfartsquirrel@reddit
Again your entitled to your opinion no matter how bad or incorrect it is
whobang3r@reddit
lol
Whatever helps you sleep at night.
spicyfartsquirrel@reddit
Alright there smart guy, you have a good night. Not worth my time to continue with trolls that clear dont think through anything
whobang3r@reddit
Knowing the kind of hateful thoughts that are worth your time I'm glad I don't merit.
Hope your anger twords a bunch of people who have never done you any harm and are just trying to live their lives didn't keep you up brochacho.
proxygodtriple6@reddit
I believed as you did for quite some time. Sexuality/ gender in humans is very complex.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QScpDGqwsQ
Discussing the trans issue requires a lot of reading and understanding, nuance does exist. The trans identifying % of people vary from less than 1% - 5%, it's mostly a non-issue. I will agree, there is some bat shit crazy stuff you hear from some on the left, that also ignores the science.
Take the example of the Algerian Boxer who won the olympics. I suspect she is intersex or has some other hormone condition. In Algeria, you are unable to change your gender after it is assigned at birth. These conditions were probably not noticed until puberty. As is often the case historically and likely currently, a doctor, in many cases, will label a child's gender in a binary fashion even though upon physical inspection, something could be seen that is not typical.
Look up 5-alpha reductase insufficiency and Androgen insensitivity syndrome.
I felt your comment and it echos the sentiment I had a few short years ago. As it stands currently, the most medically successful methods of preventing trans people from killing themselves is to transition.
spicyfartsquirrel@reddit
From a scientific perspective, I would still disagree with you. Since in a fashion some of your argument/logic seems to be based on seeing outliers as normal rather then a deviation from the norm. The other issue is the long term studies have found that them transitioning doesnt reduce the likelihood of suicide. Since typically the wanting to change genders (which biologically isnt possible) is in response to trauma and they believe by becoming someone else they trauma stays with who they were. It is something I have heard frequently enough from those that de transition that it should be considered with all who want to transition.
All that said, I will say thank you for the thought out reasoned response without name calling. So many (on both sides) immediately resort to calling names, and it is often because they havent thought out the issue at all, and can only attack the person rather then address what they said. So thank you for the civil and thought out response even if we disagree
Nalortebi@reddit
Hey man I hadn't really given the whole issue much thought, and I was getting ready to downvote another groomer apologist, but I think you made a good point and I'll admit it's given me something to consider. Didn't know I'd find something so far from the normal gun discussions on here, but thanks for the insight without any of the leftist vitriol.
PM_NUDES_4_DOG_PICS@reddit
Who fucking cares? I'm tired of the culture war bullshit. It's nothing but a distraction from actual fucking problems.
A_Bewildered_Owl@reddit
yeah, the republicans know if they can keep these idiots made about a handful of transwomen they can get away with dismantling anything about this country that doesn't serve the bourgeoisie.
spicyfartsquirrel@reddit
It isnt actually Republicans. For decades the democrats have flaunted the LGBT in the face of people. First saying you should except it because they want to live quietly. Then it was you should celebrate them and they should be given special status. Now we are at the stage of you must celebrate them else we will come for you, try to get you fired, and make any opinion except enthusiastic support criminal. Which yes there are multiple places democratics have talked about so called "hate speech" bills if you do not say exactly what they want you to say.
spicyfartsquirrel@reddit
Where the culture goes so goes the country. With culture having been moving towards viewing the government as our care taker and who keeps us safe, and who provides for us (a socialist way of thinking). Then that leads to the erosion of constitutionally protected rights in order to keep people "safe". That is why gun owners or those with different opinions are often painted are "dangerous", "unsafe", and similar such terms.
Average_Sized_Jim@reddit
Think of it from the perspective of the average person.
An average person doesnt know what the NFA is. Even if they have, they likely just think of it as "machine guns and silencers are banned", and not even consider things like SBRs and SBSs. Things like barrel length, braces vs stocks, all of that is really, from the perspective of a general audience, meaningless legal or technical minutia.
Matters concerning transgenderism, however, are very easily understood by everyone. Every human has an understanding of "man" and "woman" as concepts. It could be said that such matters are, in fact, quite fundamental to the continuation of our species.
Therefore, large numbers of people form opinions on the matter of gender, whereas almost no one even sees the NFA. Politicians, with their limited political capital, then chose the more popular issue to expend it on as a means of self preservation.
I think, should gun owners want to change things about NFA restrictions, the first thing to do is to get as many people to understand what they are as possible. That way the issue becomes much more visible and will garner more attention from politicians.
Full-Impression3352@reddit
We need mental asylums for them I get it
spicyfartsquirrel@reddit
Not at all what I said, they need help but that is a far cry from involuntary committal.
twotokers@reddit
The GOP don’t give a fuck either way about trans people either. They just lie about them and use them as wedge issue for uneducated folks to get riled about to vote against their own interests and fellow countrymen.
They’re just regular working class Americans who deserve rights and healthcare just like everyone else. You probably incorrectly also think being gay is a mental illness too.
spicyfartsquirrel@reddit
Depends on the person, but yes many do actually care. They dont believe participating in the altered reality of the mentally ill is how best to help them
A_Bewildered_Owl@reddit
thank you for telling me you're an ignorant bigot.
No_Vacation369@reddit
Man. You really still think the GOP cares about your gun rights. I have a bridge to sell you.
YXIDRJZQAF@reddit
The GOP is the only reason this is on the table and some nobody Dem bitch (pardon) is the only reason the registry would still exist
proxygodtriple6@reddit
I hope you're rich, because if you voted R and you're not you're a dumbass.
I hope you don't miss all the public lands that are about to be sold off to the highest bidder.
YXIDRJZQAF@reddit
thankfully that got removed
twotokers@reddit
And all the rural healthcare that’s about to disappear as the funding evaporates. Hope you live near a major city or you’re just absolutely cooked.

Bless your heart.
kevin_k@reddit
They didn't "overrule the parlamentarian", they just re-submitted the bill with the denied amendment. But you've hit the nail on the head: the bill has different requirements for passing because it's required to contain only budget items. As much as I'd like HPA and SHORT to be the law, they aren't budget items. And as you illustrated perfectly, if an exeption's made, then everyone demands their exception be made, too, and the whole point of having a special process for budget bills is down the toilet.
DisorganizedFarmer@reddit
I called him out on X. If he has primary I'll vote for anyone else even a puppet. We need to weaponize our votes. If we are going to lose majority in the midterms then I'll back a democrat!
Clarkearthur601@reddit
These weapons of war are terrifying. Nobody needs these things for their hobby. I won’t feel safe until these are banned in all states. Not just a few.

True_Butterscotch940@reddit
It's actually over now. It was taken out. Thune said he won't fire the Parliamentarian multiple times, and even if he did, we'd have to lobby again to have it put back in.
Now is the time to get ready to vote in the primaries. Vote against all but the most pro-gun R's.
Thune, in particular, should be the focus of our organization -- he needs to go.
Clownshoes919@reddit
It’s a $0 tax now last I saw
bluesuitblue@reddit
Ok but still being forced to ask for approval, being put on a registry and I have to tell the ATF whenever I cross state lines with it? And I can never leave it with a family member or friend without putting them in some kind of trust?
I can afford $200. That isn’t the part that deters me from an SBR or suppressor. It’s an improvement but not that much of one honestly because someone can still be a felon if they put a slightly different piece of plastic on their buffer tube.

Soulshot96@reddit
I'd like to see all that bullshit gone as well, but I did wanna chime in here and mention that allegedly the form 20 bullshit was being turned into more of a notification system rather than a permission slip type thing.
Who knows how long that will last, but it's something I guess.
NotJayKayPeeness@reddit
Not wasting any votes on a Repub or Dem, and nothing major is going to change until you all do the same.
True_Butterscotch940@reddit
Ideally, we'd have many more Dan Osborns -- independents who are not obligated to follow a party lime on every issue. It's still a crying shame he lost. But, barring that, turnover in the GOP cannot be a bad thing.
TaunTaunRevenge@reddit (OP)
Democrats winning control and passing an AWB would be a major change.
HuskyLemons@reddit
Yes, let’s keep voting for republicans so we can prove why we need the 2A
NotJayKayPeeness@reddit
No it wouldn't. It would be an acceleration of the minor changes the Republicans have either created or allowed the Democrats to push over the last 40 years. It's death by 1000 cuts because one party wants it, and the other party is too regarded to stop it.
