Paramount is running a little thin on existing IP these days (unless they wanna squeeze another Indy movie out of Harrison Ford). They're not selling unless the price is crazy high. There's way too much potential revenue there. They can keep pumping out series that they know will fail or only garner niche viewership, but will still make money and expand the Trek brand endlessly. Lower Decks cost next to nothing to produce and made serious bank for Paramount for years. ST is not going anywhere unless, as I say, Apple or whoever offers a ludicrously huge sum of money.
