Yo!
Are there any solid 1911s under $500?
I know majority will say to save up, but I’m not into purchasing a more expensive piece - yet! If I like it, I’ll upgrade.
It’ll be my first 1911 and I just want to test the waters before I fully commit. Even if I end up not liking it, at least I have one in my collection.
Thanks!

Ria, I own a few and upgrading them is kinda fun, makes you learn a lot

You try any of their double stacks yet? I only got to shoot one of their 45s once and it certainly tightened my trousers

I own one of each 9mm double stack and 45acp

Rock Island GI Standard. Sure it's cast frame but they work fine.

They're built using old Colt equipment in an old Colt factory. Good enough for me. They're reliable and shoot straight.

Didn't Taurus do the same thing with the Beretta 92's?
PM-PicsOfYourMom@reddit
If I remember correctly they were licensed by Beretta to build them for the south American market, so the machines were built by Taurus to Beretta's spec.

I thought they bought Berettas south American facilities after Beretta decided they were no longer profitable

Tisas or ria are my preferred for like 150-200 more you could get one of rias double stacks, unless their prices have changed

I did a youtube video on my Rock Island Armory 1911A1-FS. I have attached the link if you want to take a look at it. https://youtu.be/zSeLl9SHOjc?si=aBDSags1AO0BAGIK

I got a rock island armory 1911 for like $400 and it hasn’t failed me yet!

Tisas all day. I’d take it over a Springfield, especially their GI models.

Tisas

Came here to say this. Got one a few months ago. Obviously not a higher end model, but solid, reliable, and way better than any of the other "budget" 1911s I've seen lately.
On sale right now:

Most of the Turkish 1911s are in that price range and good quality. I’d avoid the Philippine 1911s as quality is a crap shoot with them
MadMints@reddit
The current Charles Daly imported 1911s are pretty good, they're made by Brixia in Italy with forged slides and frames

I paid a little bit more for a Tisas Raider and I love it

Springfield “Mil-Spec” can get close to your price.

tisas asf model

Solid 1911 for under $500 would be a Tisas. No MIM parts, all machined internals. Takes all series 70 fire control parts.
